Rafay Ahmed - Another one lost due to the system! [VIDEO #44]

Since every player is getting a thread, I thought let's also keep an eye on Rafay Ahmed.

Looking at the scorecard he seems to have played well against Engalnd u19s.

Made a quickfire 35 from 32 balls With 6 fours and one six.

Allright he didn't make the most of his start, but he didn't Waste many deliveries either for his 35 and he is apparantly only 16.
 
Scored First First class Century
116 Not out in 1st Inning

Currently 36 not Out in 2nd Inning
 
But the standard of the QA trophy would be only slightly better than the Birmingham or Lancashire League cricket.

If they're good enough they will be picked by departments.

QA trophy has a very low standard and competition.
 
Hasn't played a first class match since 2014.

Scored a 100 and unbeaten 50 in his last match.

Rafay has also played 1 one day match, scored 44 runs in that game.

He is the brother off Faisal MMubaisher. both belong to a minority sect in Pakistan.

Minority?are they Christians?thought he was a muslim
 
Really feel sad for those 2 , they have been ignored...
They are from Ahmadiyya Sect maybe thats why...only god knows...

Subsequently He had a A+ start to his domestic Career where He averaged 51 with a Century and a fifty in First Class Cricket. He only played 1 List A match where he scored 44 runs so averages 44 in List A cricket.


Yet what happened next is what exposes the system.


Next 3 years He did not get a single FC or List A match even with a bright start to his domestic cricket.


He is still 20-21. I hope [MENTION=9]Saj[/MENTION] bhaee or any of you Ppers can help him to atleast play domestic cricket something which he richly deserves.
 
We have lost many Tendulkars, Kohli,Ponting on our way to Hafeez, Shan Masood, Bahanja,Bhateejas,Owaiz Zia. shame on PCB :facepaplm
 
If he is the age that talent bhai has said there's time for him to find a FC team.

Which region does he belong to? Did he joined any department?
 
Shocking if he legitimately can't find a spot.

He might not amount to anything, but a spot in FC cricket should be offered.

Rafay missed a season because of twisted ankle. His elder brother is Faisal Mubashir. When you have an elder brother in FC, it's much easier to break into the team. Their cousin Aqeel Anjum is already an accomplished FC player and was last seen playing for NBP. So I don't think being an Ahmadi halts their selection.

was thinking, what's need to hype a player who played only 4 matches in Pak domestic cricket
 
No doubt he made a good start, but his injury (ankle) forced him to leave cricket for some time. He is younger brother of Faisal Bin Mubashir, who is a very fine batsman.
 
Serve Him Justice Now.


At the Age of 18 Rafay had these numbers.

3 Fc Matches Averages 51.25 with a Hundred & Fifty.


1 List A game Averages 44.


Now He is 20 and Hasn't played even 1 Domestic Match in Last 2 years.
 
Has batted superbly for Bahawalpur and lead them very well.

Hope he plays Fc Cricket this Season.

SNGPL should pick him for the spot vacated by Umar Akmal.
 
Only caught a glimpse of him, played some quality shots. Great balance and positions himself well.

There is a Rafay Ahmed captaining Bahawalpur Rising Stars team in the ongoing Lahore Qalandars Rising Stars tournament being telecast live on Geo. He has already smashed a 70 and a 60 and looks a class player.

Is he the same Ahmadi guy (brother of Faisal Mubashir)? Asking because he looks a little different compared to the pictures Cricinfo put up in the article on Rabwah. Can someone confirm?

If this is true, kudos to the Bahawalpur management for not bringing religion in the middle and taking a bold step of making an Ahmadi captain based on pure merit.

Yes. He is the same Boy. He has represented Pakistan Under 19.
 
Rafay was the highest Scorer in Round Matches of Jazz Rising Stars Lahore Qalandars tournament.


Hope He makes the squad of Lahore Qalandars best young players who will do the tour of Australia and will train with Sydney Thunders Squad. They will also play matches with Sydney Thunders second eleven squad.

I don't think they've dropped him. You're confusing the development squad with the main squad. Not everyone will get called to the main squad.

It's true that they should've been here instead of the TTFs but Rafay hasn't been dropped.
 
He should try to move out to UK or somewhere he may get a decent living playing first class or club cricket.

He got no future in Pakistan end of story.
 
is he playing grade 2? if so hows he been performing? if not then you cant really complain that hes lost due to the system when any tom, dick and harry is playing in the ongoing grade 2 tournament.

He is not playing. Grade 2 doesn't happen under CA or ECB. Where is Iftikhar Ahmed of Kasoor ? Don't tell me that he has left Cricket.

He looked good when I saw him play in the Jazz rising stars tournament.Why didn't he play FC last season.Incredibly frustrating when youngsters don't get proper chances.

Such a shame he doesn't get a chance at first class, this the most I've seen of him, highly impressed with his backfoot play.

I hope lahore Qalandars give him a chance in PSL
 
I have not seen him before but going by the video he seemed a good timer of the ball. Some of his shots earlier on resembled Rohit Sharma with that lazy elegance. Wasn't as easy on the eye against spin though.
 
Like Ehtesham he should be playing first class cricket right now in Quaid e Azam trophy. Too good a player to be playing these tournaments.

I have gone through the thread and [MENTION=46895]sunnykhan[/MENTION] pointed out his brother and cousin were regular FC cricketers so why would he be discriminated against and not them.

If he's posting great numbers some FC will surely pick him up. I just think he's not that good a player.

those guys used to play but hadnt publicly identified as ahmedis back then. only in past 5.6 years faisal mubashir did

i dont know why but hate against ahmads is greater now than childhood.

He played first class cricket a few years ago, must have been around 19 years old, averaged over 50.
Played 1 List A game scored 44
 
Does not matter, player of his calibre and potential should be spotted by the system.
 
Sure, but I don't think he is "above" these tournaments yet. If it's so easy he should perform.

I watched the above innings live. The highlights show the good shots, but they don't show how there were a lot of dot balls and play and misses. He looked out of sorts if I am honest.

Not doubting his talent but he had a poor tournament.
