President’s Trophy Grade-II to be played from 12 May to 11 June

The Pakistan Cricket Board today announced details of the President’s Trophy Grade-II three-day non-first-class tournament, which will be played in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from May 12 to June 11.

The departments’ event, returning to the national circuit after the 2018-2019 season, will include 24 sides, which have been equally divided into four pools. Table toppers will progress to the semifinals, with the winners qualifying for the final.

The sides participating in the tournament are: Ahmad Glass, Azlaan Traders, Capital Development Authority, Eshaal Associates, Ghani Institute, Haidery Traders, Income Tax, JDW Sugar Mills Ltd, JJ's Consultancy Group, Karwan CC, Khayaban-e-Amin, MAQ Group, MiT Solutions, OGDCL, Omar Associates, Pak-Saudi International, Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Railways, Sabir's Poultry, Sardar Sports & Group, Service Industries and TARA Group.

Pool A will comprise Ahmad Glass, Income Tax, Khayaban-e-Amin, Pakistan Railways, Service Industries, and TARA Group, and will play their matches in Lahore at the LCCA ground, Railways Stadium, and Central Park Cricket Club Ground.

Pool B includes Haidery Traders, JJ’s Consultancy Group, Karwan CC, MiT Solutions, Pak-Saudi International, and Sabir’s Poultry, and will play their matches at various Khyber Pakhtunkhwa venues, including Gohati Cricket Ground, Swabi; Shama Cricket Ground, Peshawar; and Mardan Sports Complex, Mardan.

Capital Development Authority, JDW Sugar Mills Ltd, OGDCL, Omar Associates, Pakistan Army, and Pakistan Air Force form Pool C, and will play their matches in Islamabad at the National Ground, Diamond Ground and Shalimar Cricket Ground.

Azlaan Traders, Eshaal Associates, Ghani Institute, MAQ Group, Pakistan Navy, and Sardar Group are in Pool D, with matches to be played at the Rana Naved ul Hasan Cricket Academy, Sheikhupura; Azhar Ali Academy ground, Valencia Town, Lahore, and Lahore Country Club, Muridke.

The two semifinals will be played from June 3 to June 5, with the final from June 8 to June 11. Venues of the three matches will be confirmed in due course.

President's Trophy Grade-II final begins tomorrow​


The final of the President’s Trophy Grade-II 2023-24 will be played between Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Eshaal Associates at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium in Abbottabad from tomorrow. It will be a four-day game taking place from 8 to 11 June.
The winner will bag a cash prize of PKR 1.5 million while the runners-up team will be awarded PKR 0.75 million. The best batter, bowler, wicket-keeper and the player of the tournament will be awarded PKR 50,000 each.

A total of 24 sides took part in the tournament, which were placed in four different pools. Table toppers in each pool locked horns in the semi-finals of the tournament. OGDCL beat Khayaban-e-Amin while Eshaal Associates beat MIT Solutions to qualify for the tournament's final.

Eshaal Associates won three matches, lost one and drew one game in their group. On the other hand, OGDCL won four games and lost just one in their pool matches before qualifying for the semi-final.

For OGDCL, Adil Amin has scored 410 runs in six matches while Jawad Ali has picked up 37 wickets. Afaq Ahmed scored the most runs for Eshaal Associates, scoring 603 runs in five games while Hamza Sajjad picked up 18 wickets.
 

Eshaal Associates dominate OGDCL on opening day of President's Trophy Grade-II final​


Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) found themselves in trouble against Eshaal Associates on the opening day of the final of President’s Trophy Grade-II at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, Abbottabad. At the close of play on Day one OGDCL trailed by 233 runs with six wickets in hand in reply to Eshaal Associates’ first innings total of 297 all out in 59.3 overs.

Eshaal Associates made good use of the invitation to bat first as their opening batter Mohammad Sudais struck a fluent half-century (87, 111b, 10x4, 1x6). Sudais’ opening partner, Afaq Ahmed, chipped in with a brisk 43 off 29 balls hitting six fours and two sixes.

Later in the innings, Abdul Rehman (43, 52b, 5x4s, 1x6), batting at six, and Mohammad Adil (37 not out, 46b 4x4s, 1x6), batting at nine, kept the innings intact and helped their team notch a healthy total of 297. For OGDCL, Mohammad Huzaifa picked up four wickets while Mohammad Sarwar Afridi dismissed three batters. Leg-spinner Jawad Ali managed two scalps.

