PSL should allow TRADES during the season to make it spicier...

I think one factor that PSL could add to make itself spicier is trades during the season. Options are unlimited but here is what i am thinking along the lines of...

1. Allow teams to trade up to 1 player each during the season.
2. The trade must happen before the 7th game takes place (or a cut off date which is very close to this milestone for majority of teams.
3. The trade must be for a straight 1 for 1 player only.
4. The trade must be between players of the same category or 1 up/down.
5. Pay up for the player you are acquiring (what ever the difference is).

This will no doubt spice things up as is, but also has many other benefits. Sometimes a player needs a new scenery/set up. Sometimes you have a team settled without giving certain players (usually youngsters) a true chance to play at all where another team could have used them. For example, Lahore this year had trouble with batsmen, where as quetta didnt use saud at all... they could have made a trade.

I agree. Or allow a team to drop a player and add somebody else to the squad. Just like in MLB and NBA.

No that's what the draft is there for. People are over analysing the PSL.

It's not like a football transfer window and shouldn't be. Teams have a roster and focus on how to get the most out of it, not seeing who to potentially cut loose and gain midway through a tournament to readjust for the adjustment. Not a fan of the idea. You should have a skillgap being created by a poor draft in the first place, that is on the team that made the poor draft, they don't deserve a free catch-up card with another imbalanced team to reach an already well drafted team.

and then you have teams like Lahore who royally mess it up, and then instead of having a washout of a season, try to make something out of it perhaps... it adds a new dimension...

its not a compulsory move, teams only trade if there is a need.

Should have an auction every edition IMO. Allow teams to retain a certain amount of players maximum (e.g. maybe 4 or something).

I would also make it so that upon reaching the knock out stages, foreign players may be drafted from the teams that do not make the final four to fill in the stages where their own foreign players don't want to travel to Pakistan. Would be a like for like though, for example a Platinum player can only be drafted for another Platinum player, though a gold player for example would be able to be drafted for a missing Platinum player too.

You have 1 year to scout players. Once the season starts the cricket should be the focus.

Not a great idea, works in football not in cricket
The season is short already, the chances are after the 7th game teams are yet to get their combination right
So wouldn’t make sense to make any trades at this stage

There is an argument this should happen, especially when a team loses a player through injury. Just look at what has happened to LQ; they have lost Hafeez but most the middle order replacements are warming the bench for other teams (Saud and Danish in particular).

LOL when kids watch too much NBA or NHL or NFL

those leagues run for a whole season. A NHL season runs for 82 games.

PSL is only for 3-4 weeks

trading players within same categories would definitely make things a little more fun, and give teams a chance to balance their rosters after an initial look. Maybe have a week during the early part of the season where trade's are allowed?

it would also make the PSL a little unique, as it is, most T20 leagues function the exact same way

Not a bad option as many international stars who missed out due to international commitments might get inducted after they get free from their commitments in mid of a tournament.

I dont like the way PSL draft system works i.e. team on the last position in table will have 1st pick etc. However, i am not in favour of mid-season trades as well.

Very bad idea. Especially for a tournament that lasts only 3-4 weeks. I heard IPL introduced this but I would say it's a bad idea for even for a tournament like IPL which is longer than the PSL.

Can they tweak the rules so that teams can substitute a player in the middle of a match?
