I have some free time in the first week of June, and for the first time ever - I am planning to visit the UK. This is going to be a solo trip as my partner can't accompany me - and I know there is Reddit, YouTube and the like but in my case, there is also this forum where I've been a member for 14 long years (and hopefully many more).

For starters, I'm trying to zero in on a place to go to. I like good food, drink, a big city vibe, but am also 'active' (have trekked mountains, have a scuba license etc.). I have ~5 days or so so I'd like to do only one and have zeroed in on:

1) London
2) Edinburgh
3) Bristol

What does the forum's voice suggest?

I'll keep this thread interactive and post photos as I go along. Thanks a ton in advance!

Bristol? Why?

You should definitely do London. Its one of the best cities in the world with plenty to do. Though 5 days is too less but try to restrict yourself to main central areas, you would love it. You can also venture West London areas of Richmond Park or Kew Gardens or Hampstead heath...beautiful places. Dont go further west than that, else you will land in New Delhi (aka Southall/Hounslow). Avoid East London at any cost....ewwww.

You can find plenty of 3 day Central London itienary in internet, so I am leaving that to you. I personally like City tour hop on hop off buses when travelling to any European cities. It means I have to worry less about planning and can enjoy the bus drive.

I would also suggest a day trip/ 1 night stay somewhere outside London. If you like nature & hiking as you mentioned, go to a place called Durdle Door & Lulworth Cove in Dorset. Its 2 hour train ride from London and you will thank me later. If you planning an overnight stay, book a hotel in Bournemouth which is the capital of Dorset. The entire county of Dorset has spectacular sand beaches which is known as Jurassic Coast because Dino bros uses to live there millions of ears ago and you will still find fossils.

Scrap all three and make your way to Easterhouse, Glasgow.

You’ll be in awe of the beautiful Roman inspired architecture, the clean air, the Glasgow fort where you’ll find a sense of relaxation and you’ll come across the most hospitable people in the UK.

Easterhouse will welcome you with open arms.