In reply, OGDCL were reduced to 64-4 as Abbas Ali and Mohammad Umair departed for ducks while opening batter Raja Hamza Waheed contributed with 24 runs comprising five boundaries. Mohammad Hammad Khan fell after scoring 29 off 34 balls with the help of five fours. Rizwan Ali (11 not out, 23b, 1x4) will on the crease when OGDCL resume their innings on day two.

Eshaal Associates’ Mohammad Adil struck twice in his five overs while Mamoon Riaz and Hamza Sajjad picked up one wicket each.

Rizwan Ali's unbeaten century inspires OGDCL to first innings lead on Day two​


Eshaal Associates lead by 109 runs with six wickets in hand in the second innings against Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) at the end of day two of the President's Trophy Grade-II final at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.

Earlier, at the start of the day, OGDCL continued their first innings from the overnight score of 64-4 and went on to post 315-7 in the allotted 75 overs. Wicketkeeper batter, Rizwan Ali struck a magnificent unbeaten century (143 not out, 205b, 14x4s, 1x6) to help his team gain a vital 18-run first-innings lead over Eshaal Associates.

Rizwan was aided by Mohammad Sarwar Afridi, batting at seven, who contributed 84 off 123 balls hitting seven fours and one six. The duo also stitched a 169-run seventh wicket stand. For Eshaal Associates, Mohammad Adil picked up three wickets. Hamza Sajjad dismissed two batters while Mamoon Riaz bagged one wicket.

In turn, Eshaal Associates’ opening batters, Mohammad Sudais (34, 36b, 4x4s, 2x6s) and Afaq Ahmed (23, 43b, 2x4s) put on a 51-run opening stand before the wickets started tumbling on regular intervals. Ahmer Ashfaq departed for a duck while Faizan Zafar scored 21 off 43 balls with the help of two boundaries.

Sajjad Ibrahim (33 not out, 44b, 6x4s) and Abdul Rehman (6 not out, 11b, 1x4), who added 22 runs before stumps were drawn on day two, will resume batting on day three for Eshaal Associates who will look to extend their 109-run lead.

OGDCL’s Mohammad Sarwar Afridi had a field day with bat and ball, picking up figures of 3-21 after scoring a valuable half-century while Mushtaq Ahmed picked up one wicket.

Mushtaq bags five-wicket haul on day three to put OGDCL ahead of Eshaal Associates​

Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) require 162 more runs to win the President’s Trophy Grade-II final after they finished day three with 93 for no loss in pursuit of the 255-run target set by Eshaal Associates at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.

Earlier in the day, Eshaal Associates resumed their second innings from 127-4 and added only 145 runs to their overnight total. Sajjad Ibrahim (38, 55b, 7x4s) departed after adding just five runs to his overnight score of 33.

Abdul Rehman contributed with 40 off 75 balls with the help of six boundaries while Sajjad Ali’s brisk half-century (58, 41b, 6x4s, 3x6s) helped his team to manage a fighting total. Shahzaib Bhatti, batting at nine, also chipped in with 30 off 30 balls hitting one boundary and two sixes.

For OGDCL, Mushtaq Ahmed picked up figures of 5-93 in 17.2 overs while he was aided by Mohammad Sarwar Afridi who bagged four wickets.

In pursuit of the 255-run target, OGDCL opening batters, Raja Hamza Waheed (57 not out, 61b, 10x4s) and Abbas Ali (34 not out, 61b, 3x4s, 2x6s) cruised to 93 before the rain arrived and cut short the last session.

Raja Hamza Waheed powers OGDCL to President’s Trophy Grade-II title win

Lahore, 11 June 2024: Raja Hamza Waheed struck an unbeaten match-winning second-innings ton to power the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) to a nine-wicket win over Eshaal Associates on day four of the President’s Trophy Grade-II final at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.

Raja Hamza struck 143 not out in his 159-ball stay at the crease hitting 22 boundaries and two sixes. OGDCL began day four with their overnight score of 93-0 and added the required 162 runs to seal the 255-run target losing only Abbas Ali (51, 82b, 5x4s, 2x6s) who fell to Hamza Sajjad. OGDCL chased the target in 50.3 overs.

Abbas and Raja Hamza stitched an opening partnership of 135 runs. Mohammad Umair, batting at three, chipped in with an unbeaten half-century (51 not out, 65b, 8x4s) to help his team get over the line and also shared a 120-run second wicket stand with Raja Hamza.

OGDCL, having won the President’s Trophy Grade-II tournament, have qualified for the President’s Trophy Grade-I tournament in the upcoming 2024-25 domestic season. OGDCL bagged a cash prize of PKR 1.5 million while the runners-up, Eshaal Associates were awarded PKR 0.75 million.
