[PICTURES] What are the reasons behind the never-ending and unwanted relationship between Pakistani pacers and injuries?

Saj asks a good question

Where is the issue?

1. Players are carrying injuries and playing through pain and basically lying to the PCB?
2. Fear of being sidelined without little chance of any financial or even proper medical help?
3. PCB medical staff unable to provide proper care
4. PCB coaches unable to see issues with player techniques that can lead to future injuries?

We have seen so many injuries of pace bowlers this year.

My question is has anyone looked into the physio and medical staff with the team? Are they answerable to anything?

Moreover Dr Sohail was brought back as head in Pakistan Cricket. He has a dubious past. We should not forget how badly Naseem was managed.

The only reason I can think of is that these guys are calcium-deficient so their bones are not strong enough. Makes no sense how a spinner can get a leg injury.

Diet is poor. And too much limited overs cricket. Teams like England carefully mange their bowlers load and rotate. Naseem got injured in the rather low profile Asia Cup and missed the prestigious Australia tour which is important for Pakistan cricket's reputation and standing. You have to do well on SENA Test tours to be respected.

Definitely need to look into the physio team because the fast bowlers have been way too much injured than normally.

Just my assumptions, no real proof in my pov.

There are different factors for each cricketer. Some cricketers had poor diet when growing up thus were never able to develop their bodies properly. Some played their cricket on terrible wickets. Some play too much tape ball secretly from PCB and end picking injuries from their.
Plus there are players that have to hide their injuries or else they dont know when they will get there next streak of matches.

Shadab Khan is a good example of poor diet when growing up, as alot of these cricketers cant afford good food. Now he gets injured every now and than. What shadab has done to prolong his career is he plays limited overs and franchise. He doesnt play 4 day as he is more vulnerable to get injured. And this happens. In every sport there are certain players that tend to easily get more injured than others.

Bad nutrition and lack of strength training.

If you are weak with a poor diet then you will get injured if you physically push yourself over long periods. Simple biomechanics.

Age fudging
Poor excercise plans
Poor diet plans
No workload management at any level
No rotation policy
Unnecessary media hype builds extra pressure and due to that bowlers try to put too much efforts and ends up losing their original skills

yes Age fudging is a very important point here.

Almost every cricketer of Pakistan is +5 years in age. Saqlain Mushtaq is the best example

It's hard to believe that official age of Shaheen is 23, Haris Rauf is 30, Shadab is 25, Naseem Shah is 20, Iftikhar is 33. They all look minimum 3-4 years older than their official age

Incorrect ages.

No proper planning in terms of player's scheduling.

The lack of dieticians at domestic level?

The quality of fitness trainers at the domestic level.

Our players are very eager to play lot of cricket despite knowing that their bodies are not made of steel.

It's all about earning big money in a shorter period of time nothing else.

Fast bowlers getting injured is one thing, we have Abrar Ahmed - a spinner - with a leg injury?!

No fitness protocol whatsoever. Makes sense when you have a cricket board with a structure as reliable as a house of cards with children at the helm.

We used to have a fast bowler who used to drain his knees of liquid before games, and only got treatment after retirement.

And another fast bowler whose surgery had to be payed out of his own pocket because PCB botched it and then rushed him back into game with zero rehab. And who is still holding himself back by bowling slower.

This board is capable of almost anything that has to do with unprofessionalism.

Rumman Raees while talking about injuries to the Pakistan players said:

"Let's just move to the other side of the border when a player gets injured there like Bumrah, who remained injured for two and a half year, the Indian cricket board communicated to him that he should not worry and focus on his rehabilitation as he would get his place back once he gets fully fit while in Pakistan if a player gets injured he does not know whether he would play for Pakistan again or not even if he gets fully fit. So the lack of communication between the players and the board creates great uncertainty and thus we need a good communication line between the players and the board."

Aamir Jamal becomes the latest player to be released from the Test squad for 2 Test match series against Bangladesh.

Aamir, struggling with a back injury from county cricket, has been sent to the National Cricket Academy for fitness rehab.

Is Pakistan's squad selection in disarray? Or is this a sign of a larger issue? Share your thoughts on this latest development

If he was already injured than why selectors are even selected him .

He went over to England carrying an injury and probably made it worse! Not sure if PCB can be blamed.

Injuries are part and parcel of cricket given the amount of T-20 leagues being played today.

However Pakistan's problem are not the injuries but the rehabilitation process and quality. Just contrast how Pakistan has handled the injuries to Umar Gul, Junaid Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Ehsanullah, Haris Sohail e.t.c with how India has handled injuries suffered by Bhumrah, Shami, Siraj, Pandya.

The golden rule BCCI follows is that no player no matter how big he is will play for India unless he is 100% fit and has played a few domestic games to show his form, fitness. Pakistani players in comparison have always been rushed back and players themselves had played or have been pressurized to play despite not being 100%

This is on the players. The BCCI, Cricket Australia, ECB can compensate players extra ordinarily well by sitting on the sidelines. PCB have no such luxury therefore the players risk aggravating their injuries for the money.

Would be amusing if they created a fund for injured players and all of a sudden there’s a huge spike in injuries :yk

Getting paid for sitting at home and eating Biryani all day! I just peaked in my career!

Sadly, this could realistically happen. Pak bowlers of today are unlike those of yesteryear, they’re a special modern breed.

That’s not to say that players shouldn’t get support because it is needed in addition to a big shift in the mindsets and attitude of both sportsman and the management staff.

Shaheen Shah Afridi suffered a scare when he was hit on the knee by a delivery and went off retired hurt during match against Dolphins in Champions One-Day Cup 2024. However, he remarkably returned to play and scored an unbeaten 33 off 28 balls, including 5 sixes.

But the question remains: will management give him adequate rest to fully recover from this injury?
