Swedish artist Lars Vilks, who sketched the Prophet Muhammad's head on a dog's body, has died in a traffic accident.

Vilks was reported to be travelling in a civilian police vehicle which collided with a truck near the town of Markaryd in southern Sweden.

Two police officers were also killed and the truck driver was injured.

The 75-year-old artist had been living under police protection after being subjected to death threats over the cartoon.

The cartoon, published in 2007, offended many Muslims who regard visual representation of the Prophet as blasphemous. It came a year after a Danish newspaper published cartoons of the Prophet.

I have done research on the subject, i suggest you do the same on the matter from independent not western sources. Yes the Taliban are no angel's yet there is also a lot of bias against them too. They are indeed against progress like educating their ladies and such things.

Celebrating the death of someone who drew a cartoon is another way to fuel the negative perception of Muslims by some people in the West. If Muslims (and non-Muslims who are against genocide, like myself) were celebrating the death of the Butchers of Bosnia (can't remember their names), Xi Ping (and his compatriots who oppress the Uighurs), Netanyahu (and his compatriots who oppress the Palestinians), Modi (and his BJP government), etc then that would be fine, and I would be happy also. i felt the same way when i first saw South Park making fun of Prophet Muhammad.

Felt uneasy and ignored it. Didnt wish for anyones death, just stopped watching South Park since than.

What I realized is that, you look at Gandhi or Einstein, you will find people who criticized or made fun of them. Both these personalities are quite famous.

Prophet Muhammad comes across as much bigger personality. Thus, it is unrealistic to expect that everyone in the world would respect him. I have accepted that I will come across people who might criticize him or resort to satire.

I tend to ignore it. Wishing for the said persons death what not, helps no one and only makes us look bad. Whenever such events take place, the people effect are not even those that make satire it is us Pakistanis. Because the mullahs here block the road and cause economic disaster.

But every personality that is quite famous will have its critics whether fair or unfair. You have to accept that.
