Two powerhouse sides are set to clash in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 fixture. Multan Sultans, currently holding a top-two spot, will face the reigning champions, Lahore Qalandars. For Shaheen Afridi and his team, this will be their first outing since a turbulent week marked by controversies.

The Qalandars have made headlines for the wrong reasons—ranging from security breaches to ball-tampering allegations. Disciplinary action has followed, including fines and a two-match suspension for Fakhar Zaman, leaving the squad with the challenge of regrouping and restoring focus.

The contest is scheduled for Friday at Gaddafi Stadium. Multan Sultans enter the game with momentum, having won both of their matches so far, including a record chase of 225 runs against Hyderabad Kingsmen. A third consecutive victory would give them a perfect start and a hat trick of wins.

Squads:

Multan Sultans
Squad: Sahibzada Farhan, Steven Smith, Josh Philippe(w), Shan Masood, Ashton Turner(c), Arafat Minhas, Mohammad Nawaz, Peter Siddle, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Shehzad Gul, Momin Qamar, Atizaz Habib Khan, Muhammad Ismail, Awais Zafar, Muhammad Shahzad, Lachlan Shaw, Faisal Akram, Delano Potgieter, Mohammad Imran Randhawa, Arshad Iqbal, Tabraiz Shamsi

Would be very surprised if we get a game. Weather isn’t looking too encouraging and the Lahore Ground Staff isn’t equipped to deal with issues of persistent rain.

They knew this well in advance. No fans allowed, so it should not have been too difficult to change the venue.

They are extremely lazy and disinterested this time.

Very frustrating league and organisation. Zero proactive measures!

On top of it,

You have umpires this time who are desperate to take centre stage. They want to bring the covers on even if there is slight moisture in the wind let alone actual rainfall!

The level has dropped big time, so performances mean 0, but thats the whole issue. perform here and get selected for Pak. Once they reach Pak team and play proper teams they get exposed, has been the case for years now.

Babar Azam
Shadab Khan
Imad wasim
Azam Khan (not sure how he actually finds a team)

Just a few examples.

Weather in Multan is fine

Could have shifted the weekend fixtures to Multan…

You had the weekend forecast before you and the experience on Tuesday should have made you proactive!

PSL turning into a complete disaster ! , the two venue policy has further hampered the competition
