I really like this, great to see legends given such a status for the brilliance in the Premier League over the years.

So far we have 2 inductees.

1. Alan Shearer - Greatest PL striker by far, the man had it all, power, speed, strength. He scored 260 PL goals, a record will which take some beating! He could score from a free kick, pens, headers, volleys, all methods.

2. Thierry Henry - Magical at time, gluided through the turf with his mezmorising skills. Henry often played out wide on the left, but could still score plenty of goals along with many assists. A major reason Arsenal became such a great team.

The most overrated player in PL history (Giggs), who was not deemed world class even by his own manager, rightfully got shafted out of the HoF because of domestic violence. You love to see it.

He is overated but good decision to not include him. Abuse against women shouldnt be tolerated.

Please name your 6 picks from the list in the OP.

Shearer and Henry already inducted. 6 from the list.

My 6. Difficult for a LFC fan as most will be Utd or Arsenal players from this intial list.

Gerrard - Never won the PL but in a weak LFC team he nearly did it. Could play in any position and domiate.

Eric Cantona - His signing was the first step for Utd to dominate for years. So much skills with the ball. His flying kick into the Palace fan was a disgrace but you cant rule him for this reason.

Dennis Bergkamp - My fav Arsenal player, sometimes it seemed he had 4 years, his vision was brilliant.

Roy Keane - Brutal in midfield, when Utd lost the ball he quickly won it back to start the counter.

John Terry - Arguably the best English defender in the last 30 years, great captain too.

David Beckham - Still not seen a better crosser of a football in the PL.

Surprised to see Carragher excluded. There is no doubt that he is a PL legend and right up there with the likes of Terry, Ferdinand and Vidic.

The fact that he never won the league was not his fault. He consistently performed at a very high level in his individual capacity.

Thierry Henry was the only striker who consistently got the better of him. Other than that, he held his own against pretty much everyone.

I know, but I included Henry and Shearer in my top 6.

Beckham was good but purely on footballing credentials he does not deserve to be among the top 6 picks IMO.

I went with Vieira over Cantona because of my Arsenal bias and also because of his leadership. He left 16 years ago, but Arsenal are yet to fill his void both as a midfielder and as a leader.

Stevie G is a must. He carried Liverpool on his own for years winning most things other the the title. Not sure Les, Sol and Matthew should be on the list. Beckham although a great crosser was more of show pony. Even most Man Utd fans do not regard him as their all time great.

Matt Le Tissier 'steps aside' from ambassador role at Southampton

Matt Le Tissier says he has "stepped aside" from his role as ambassador at former club Southampton.

The former midfielder said he took the step to "separate the work I believe in from my relationship with the club".

On Tuesday, he deleted a tweet suggesting media manipulation in the reporting on the war in Ukraine.

"My views are my own and always have been, and it's important to take this step today to avoid any confusion," Le Tissier wrote on Twitter.

"I will always remain a fan and supporter of everything Saints. I can, however, see that due to recent events it's important to separate the work I believe in from my relationship with the club."

After deleting the tweet about the war in Ukraine, the 53-year-old said it was because people were "missing the point" and insisted he did not advocate war "in any way shape or form".

In recent years the former England international has become known for having outspoken views, including on the media and the Covid-19 pandemic, but speaking to the Telegraph in February he rejected suggestions he was a conspiracy theorist.

Le Tissier, who was appointed club ambassador in January 2019, is Southampton's second all-time top scorer after scoring 209 goals in 540 games between 1986 and 2002.

After retiring from playing he became a TV pundit and worked as a panellist on Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday programme until August 2020.
