Both teams are at a similar level in terms of talent and skill, but Pakistan have the edge because of more experience.
Not selecting Yasir was a mistake. Even if he is not fully fit, he is still the only match-winning bowler in the Test team and the pitches will assist spinners.
Looking forward to another cracker of a series between two evenly matched teams.

Babar will never get a better chance to hit a daddy century in test cricket. It's his favourite side too. If he doesn't it would be disappointing.

I know we are not brimming with talent but making Pakistan and Zimbabwe equal in talent just shows how bias you are towards your own country.

I think the pitches are seamer friendly. From 2011 and 2013 we played only 1 spinner both times.

Pakistan should really take it 2-0. However our tests with Zimbabwe were fairly close in 2011 and 2013.

Pakistan can go to 5th position if we beat Zimbabwe 2-0 (displacing SA)
InshAllah we should win 2-0 I feel. Sean Williams might be out of the series, he looked totally unlike himself today plus Sikander is out for an indefinite period and he’s been their most successful bowler as of late in these conditions.
The test team have been practising quite a bit and it will be interesting to see how good is M. Yousaf as a batting coach because he’s been working with them in the camp in Lahore and will have here as well.

According to Howstat I believe Sikander Raza has been their most successful bowler on these conditions and specifically Harare Sports Club. Pakistan has good enough spinners in Nauman and Zahid to do a job along with Fawad who will be a useful part time option as well. Not fussed by Yasir not playing but from what I saw Zahid looked quite nice in training camp.
On what evidence are you claiming the 2 teams have similar talent? what’s the data?
Don’t let that bother you, Pakistan have a solid test team nothing like limited overs.

Hopefully 2-0 Pak. Zimbabwe will definitely punch above their weight if t20 was any sign.

Would be quite an improvement over the dreaded 7th spot we had made our own not long ago.
I’m sure these surfaces have enough in them to force a result so 2-0 is feasible inshAllah.
M. Yousaf has been spending time with the test team so it’ll be interesting to see if the batting looks good.

Batting should be ok. My worry is that Pakistan are going to struggle to bowl Zimbabwe out without Yasir. Who is going to take the wickets?

You should watch the training camp footage in Lahore, Zahid was good and plus with Nuaman Ali he will be a handful. It’ll be a toss up whether they opt for Sajid or Zahid.
Similar to how Afghanistan and India are atm. Both play even matches. The only difference is that India play more cricket. Otherwise Afg would have beaten them to dust in the wc as well

InshAllah. The test team have been working really hard with M. Yousaf in Lahore and working after the t20s I believe so they’ve not skipped a beat. I’ll be interested in seeing how much of a positive influence M. Yousaf’s coaching has had on the batsmen.

I really hope saud gets a chance. No better time to debut than vs Zimbabwe, would be good for him to settle in.
He’ll only get a chance if they decide to open with Azhar Ali and then bring Saud at 3. This needs to be a call by Babar and not Misbah.
They have zahid who's similar to yasir then you have nuaman who can keep it really tight.Then Hassan who loves low pitches.the bowling attack is decent enough for low pitches or even bouncy pitches.
Yes I would make them changes azwell and I'd play azhar opening with imran and saud at 3

Think Zimbabwe are too depleted to pull off an upset in this series, should be a comfortable win for Pakistan. However, it's Pakistan and they do never cease to impress with their penchant for going against the form book.
I think there won't be an adjustment from our test players that have come from Lahore, quite excited about their prep and how they've improved as well. Great chance for some batters to swell their averages and bowlers to make a name for themselves as well.

Zimbabwe is ranked very low. However they have potential to upset( which makes their low ranking a bit deceptive). Pakistan has to figure out it's issues in this series. First of all the openers are they worth keeping, then the Role of Faheem Ashraf can he justify his spot both as bowler and Batsman, how good is Nauman Ali etc

Pakistan are already at 5 and above SA. Will only gain 1 point by whitewashing Zim.

So although Zimbabwe didn't win a Test, they made WI and SL sweat and even took a 1st innings lead against SL in their last home Test !
I was thinking that at one stage but I don't think they will do that but it's worth a try against zimbabwe especially

Pakistan is currently ranked 5 and anything other than 0-2 would mean going down as Zim is ranked pretty low.
Pak will have to be ruthless and professional in the series to get the result expected of them. Zim at home can be tricky, we havent seen much upsets for other sides as you cant lose if you dont play.
