If the PCB had any sense they would help him to get his coaching qualifications and then have him as a coach at the NCA to work with young up-and-coming talent.

:))) misbah bowling reminds me of his bazooka comment on apas ke baat with najem sethi

Wow what a bunch there I’m sure it was not awkward having the likes of the fixer butt, the outspoken anti misbah mohd yousuf and shezad who’s failed a drug test recently

Yousuf is good but I would keep Misbah away from these kids , don’t want them to be influenced by his negative mind set .

Its good that the current players are thinking of life and options after cricket.

Ahmed Shehzad :

Now you see him

Good that Imam is taking up coaching lessons, he might make more of a career as a coach than as an opening batsman selected due to nepotism.

Lol, just absolutely no hope for Imam?

Some people on this thread will always have it out for him even though he is just a young player trying to do well for his country. They make it out like he's the one who appointed the chief-selector

PCB Level-2 Coach Education Course commences at the NCA

· Misbah-ul-Haq, Saeed Ajmal, Umar Gul among 15 cricketers attending the four-day course at the NCA

· “It is great news for Pakistan cricket that international players are going to serve the game through coaching,” Mudassar Nazar, Director Academies

Lahore, 26 May 2019:

A four-day Level-2 Coach Education Course - 2019 commenced at the National Cricket Academy, Lahore, on Sunday with fifteen cricketers, including 13 former Test players, featuring on the opening day.

During the course, the participants will undergo training in a wide-ranging area of coaching skills, which include video analysis, coaching methodology, the implications and application on bio-mechanics in cricket, batting, bowling and fielding skills.

Mudassar Nazar, Director Academies, expressed his delight over the former cricketers’ participation in the course. “It is great news for Pakistan cricket that the international players are going to serve the game through coaching in future.

“The players have now recognised and realised the importance of the coach education programs, so we are really happy that many cricketers are coming forward towards this aspect of the game.

“I am very hopeful that the participants will take a step ahead and appear in Level-3 and Level-4 courses, like other former Test players did, these coaches have become Level-4 coaches now. Some of the coaching staff at the NCA and various other academies in Pakistan are also Level-4.”

Mentioning bio-mechanics, as one of the main features of the course, Mudassar said: “If you don’t understand the mechanics of bowling actions, you can't guide players which can result in major injuries, so this course specifically helps you teach the minor details to prevent players from injuries.”

Misbah-ul-Haq, who one of the participants, said: “Coaching and playing are two different things, and most important part is how you transform the learning from the course into the practical field.”

“The mindsets of a coach and a player are absolutely contrasting. The approach is different and one has to understand this.”

Former Test fast bowler Umar Gul said: “First of all, I would like to thank Pakistan Cricket Board and the organisers at the NCA, who have organized this course. It is beneficial for former and current cricketers who learn from such courses and further transfer their knowledge to the youngsters.”

Participants (in alphabetical order): Abdur Rehman, Adnan Akmal, Ahmed Shehzad, Aizaz Cheema, Basit Ali, Bilal Asif, Ehsan Adil, Humayun Farhat, Misbah-ul-Haq, Qaiser Abbas, Saeed Ajmal, Salman Butt, Umaid Asif, Umar Gul, and Zulfiqar Babar

Agreed. We don't want him to set a precedent following the Mohali knock and 2007 T20 final choke against a policeman bowling in the final over.

Good to see the PCB providing opportunities to these players, so they can have a career after retirement.

Misbah can be a good coach, very professional individual, Yousuf although one of my favorite players when he played lacks professionalism.

I wonder if the ICC will have any objections to Salman Butt coaching?

Misbah as a mentor.

Dean Jones as our head coach.

Mohammad Yousaf as our batting coach.

Waqar Younis as our bowling coach.

Saqlain Mustaq as our spin bowling coach.

Steve Rixon as our fielding coach.

I would like to see this setup in the future...

Misbah , mentor ? will teach how to draw a test which you can win and how to play for draw a LOC match.

What I would suggest is replace Misbah with someone who will teach how to give up a home field advantage and lose Test Series to the likes of Lanka and NZ on wickets you have been playing for years. Is it Moghul or Morton ?

Mentor are supposed to be some inspiring figure, like Viv Richards for Quetta Gladiators who infuses winning mentality, not someone who spreads defensive and losing mentality.

These current players like Ahmed Shehzad still have a good ten years of playing life. I wonder if taking coaching certification and classes can in any way help them as individual players?

On a complete positive it is very heartening to see all these players investing in coaching classes, certifications and not having the attitude that I am an international experienced player I dont need coaching certification like a Waqar or Miandad

if Salman can attend it, why can't Mohammad Asif? it seems Salman has "someone" supporting him.

Head Coach,Batting Coach,Spin Bowling Coach and Fielding Coach your four choices is good but other two not good
We have no need to mentor like Misbah he has ok 250 runs in 50 over and also not bowling coach like waqas he has not deliver as head coach of Pakistan

I don’t know why I feel Misbah is an inspiring personality to have in the dressing-room.

Also I think Waqar Younis would do a decent job as a bowling coach because under his regime our bowling was looking very good atleast there wasn’t any defensive mindset.

