For me the biggest negative for India is that they failed at planning. BCCI, the management, Kohli et al failed to make the right decisions.

Examples:
1) India's biggest issue before the WC was the middle order. KL, Rayadu and Vijay all auditioned for the same role. When KL finally made the position his own, he was moved to the opening slot. This meant that the problem with middle order remained and now KL had to start again as an opener. To my mind, this was cruel on KL. You can't keep telling a guy to change his mindset.

2) DK was selected over Pant in the initial squad but Pant was put in the XI before DK. Now maybe it was indeed better to play Pant over DK but it reflects poor planning.

To be fair, India played one poor game and got knocked out. They had a good WC IMO. The problem for me lies in poor decision making. Such blunders may be expected from PCB or other unprofessional boards but I felt that BCCI was managed better and their think tanks would know better. However, what I have been surprised to find out is that India, with all its power and resources, is still not out of its third world problems.

KL Rahul, Dhoni, Jadhav, Shankar should be promptly shown the door.

Groom a young team including Pant, Gill, Shaw, Samson, Iyer. The West Indies ODI series in August is a good place to start.

I was majorly disappointed in Kohli as I expected him to step up when the going got tough. Dhoni has been rubbish for a while and he was rubbish here too. Rahul was crap despite his hundred against Bangladesh. He is a walking wicket under pressure. Jadhav/Shankar/DK were there to just fill up the spots. Kuldeep and Chahal look threatening at points but were failures overall.

Positives were Pant, although it feels like he lacks a sound cricketing brain. Gets out to stupid shots. He is young and should improve. Jadeja was excellent and he should be back as an ODI regular. Rohit Sharma was our best player easily. Shami took wickets but leaked runs, have mixed feelings about him. Bumrah was solid while Bhuvi was good too.
