"When match first started, conditions were as expected such as there were clouds and it was a little cold on the first day and it was good for bowling"

"On second day, conditions were good throughout the day for batting and there were good partnerships and we got the practice that we would have liked before the Test match"

"As I’ve said before, first day bowling conditions were good and batting conditions were good today, the pitch dried out and the ball did not swing like it did on the first day. The team will have got an idea about the conditions from today’s play and we got very good practice"

"In the two practice matches, we have tried different combinations and we have got ideal practice before the test matches because the fast-bowlers have bowled 15 overs each - today mashAllah the batsmen have had a good runout. Two or three have got 50s so we have had ideal practice before the test match and inshAllah will help us in the test match"

"Pressure is not the right word, but I do feel I have added responsibility. Before coming here, I have said in a presser that there are responsibilities on me, Azhar Ali and Sarfaraz as we have played around 50 or more Test matches each"

"We can’t question the services that Misbah and Younis have given to Pakistan, they have done so much for Pakistan but I, Azhar and Sarfaraz will try our best to mitigate the absence felt by the loss of Misbah and Younis"

Well with your timid batting and attitude you will most likely fail

Will get a 100 in 4th innings when all is lost.

All hope on azhar and sarfafaz. Hopefully the young guns can chip in.

He needs to carry on like this against Ireland and England. Hopefully he hasn't fulfilled his quota of good innings.

He needs to step up. Has enough experience. Has been given a lot of backing. Most players from other countries would thrive with such responsbillity.

Asad Shafiq - a failure under pressure?

Nope, he's a failure even WITHOUT pressure! Heh, everyone used to bash me when I called him out and made the thread some years ago.

Out of his 50 tests how many has he played in Karachi?? Typical basher *♂️

Asad never scores when it’ matters. That’s the bottom line. I’ve been saying hat for too long now.

Yes he’ll score you hundreds every now and then but what good is it when he won’t be able to do that when it really matters.

He’s got a sub 40 average now so I don’t see why we keep pressirring with him.

Responsibility on Shafiq and his performance levels are completely inversely proportional
