News reports state that Imad has received the NOC from PCB to play for Melbourne Renegades in BBL10

Big Bash will be good this year since they're finally signing more international players.

Also Imad is a great pick. T20 trophies have been following him around this year. Won the Blast with Nottingham and PSL with Karachi.

Clubs can play three overseas players at once for the first time and the introduction of an additional squad position will increase squad sizes to 19 players this year.

He'll play until 26th January if South Africa tour Pakistan.

If the South Africa tour doesn't happen, then he will play the entire BBL tournament.

Best of luck to him. Though still a ways away, an in form Imad Wasim will be vital for Pakistan in preparation for the WT20.

One of the three Pakistanis it's very easy to get behind.
Babar, Shaheen and Imad.

He knows his game and thrives under pressure, would be a great addition to BBL. BBL also tend to use players in unfamiliar roles so it may benefit him.
BBL is the most different of t20 leagues going around and definitely of high class.

Imad is a very good cricketer and certainly the best all-rounder in Pakistan. Fans are finally recognizing his importance after underrating him for years while overrating the likes of Shadab and Faheem.

It is a shame he is not interested in playing Test cricket because he could have been a very useful second spinner in Asia.

He can bowl long, economical spells and average 30+ with the bat.

Okay good for this mediocre bits and pieces darter. He should only play these leagues. He should have been dumped long time ago from national team.A nothing cricketer

Imad Wasim signs with Melbourne Renegades for BBL

Can’t see any post for this yet, but a good signing, he has previously also done very well in the CPL.

Let’s see how he goes about in the BBL gives Pakistan also some good representation.

May be Babar will also get a gig ?

Thoughts people

Keeps getting some very good T20 contracts - he must be doing something right.

I still don't get why he gets so much hate.

Imad Wasim is on his way to join the Renegades after completion of T20I series vs NZ

If it was Amir who was leaving the NZ tour for BBL everyone would’ve said he’s chasing the $$$, one rule for one and one for another.

Misbah ahead of the England tour if I recall correctly said, “we are only taking players on tour who are available for all formats”, is Imad Wasim retired from tests too?

Some conspiracy theories going around Shadab axing Imad from the last t20 to secure his own spot

He is highly rated outside of Pakistan, very useful with his darters in the powerplay, unfortunately our fans do not recognize the benefits of such a bowler.

From what I've seen and when i met him he carries himself very well, is quite articulate compared to some of our other players so is probably at the top of the list when countries consider Pakistani players as foreign imports.

What nonsense!
Imad hasn't been considered for tests. He has never played tests. Whats the question ?

And BTW,I dont like misbah and waqar 1 bit.

Up to Misbah to select him if he feels his skills can be utilised in the longer format. If he's not selected in the test squad and the PCB gives him a NOC he can play in Timbuktu for all it matters

Imad is under utilised. He should definitely bat 6 at least well ahead of shadab. Imad brings about calmness in his batting.

Misbah said that the reason why he didn’t pick Amir was because he wanted to select young and emerging players who were available for all formats. So that would mean that every player on the tour were available to play both tests and t20’s, right?

Imad Wasim even though he’s never played a test, was picked because he’s made himself available for all formats, but now Misbah has allowed him to go off to play T20 leagues.

Misbah also picked Hafeez for the tour even though he’s 40, so he’s not young and emerging, and he doesn’t play test so he’s not available for all formats, Misbah has been exposed again here to his lies of why he kept Amir out. Please note, I have no problem with Hafeez being picked, I have a problem with our coach who says he picks players who are available for all formats.

Misbah after saying he’s picked players who are young and emerging picked Sohail Khan for god knows what format.

One rule for one, and another for one.

Imad isn’t chasing the money, but Amir is.

There’s no two different set of rules. It’s a misconception that Amir was dropped because of his unavailability for Tests, a misconception that Amir further propagates. Wahab continues to play for Pakistan, and Amir played in England before clutching his hamstring.

Truth is, Amir’s form has fallen off a cliff. That’s why he wasn’t selected, there’s no ifs and buts about it.

Then why did he say in the presser ahead of the tour to NZ that he’s picked players who are available for all formats🤦🏻*♂️ when he was asked why Amir was dropped.

Clearly Misbah and Waqar had a problem with Amir playing in leagues which led to Waqar taking a jibe at Amir for playing in Lpl.

Wahab continues to play for Pakistan because he came out of retirement from test cricket, or have you forgotten that? He was forced to take his retirement back otherwise he wouldn’t have made it on the tour to England. Amir was also asked to take back his retirement but he refused, and now he’s been ignored because of it.

Yes Amir is so bad that Sohail Khan, Musa Khan and Husnain get picked ahead of him.👍🏼

Wahab never came out of retirement for Test cricket. If he had, he’d be playing Tests right now. To the contrary, he made a statement saying he’d taken back retirement. There’s a difference.

Wahab continues to maintain decent form especially in the matches against England where Amir was also given a second chance but failed, and then in the National T20 Cup.

