Ben Stokes Takes A SUPER-HUMAN Catch! | ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

I think Cottrell's catch was better than Stokes. Stokes one was good but it was kind of lucky, that one just stuck. Cottrell's one required more skill and he had to be wary of touching the boundary as well.

The standard of fielding over the years has increased greatly.

Fielding technique, practice and the skill levels are unbelievable.

You only have to watch some teams in practice before a match to realise how good they are.

Think the QdK catch of Virat Kohli also deserves a mention here

De Kock's catch was brilliant. Even if you make Three Mushfiq's stand on top of each other he would have messed up :yk

Both Sheldon Cottrell and Ben Stokes's catches right up there. Don't see many topping them.

Woods drop of Gayle was not a good example but he had the ball in his hand for so long!

Chris Woakes drops Andre Russell! England fielding from the best to nothing it seems

Today, in the first innings of the New Zealand vs Australia match, Steve Smith played a fierce pull shot out the middle of the bat. Martin Guptill, standing at leg gully, did this:

Later, in the second innings, a struggling Tom Latham nails a flick towards mid-wicket. Standing at short mid-wicket is Steve Smith, who decides to take revenge against the Black Caps with an absolute blinder of his own:

What a pair of catches!

Two outstanding pieces of fielding today turned the game for New Zealand.

First, this outlandish catch from Jimmy Neesham at point off the bat of Karthik:

Then, one of the greatest throws under pressure, getting a direct hit, from the edge of the circle, aiming at one stump, to run out MS Dhoni, in a World Cup semi final. Take a bow Martin Guptill:

Catches and good fielding wins matches - proved by NZ

NZ fielded brilliantly in the semi final against India today. Took difficult catches, made run outs happen - this was the reason they edged India. They are all athletes who have great skills in the field.

I hope pak learns from them - our fielding standard in the wc was below par IMO

Importance of fielding was emphatically proven in this world cup

NZ despite being an underdog among the last 4, almost won the world cup due to their spectacular fielding right through the world cup. Ironically enough that very fielding cost them the game. Be it is Boult's catch of Brathwhite on the fence or the spellbinders of GUptilla or Guptill's run out of Dhoni, great saves of Santner on the fence they were top notch. They complemented their effective bowling unit suited for English conditions. Meanwhile teams like Pakistan made a meal of catches right through the tournament. India's drop of Taylor cost them. Pakistan's lack of sense to throw to the right end cost them Rohit's wicket early on. These could be discussed as a fielding lapses. But those are highly costly fielding lapses.
