LAHORE: (Web Desk) – Awami National Party (ANP) Central Vice President Bushra Gohar has on Tuesday tweeted that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) councillor Arif Khan who had allegedly stoned Mashal Khan to death last month in Mardan has escaped to Thailand.

In a tweet, Bushra Gohar said that PTI MPA from Mardan PK-26 Iftikhar Mashwani has allegedly helped Arif Khan to flee Pakistan. “[PTI] Councillor [Arif Khan] who stoned [Mashal Khan] to death was allegedly helped by MPA [Ifthikhar Mashwani] to escape to Thailand”.

It is pertinent to mention here that a video had emerged after Mashal s lynching where Arif Khan could be seen telling the mob not to name the killers of Mashal Khan and went on to say that whoever named the killers would be considered a blasphemer .

Junaid Khan visits Mashal Khan's family

MARDAN: (Web Desk) Star cricketer Junaid Khan has on Tuesday visited the slain student Mashal Khan’s home where he condoled with his family.

Junaid Khan is not the first person to visit Mashal Khan’s home. Last month Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan had also visited his home in Mardan and announced that Mashal’s murderers would not be let off under any condition.

However, Awami National Party (ANP) leader Bushra Gohar tweeted earlier today that PTI’s member of provincial assembly from Mardan PK-26 has allegedly helped PTI councillor Arif Khan to escape to Thailand.

Mashal s murderer helped by PTI MPA to escape to Thailand: Bushra Gohar

Arif Khan is one of the accused in the murder and a video of him had emerged last month where he could be seen telling the mob not to name Mashal’s murderers or else they’d be considered as ‘blasphemers’.

Mardan police admit PTI councillor involved in Mashal Khan lynching still at large

Arif Khan, a Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) councillor who was seen warning a crowd not to name Mashal Khan's murderer after the student's lynching, has yet to be arrested, police officials in Mardan told DawnNews.

Arif was previously thought to have been arrested after police unveiled a list of 49 identified suspects and claimed to have captured 47 of them.

Questions over Arif Khan's arrest were raised, however, when senior Awami National Party (ANP) leader Bushra Gohar tweeted on Tuesday night that the suspect was still at large and that a PTI MPA was trying to help him escape to Thailand.

When police sources were subsequently asked about Arif's status, they admitted that the suspect was not yet in custody.

Sources within the police further revealed that the Arif Khan previously mentioned in the list of arrests made in the case was, in fact, a university employee who shared the same name with the PTI councillor.

Police officials in Mardan assured DawnNews, however, that the suspect in question could not leave the country as his passport has expired.

They added that they were still on his trail, with his last reported sighting on April 30 in Mohmand Agency.
PPP issues notices to workers

PPP issued notices to party workers, including the district naib nazim of Mardan, for violating party policy regarding Mashal Khan's murder.

The party's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chapter called on former speaker Ikramullah Shahid, District Naib Nazim Asad Kashmiri, and Abid Ali Shah to clarify their positions for participating in a rally held in favour of the perpetrators of the Mardan university lynching.

The notification, a copy of which is available with DawnNews, issued by the secretary general KP chapter stated, "You are well aware your act is in direct violation of party discipline. You are therefore given seven days to respond and clarify your position."

Just to put things into perspective, this is what PPP is doing:

As bad as they are on other fronts, hats of to them for this move. ANP too for being the only party not to participate in that vile rally.

every party has its bad apples.

Point is how will the party deal with the member concerned.

Other parties would had brushed this under the carpet and not make a big fuss about it

lets see what PTI does in action

The PTI must make sure that the Law enforcement agencies are given all the backing needed to do their job.

Mardan student lynching: KP police decides to include names of suspects in ECL

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police has decided to included the names of two suspects of Mardan student lynching case in the Exit Control List (ECL), Samaa reported.

KP Police has requested Interior Ministry to include the names two absconders in Mashal Khan’s lynching case name Arif Khan and Ali Khan.

Police has sent the details of the two suspects in the letter to Interior Ministry.

It should be noted that both suspects have been accused of inciting the mob to torture Mashal Khan.

It should be noted that hundreds of students beat to death a classmate known for his liberal views on a university campus in the country’s conservative northwest Thursday.

Mashal Khan, a journalism student, was stripped, beaten, shot, and thrown from the second floor of his hostel at the Abdul Wali Khan university in Mardan, sources at the university said.

Graphic video footage from the scene shows dozens of men outside the hostel kicking and hurling projectiles at a body sprawled on the ground.

The killing comes as Pakistani authorities including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan have been increasingly vocal over blasphemy in recent weeks.

The authorities have arrested 47 suspects in the case so far.

Any progress on this case? Expecting better from PTI.

Mashal Khan's father gave the following statement to the media yesterday outside Haripur Jail (where the 57 accused are being tried):

"Neither the federal nor provincial government has provided me with any sort of assistance during the trial and the provincial government did not provide a lawyer*. There have been rumors on the media of a jirga to settle the issue. Those reports are categorically false. Do not come to me with a jirga because I'm fighting this case for the other Mashaals of this country. I have not been offered any foreign citizenship. The provincial government has not provided me with any security. On the surface it makes sense since no one has threatened me but then no one had threatened my son either."

* Not sure why he needs a lawyer but that's what he said.

Thanks.
Poor from Federal and especially provincial government.

The PTI must see this through and not get sucked into political machinations for short term gain.

Absolutely, they must ensure the case doesn't get dragged for years and case is used to warn all the glory hunters not to even think about taking law in their own hands.

Lets see those that accused the PTI of conniving to let this escape apologise today. Well done KP police.

Great job by KPK police, he had fled the country to escape his arrest and if KPK government was helping him then he would not be arrested today.

I can only laugh at people who seriously thought Imran Khan and KPK government would actually care about a councillor who committed such a serious crime when he even sacked a sitting minister for corruption :))

And the muredererof the doc has also been arrested according to reports ....Can someone confirm it?

Great stuff by KP police. Just how it should be.

but but look Imran is getting married again and he has no chance and tajarba and sher and and and..

Dont you think its great work [MENTION=131701]Mamoon[/MENTION]. Remember in Punjab it took 7 dead girls before they decided its important to catch the murderer after the media outrage.

What's interesting is people who showed so much concern in Mashal Khan and Asma Rani case never even bothered to acknowledge that the culprits have been arrested and appreciate great professional work of independent police.

Even though KPK police had already done tremendous job in Mashal case, it was still questioned only because one person had not been arrested (who was some PTI councillor). Now that he has been arrested as well, critics are nowhere to be seen.

Asma Rani's murderer who had fled the country within hours of murder as per pre planning has also been arrested thought interpol and it was well understood that this was going to take some time and they have done that quite quickly.
