Is this a masterstroke by the PTI to work with MQM to transform Karachi or a massive blunder to work with this bhatta khor, gangster laden party?

I think it's not a bad idea. The Bhatto Khors and gangsters are mostly in PSP at the moment. There are still some left, but they're the minority now.

Btw, on this, forgot to add, but contacting Ishrat Ul Ibad for this is disgraceful. The current leaders of MQM are far better than that person.

The people of Karachi voted against MQM. Imran should respect their decision and not slap them in the face.

What happens if no one can form a coalition to reach the required numbers?

Its a very difficult one, i would say yes at this stage because you need numbers but in the long term the aim is to totally supplant the MQM.

We should keep in mind that this MQM is not the MQM of the past . Its more or a army proxy MQM whihc will do what its told to do .Case in point : not joining the APC .

Looks like IK knows his life’s in danger
Don’t think he should join hands with thugs personally

What other choices does he have?

That won't happen. Coalition will be formed.

Re-election will see the majority party winning even more seats, with people giving a clear mandate.

Imran can work with independents, can't he?

MQM will hurt his credibility.

There are problems with either, many of the independents are corrupt and will look to sell to the highest bidder, the MQM are generally not corrupt but are still loyal to Altaf Hussain and hence the problem. Not great either way, i hope he makes a good start and looks to back to the Polls in the next year.

this doesn't make any sense

the people of Karachi did vote for MQM, hence they have 2 NA seats - if anything, Imran Khan is following the people's voice and including the 2 MNAs that the people voted for in his government

Neither a master stroke nor a blunder just the number game. PTI needs MQM or MMA to form the government.

I don't see any issue with this, and I would say MQM are better coalition partners than the other options we have right now. Just look at how PML-Q are stabbing us in the back.

MQM are not the same party as they were in the past, we are not going to see the same "bhatta kor, gangster laden party", those days were gone with Altaf Hussain and the ranger operation.

The general feeling among Karachiites is that they do not mind PTI forming a coalition with MQM at all, so it won't be a slap in the face of Karachiites. Many Karachiites are in fact calling for PTI to form a coalition with MQM, there are some good people in the MQM, and they are far better than these backstabbing PML-Q people, or GDA, who actually far worse than PPP.

A necessary compromise. You can't form the government without allies and MQM's support is needed to form a strong opposition in Sindh as well.

I don't think that's true.

Not sure I like this... We voted AGAINST MQM so that Dr. Arif Alvi could win and now PTI are sitting with the same folks. I guess it will be a bitter pill to swallow but one that is necessary to see IK as PM. However, don't be surprised if MQM reverts back to its blackmailing policies.

PTI supporters should recalibrate their expectations from utopia to realpolitik. Few small concessions can be made for the cause of the Greater Good.

I see...then going with MQM is the practical approach,