If not Waqar Younis then I would suggest Muhammad Akram coach of PZ to be our bowling coach.

The way Hasan, Wahab and Sameen Gul have performed under him is really remarkable.

I agree.

Asif can teach a lot of youngsters the art of bowling which he was a maestro at.

Ah man the wobbly seam of him...

If this is true, then that's funny because at one point he applied for the Aussie bowling coach role, so no wonder he was left humiliated with a rejection lol.

But Pakistan decided to give him the top job. Shows PCB incompetence right there.

Bump, for those who think Misbah isn't qualified to be a coach

Bump, for those who think Misbah isn't qualified to be a coach

Level 2 is pretty low for a Head Coach of an international team, I think.

I suppose some qualifications are better than none. But anyway, he doesn't fulfil PCB's 3 years of experience requirement... wonder if they will waive that.

If they dont get an overseas candidate who is a known great coach they will.

with bit of insight and experience, i can confidently say, these courses are useless
No thought process put in
lot of information & theory

PCB should have sent Misbah for level-2 / 3 course to Australia or England. He is the level headed guy with right education and mindset who PCB can invest in for the future.

Misbah on his qualifications for Coach

"I haven't applied for the Head Coach role. All the talk in the media are just rumours. I am a member of the cricket committee. Since we don't have a selection committee or team management, I am holding a camp to prepare the players. It's not final whether I will apply for the role or not"

"Former players have their own opinions. I have done Level 2 coaching courses here and also from the ECB, perhaps they don't know about that"

Annual workshop for umpires and match referees to start from 25 August

• “The workshops are aimed at bringing match officials across the country up to date with the latest playing conditions,” says Haroon Rashid, Director – Domestic Cricket

• Workshops to be held in Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi

Lahore, 24 August 2019:

The Pakistan Cricket Board is organizing the 2019 edition of the annual workshops for umpires and match referees in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi.

The purpose of these workshops – which run from 25 August till 8 September – is to bring the match officials across the country up to date with the latest laws of the game, PCB domestic playing conditions, code of conduct and clothing equipment regulations.

The workshops in Lahore and Rawalpindi will include all PCB panel umpires and match referees and will be conducted by ICC International Panel umpires Ahsan Raza and Asif Yaqoob. The workshop in Karachi would be conducted by Ahsan Raza and Bilal Qureshi, PCB Manager Umpires and Referees.

Haroon Rashid, PCB Director – Domestic Cricket said: “These workshops are held annually with the aim of bringing match officials across the country up to date with the latest playing conditions.

“They provide an opportunity to the match officials to interact with the leading international umpires who possess knowledge and invaluable experience of handling the pressures of international cricket. At present we have a good crop of budding umpires and match referees and it is vital to groom them further ahead of a hectic domestic season.

“The workshops are vital for the growth of the match officials to ensure competitive cricket is played in its true spirit.”

Good to see Misbah gaining coaching qualifications after he secured the national teams position.

Some would argue he needed these first

God help the international side he joins and takes back to the Stone Age

RIP Pakistan T20 ranking in that case.

Hope Misbah is permanently banned from any coaching positions after his selfish and snakish moves in 2019 and the disastrous tenure that followed.

The worse thing is- he’s a generally smart man. He should have known that he’s not ready to take on such a big role as a coach and selector, without any real experience. But he was greedy, he had to be thrown out of PSL as a player and the Pakistan team too. He wanted to come back immediately as coach as this was his only route back.

Had he taken his time and learnt properly, he would undoubtedly be in line to be our next coach.

Misbah on path to become PSL's Steve Bruce/Harry Redknapp/Mark Hughes, the ideology Misbah advocates may only work in East African Cricket Boards or may be in China

For all the criticism he gets, Misbahs 2015 World Cup batting line up was both relatively young and attacking.

Haris sohail, umar akmal & Sohaib maqsood were the backbone of the middle order with Afridi in there too for the occasional firepower.

We ultimately failed because it was Australia and the bowling was an issue without amir and asif with Ajmal also banned but can’t think of any “attacking” batsmen that should have played instead of the trio.

After having level 3 misbah should be made coach

Did anyone ever answer this? Pakistan cricketers seem very low on cricket knowledge, hence the constant stupidity of their decision reviews, it often seems like there is no professional coaching system in the country. At least not one that would be recognised by international standards.

Geo Misbah ul Haq, a true visionary he must be very proud one of his product from SNGPL not only became Pakistan's no.1 keeper , but eventually ended up as Kaptaana himself.

All the good wishes with Rizwan, behind the scenes this guy is doing so much for cricket in his region.

Why Shadab Khan completed this course, has he given up on his comeback in the side already?

This is a great iniative as it will allow many players to get employment after retirement.

But i hope shadab is back playing grade 1 first class cricket

Probably because it was conducted by his father in law
Actually you have 3 months to complete your assignments. So assuming he was off he completed it. I dont think everyone has the same time period of completion.

But i hope shadab is focussing on frist class cricket and is not taking off from it. Even though he sucks, i still believe that if he performs in first class and improves he can make a comeback and play all three formats
