Camps are good and all but they’re missing big names like iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad wa seem jnr

Absence of iftikhar Ahmed from selection is very unfair. He’s performing year after year in domestic and captained his side to victory. How can you leave him out????

Can we please get an explanation on this?

This is fawad Alam all over again

KARACHI: Head Coach Pakistan Cricket Team – Saqlain Mushtaq heaped praises on the newly appointed Batting consultant Mohammad Yousuf, said his presence will be beneficial for the team in the longer run.

Saqlain, while talking to the presser at the National Stadium Karachi after the conclusion of the Test squad’s first training session said Yousuf’s presence will benefit the team in future.

“I think everyone has a firm belief in Yousuf’s abilities. He has also worked at the National High-Performance Center. I think if he remains with the team, his presence will benefit the team in the longer run,” he said.

Saqlain further talked about the team’s preparations and plannings for the upcoming series against Australia, said he can not reveal the plans for the home series.

“We are making plans for the series, which I can not reveal right now. We will decide the team combination after analyzing the opposing team,” he said.

Saqlain then went on to say that despite the advantage of home conditions, the team will have to play hard against them.

“The home series does benefit, but Australia is the top team and I think we will have to play hard to give them a tough time,” he said.

The head coach then shared his views on the current performance of the captain of the national team – Babar Azam, who said he is one of the best players and is optimistic that he will bounce back soon before the home series against Australia.

“Babar Azam is one of the best players in the world and has given various performances in the past,” he said.

“His performance has not been satisfactory in this year’s PSL so far. I wish he gets back to his form before Australia’s tour,” he concluded.

It is worth mentioning here that Australia will be touring Pakistan after 24 years to play three Tests, as many ODIs and one-off T20I.

Batting coach Mohammad Yousuf has opened up about Pakistan's preparations ahead of the monumental Test series against Australia.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) set up a training camp at National Stadium Karachi where players included in the Test squad were joined by Head Coach Saqlain Mushtaq and Mohammad Yousuf.

The majority of the players are currently occupied by the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), which is heading to its conclusion as every team has already played 9 out of 10 matches in the group stages.

The PSL final is to be played on February 27 and players are likely to join the already set up training camp the following day.

Speaking about the preparations, Mohammad Yousuf said that currently, they are helping players get back in the Test format mindset as their last 4-day or 5-day match was back in November.

"After playing against Bangladesh, our players haven't had any 4-day cricket. This is why it is important for us to spend 90 overs in the ground and batters spend more time on the pitch," said Yousuf in a video published by the PCB.

The batting coach further added that regaining the feel of the longest format of the game is important for not only the batters but also for the bowlers.

"Our aim was to reignite the session-by-session approach from players and for them to play according to the situation. So, when we actually play the Test match, we are not out of sync with the format," added the former Pakistan batter-turned coach.

It is worth pointing out that the PCB called up additional players for the training camp to have enough support for batters and bowlers, which also includes recently concluded U-19 World Cup star Haseebullah Khan and others.

Today is the last match of Karachi Kings. After that Babar Azam should join the training camp as soon as possible.

Enough of that micky mouse cricket, be ready for the real cricket.

Babar should just retired from t20 all together .
& Just concentrate in test championship & odi.

Ideally yes but realistically it won't happen. It is not in Pakistan's culture.

But he should retire (at least as captain) after next t20 world cup in Australia, where he is needed.

Can't wait for the series to actually begin. Hope the weather stays perfect for cricket throughout the tour, especially for test matches.

I really hope that Mo Yo can sort out Haider once the limited overs series starts.

Haider needs to sort Haider out. He has now worked with Yk, Inzamam, Mohd Yousaf and now Hashim Amla, they cannot bat for him out in the middle.

I really hope that Mo Yo can sort out Haider once the limited overs series starts.

he should go back to domestics and fix his mental aspect of the game.. Been poor with his shot selections for quite a while now.. Even franchise team is not sure were this guy can bat to score runs for the team..

Issue with his mindset, temperament and shot selections , let him fix that in domestics and then return..

Have you seen darren lehman, ravi shastri. the coach does not have to be fit. just competent

Those complaining about Saqlain's fitness need to keep in mind that his knees are shot. It is why his career ended at the age of 27. He had 3-4 surgeries on his knees and could not get back to playing competitive cricket again. I have heard he walks with a limp. When your knees are gone you can forget about Cardio.

He was very bitter in an interview to Pakpassion on how the PCB and Pakistan Cricket had forgotten him all those years but he put his head down, worked on his coaching qualifications and piece by piece built his resume up i.e. ECB, West Indies team, New Zealand team, ICC Academy, established his own academy, got hired by the PCB at the NHPC and is now the head coach of the National team.
