Imam-ul-Haq speaking to the press

"Its a proud feeling for me [to be part of this historic occasion]; as you know Misbah & Younis have retired from cricket so our young guys have to do a lot of work"

"Its always good to come to England [Ireland] and prove a point so we are looking forward to this series"

"I have scored well in 2 matches and that has given me a lot of confidence"

"The atmosphere in the team is very good"

"I am very hopeful that I will do well in the series"

"Whether you do well in T20Is or ODIs, it gives you confidence when you score runs in international cricket"

"I have had a lot of confidence as I had performed well in a One-Day tournament back home"

"Of course this is cricket and its a funny game; you cannot take any side lightly"

"It really doesnt matter if you play against Ireland or England, you have to play good cricket"

"Good performance here will help our youngsters do well in the upcoming series against England"

"We are young side with lot of T20I and ODI experience but Test cricket needs patience and we are looking forward to playing well in it"

"Ireland are playing their first Test so I would like to wish them Good Luck"

"The 2007 World Cup game between Pakistan and Ireland was a great day for Ireland but a sad one for Pakistan"

"On the same day India lost to Bangladesh so we were happy"

"There is pressure on the new guys in Tests but they have already played some international cricket and they have that confidence, spark and energy; our management is backing us too"

"Its tough to come and play in conditions which are different from the sub-continent but we have been working hard for the past 1.5 months"

"Our nation is very fond of cricket so they will be really happy if we do well in cricket here"

"This will be my first Test match and I won't be lying if I said that I will be very nervous"

"Playing Test cricket for my country has always been my dream"

"I have always wanted to play Test cricket and that time has come"

"As a sportsman, you are always under pressure whether its the first or last game but am confident that I have prepared well"

He's a good addition to the test side. He's young and can be a long term investment.

Hum to doobay hain sanam, tumko bhi le doobenge :)))

Same was said about sami aslam during the last english summer and now he is sidelined after being in and out of the side for wrong reasons..it is also an example that what will do to a players confidence if he is in and out of the side.

A player does well in tests , suddenly drafted into ODIs . A player does well in ODIs , suddenly drafted into tests... Not everyone are sachin or kohli... For a reason Rohit sharma plays LOIs and Pujara plays only tests..

Will see how they manage this guy Imam now as it looks they have already forgot Sami aslam and his heroics in test cricket during last summer in UK which helped them to draw the series..

Bit brainless to mention the India loss, our players really do need intensive media training courses, did have a laugh though

lol @ India mention ps it sounds as if he is already assured of an opening slot for the test

Hopefully he is as good a player as his Uncle thinks he is otherwise he willl linger on for several years destroying careers of more talented players.

Imam ul haq Happy India lost to bangladesh worldcup

Was just seeing a video about imam ul haqs reaction in wc 2007. Obviously sad when pak lost but happy India lost as well. Do not understand why such obession whenever India does not give 2 hoots about Pakistan

So far a 2nd innings specialist, terrible in 1st innings but could be conditions

Kick this guy out of the team if he doesn't perform in the second innings. He's been awful in this series. I personally am not a fan of minnow-bashing. If he won't perform against the best teams then he shouldnt be playing. We have other options as openers.

Imam clearly has technical flaws with his batting which can be worked on as he is young and will listen.

Well obviously facing an Ireland attack would be different to facing Anderson and Broad, he has now two dismissals to both opening bowlers. Clearly he has some issues that were hidden due to him facing below average attacks

He is an excellent fielder.

Not sure about his batting yet. Need to see more of it. Many good openers have come a cropper against Anderson and Broad with the new ball in English conditions - he cannot be judged on that alone.

I also like that he wears spectacles out on the field of play. All too rare these days.

Give him time broad and Anderson in early English summer is the toughest challenge for any opener it will not get harder then this

He isn't international class overall unlikely he would've been selected if Inzi wasn't the chief selector.

he has one more innings in England to make a mark, otherwise I think Fakhar will be preferred over him in the next test series

He's still young and new but has the talent to be a success for Pakistan. Sure he has flaws but he can work on them. Thank go Mickey is our coach and not Waqar, with MA he can become a solid opener under Waqar not so much.

Played a very good, underrated knock against Ireland in ten second innings. Those runs did not come easy. Have patience he is still young.

He’s a good batsman and fielder. Important for a young team to get exposure in swinging conditions

We have to stick with him. I see alot of talent in him and I think he's going to be a big star for us inshallah.

At first I thought it was blatant nepotism but having seen him I'm very excited about him.

Seasoned stars struggle in England and it's unfair to scrutinize him over these two tests.

We have to stick with him for all tests and odi's this year even if he scores 20s, 30s or 40s. Giving him this security will pay dividends for us.

I've followed cricket for a long time and he's the one that's really got me excited.

Technique doesn't look good but he is scoring runs

Fine, drop him for now though. I think Fakhar should open for us in Tests.

35 averaging opener at best. Good for Pakistani standards, average for international standards.

Would never have made the squad had chachu not been CS... Absolute garbage bat.

Seems okay. Not without his faults but he can be given a longer rope. He’s still very young and can improve.

I like him. Top scorer in the 2nd innings for Pakistan and played a superb innings against Ireland when it mattered. Should be retained.

First Class and List A average is mid 30's . What makes you think that he will be a superstar in international cricket? Serioulsy if this is not clear nepotism then I don't know what is?

Age is on his side, and he is fast tracked into International cricket and wil be given ample of chances. Even if he doesn't perform he will always be a 12th member and will be utlized until Izi is the selector. He is a project and not going anywhere. Sorry I'm just angry he is getting selected over other talented players. He is no where near Hasan Ali, shadab , fahim, fakhar when it comes to talent.

He gets unfairly maligned for being in I nephew I believe with some technical adjustment luck and hard work he will be opening for Pakistan for next decade

Must be hurt as everyone is after sarfraz and Asad so you are taking your anger out on a guy who won a match. He is here to stay live with it.
