Match 16 of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 sees high-flying England Women take on a winless Pakistan side at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday, October 15.

Nat Sciver-Brunt’s squad has stamped its authority on the tournament with dominant victories over South Africa and Sri Lanka, followed by a nervy but composed chase against Bangladesh, where Heather Knight’s calm under pressure proved decisive. With three wins from three, England sit comfortably among the frontrunners.

Pakistan, meanwhile, is still searching for its first points. Fatima Sana’s team has endured a tough campaign so far, falling to Bangladesh by seven wickets before suffering heavy defeats to India and Australia. With morale low and momentum elusive, the Women in Green face a stern test against a well-oiled English unit.

Another 1-sided thrashing coming Pakistan women's way... They are playing to gift 2 points only.

Pakistan win the toss and elect to bowl first

What is wrong with this think tank?

The ball seams incredibly much in the first hour under lights. The spin later comes into play. There's literally no impact of dew. Why can't they just bat first?

England 5 down for 54
Pakistan Women started in a similar fashion against Australia as well but lost the plot totally...

If they wanna win, get them out under 100 now.

Not watching atm.

Can anyone please advise if the wicket is so bad?

What are the chances of Pakistan chasing down a score of less than 100?

Shamim has done it... 7th down... anything under 100 is ok I think.. MAYBE THESE WOMEN CAN CHASE IT...MAYBE

They had a great chance to win the game but came after the rain break with an absolutely weird strategy.

Unable to understand how the think tank of this team works.

Luck not on Pakistan's side today. It will be such a shame if the match ends as a no-result.

Be prepared to have wash-outs in our league games in T20WC next year.

Absolute rubbish place to play cricket, when important games getting washed out means missing out on points.

Lol like your team did in last 2 matches, anyways this was a repeat of 1992 with sides switched
Would be hilarious if England and Pakistan make the final and then England go onto win. But looking at the state of the woman's team apart from this match, even just making the knockouts seems like a far cry.

It was heartbreak for Pakistan as their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 clash against England was washed out due to persistent rain at the R. Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday. Pakistan appeared on course for a famous win after reducing England to 79/7 and later 133/9 once play resumed, but the weather had the final say.

The abandoned match meant England climbed to the top of the World Cup standings with seven points from four games, level with Australia. Pakistan, meanwhile, remain at the bottom of the table but finally registered their first point of the tournament.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first in a match shortened to 31 overs per side after rain interruptions. England managed 133/9, setting Pakistan a DLS-adjusted target of 113. The chase started confidently, with Pakistan reaching 34/0 in just under seven overs before rain returned and play was eventually called off.

In the first innings, Pakistan’s bowlers, led by Fatima Sana (4/27), dominated the proceedings, leaving England reeling at 79/7 after 25 overs. Sadia Iqbal chipped in with two crucial wickets, while Diana Baig and Rameen Shamim maintained relentless pressure.

Following the rain delay, England managed a brief recovery through a gritty 47-run partnership for the ninth wicket between Charlie Dean and Emily Arlott, helping them post a respectable total of 133 before both fell near the end.

Diana Baig set the tone early, dismissing Tammy Beaumont in the second over. Fatima Sana then took charge, cleaning up Amy Jones with a beauty that snuck through the gap, before striking twice in one over to remove captain Natalie Sciver-Brunt (bowled off an inside edge) and Heather Knight (LBW to a sharp inswinger).

Sadia Iqbal deepened England’s woes, bowling Emma Lamb with a delivery that just clipped the off stump and later trapping Sophie Dunkley LBW after a successful review. Rameen Shamim added to the collapse by removing Alice Capsey, who was struck on the pad attempting a sweep.

Despite the disappointment, Pakistan can take heart from their performance and will look to build on it when they face New Zealand on October 18. England, now joint leaders, will continue their campaign against India on October 19 in what promises to be a high-voltage encounter.

Feel sorry for them. Almost all SL legs were impacted somewhat. England escaped.
