At the end of the day (yesterday) when Lahore Qalandars were boarding their bus, a group of kids wanted autographs from Umar Akmal. The security, as is the case in this part of the world, were their normal heavy handed selves and pushed the kids back.

The kids kept on shouting Umar's name and the good man he is, he noticed their chanting. He had already boarded the bus but decided to come off to meet them but he was stopped by security.

Umar then argued with the security guys and eventually they agreed to allow the kids to come up to bus and get his autographs.

This to me is what PSL is - its the fan interaction with players. PSL management must make sure that heroes are made from this tournament and the best way is to allow such interaction.

And of course well done to Umar Akmal!

Very important for psl players to make that contact with fans

Of course, he's only got a few left. He has to treat them right. He knows that.

Needs to score runs, as long as he is scoring runs no one will care about him misbehaving with fans.

Umar is a nice guy at least in this regard. I remember in 2012 after the end of the 2nd day's play of the 3rd test against England in Dubai, me and few friends waited outside the exit towards the bus. We weren't allowed anywhere near the bus. We saw a cricketer and gestured him for a pic but he conveniently ignored us. Then we saw Umar Akmal sat on a sofa munching on to his pizza :D. He was at the other side of the glass and we requested him for a pic, he immediately left what he was eating and came out to have a couple of clicks with us. Looked like a nice fellow to me back then.

Shukar ae rabba koi te changi khabar ayi! He is most hated person on PP. some Positive news about this poor guy! Excellent gesture!!

If they aren't careful the 50 or so fans who actually attend matches will stop going due to the ridiulous security.

I would rather he be rude, disrespectful scoring loads of runs as opposed to where he is right now.

I think you missed this part. :sarf2

Parents should keep their young kids far away from Umar Akmal, the poster boy for undeserved fame. Not the message impressionable young children should be hearing.

Yes. A single slip can be costly. There should be a security check plan for such improvised interactions.