And yes, Amir is indeed that bad right now. I for one would also have taken Musa over Amir on current form (at the time of selection for New Zealand).

Now Amir is on an upward trajectory with decent performances in Sri Lanka, a third rate league, and is on par with Musa and behind Hasnain.

Amir fanbois will never understand.

If Wahab’s form was bad two months ago, and was dropped, people would be saying he’d have been discriminated against.

Similarly, after failing to impress with the ball on a pitch that is suited to seamers anyways, Imad was dropped for Hasnain (a specialist batsman was brought in for Wahab, who bowled only one over last match). As a result, people are making conspiracy theories that there is a rift within the team.

Truth is, decisions are primarily based on form. Amir’s form has been lackluster, to say the least.

Some conspiracy theories going around Shadab axing Imad from the last t20 to secure his own spot

Imad left field before end of play during 2nd T20 also dropped in last T20 there was video circulating where Hafeez saying janey kyon diya us ko... Kya attitude ha to Shadab about Imad.

So there is something or may be nothing but this is sure with current bowling form of Shadab Imad is better player than him.

Some conspiracy theories going around Shadab axing Imad from the last t20 to secure his own spot

Pretty shocking speculations and I have seen the video where Imad Wasim was visibly agitated with some decisions being taken and also with the poor fielding efforts of the team.

I think that it's clear that Imad deserves to bowl in the powerplay given that he's a very reliable new-ball spinner. He was denied this by Shadab Khan for reasons unknown, could possibly have been the fact that the pitch had something for the quicks.

Instead of bringing him on after the powerplay, Shadab brought himself on which wasn't the problem, the issue was that Imad has made it clear in a lot of interviews and talks that he prefers bowling with the new ball because he can get it to skid and seam accordingly. The old ball can't do that, and that's probably why he was unable to bowl effectively.

Still, at times, players don't get what they want. However, Shadab should have known that Imad would be virtually ineffective in the middle overs, and should have maximized him in the powerplay where he is economical, and also supported by the fact that the total was not very high. Imad bowling in the powerplay could have changed the tide of the game.

Regardless, Imad is a fine signing for the BBL.

However, I also wish that he was available for test matches because he could be useful.

Expecting Imad in Renegades lineup for tomorrow's game

And out for 3.

Horrow show for Imad today.

He is not even good for league cricket.he is very mediocre in the category of shadab and faheem this darter

He did far better than the washed up joker Nabi who looks like he’s 40+

I think he needed a reality check. Arguing with your captain, walking off in the middle of the game, I don’t care how talented you are or whether the captain is underutilizing you (and you were indeed underutilized) — that kind of behavior, you have absolutely no place in any half decent team.

Go grow a spine and a set of manners, and act like a team man, not a “leader”, if you want to be captain.

He’s always been a player focused on economy and building dot ball pressure. He currently has an economy of 7.35 which is the tenth best in the tournament after you take out part timers. If you look at only spinners, the main names better than him are Mujeeb, Rashid Khan, Fawad Ahmed, and Zampa.

So it hasn’t been an exactly stellar season, but he’s never been stellar, really. Doing what he’s always done - be economical, build pressure for other bowlers to take advantage of, and contribute with the bat.

If it were me, I would consider playing two leggies for the Pakistan team and replace him with Qadir.

Yes, either Usman or Zafar should replace Imad from ODIs. I think he is fine for T20S.

If you want to replace Imad in a format, it should be T20I.

Now the obvious response to that would be why? His ER is extremely good, and he takes wickets regularly.

However, his batting has been vital for us in ODI cricket in recent times. Averaging about 40 odd with a strike rate of 110 is pretty good for a lower-middle order batsman. Granted, he can't hit the long ones too often, but he has batting IQ, knows how to take singles and where the gaps are.

In ODI cricket, I'd play Imad as a batting all-rounder, only chiming in with a few overs if needed. I see an opportunity to use him in a way he hasn't been used yet.

If you play Imad at 5 or 6, assuming that he carries the same form, he will really be a good asset, because you have someone at 5 or 6 who can bat positively and hold the innings together, basically act as a reliable batsman who knows how to handle pressure situations. On top of that, you get a pretty decent spin bowling option who could give you 10 overs on a good day.

I'm trying to say that Imad can be a good choice, but we need to promote him up the order to see what he can do.

Zafar doesn't convince me with his List-A batting, needs to improve that. If you want someone to replace Imad, someone who's a more genuine spin option and handy with the bat, Mohammad Nawaz is an option. Salman Agha is another pretty decent option, or you could opt for a younger Qasim Akram. He's still very young, but he has potential in my eyes. Needs to improve his bowling, and get some good spells in, but he's a solid prospect.

If you want to replace Imad on the team, you can't do it with a bowler. You have to replace him with either a batting all-rounder, or a batsman, because if you don't, you'll get the feeling of being in with one batsman short.

His team are having a stinker and he's not doing all that good either.

A very average tournament for him so far.

It's the old saying, adapt or perish. He's effectively been the same bowler for the past 7-8 years, and teams now know what to expect from him. It's been a similar story at international level against the better teams.
