The five-match T20I series between arch-rivals Australia and India reaches its pulsating climax with the 5th T20I at the iconic The 'Gabba, Brisbane. With India holding a crucial 2-1 lead heading into the final match, the hosts have a big task ahead, while the Men in Blue look to secure a famous series victory on Australian soil. India's clinical performance in the 4th T20I, where the spinners Axar Patel and Washington Sundar spun a web around the Australian middle order, has given them the crucial momentum. For Australia, the final match is now about pride and squaring the ledger to avoid a home series loss. Historically, the' Gabba surface is quick and offers genuine bounce, encouraging stroke play and rewarding fast bowlers who hit the deck hard. However, it will also test the batters' technique against the short ball. The venue often favors the team batting first, as the pitch can occasionally slow down later. The atmosphere is always electric for Australia-India clashes, adding an extra layer of intensity.

Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, India's young brigade has shown remarkable courage and adaptability. The series has been a critical testing ground for India ahead of the next T20 World Cup, and the players have stepped up. Axar Patel has been the standout performer, contributing with both economical bowling and crucial late-order hitting. Washington Sundar's all-round contribution has also been impactful. For the hosts, led by Mitchell Marsh, the 'Gabba represents a final chance for redemption and a momentum boost. The home side has struggled to find consistency, particularly with the bat. Australia will desperately need their star batters, particularly Marsh and the in-form Tim David, to fire and dominate the Powerplay and middle overs to challenge India's bowling depth. The contest between India's quality spin attack and Australia's powerful, but sometimes vulnerable, middle order will likely dictate the outcome. Additionally, Mitchell Marsh vs Jasprit Bumrah in the Powerplay will be a captivating duel. India are riding a wave of confidence and superior form, particularly after their clinical dismantling of Australia in the 4th T20I. Their varied bowling attack, combining pace and world-class spin, seems better equipped to handle the pressure. Australia, playing at their familiar hunting ground, will be fighting with all their might to draw the series. Will India clinch another historic T20I series win in the Land Down Under? Or will the Aussies roar back and finish on a high against the T20 World Champions? Only time will tell.

Gill is a misfit in ICT, same for Surya. Rinku and Jaiswal must be introduced as replacements.
Rinku is a problematic selection. He can't play the new ball or attack spin with any authority.

He can only play as a specialist #7 finisher with no secondary skills.

There's no place for him in the side.

Completely overcast and dark conditions at gabba. Its touch and go.At Max ,it may be a shortened match.

Full circle for Washington sundar who made debut at this very venue played a pivotal role in that epic test both with ball and bat . He named his dog after Gabba.
Unforgettable - that day, that match and that series!

i consider myself lucky to view that seires, 2001 vs Aus and the 2025 Eng series...three absolute diamond crazy exhibitions of why test cricket is the the ultimate pinnacle!

Yet another toss lost by India...This is crazy

Australia have won the toss and have opted to field

AUSTRALIA WON THE TOSS & DECIDED TO BOWL FIRST .

Tilak Verma dropped and Rinku Singh replaced him.

Yea. NOthing like winning an overseas Test against all odds. Greatest overseas win for India in history.

I think it's high time we stop doing the toss thing & directly give opportunity to the opposition to choose to bat or bowl first.

We have lost 19 out of 20 toss.

:klopp :kp

India would have won the 3rd test match in 2021 series at Sydney too if Pant wouldn't have got out on 97.

After Pant got out, they dropped anchor & played out for a draw.

2001 series is more of an emotion. Only India could have stopped that Australian team & they did.

Four Boundary by Prince in single over. Gill haters soon will be disappeared. : beautiful batting so far :klopp :kp

Gill may be one of our worst T20 batsmen but even then he looks so much better than the likes of Babar and Rizwan when he gets going.

What a talent
T20 never was Babar's game & Rana'a Rizzu is not exactly a fiery striker ...
52/0 in 4.5 , rain - how flat is the deck boys ?

These shots are not T20 shots. YOu gotta be prepared to go aerial. HE got out 4 times recently with this same shot as it travels at catchable height not over the fielder. Jaiswal usually hits it well over them.

I said he's better than Babar and Rizwan, not Klassen and Buttler
Yea.. obviously. We are only talking mainly within Indian set up. Jaiswal would walk into most sides as a T20 batsman. HE has been trying this for a while. Mostly he got out. Today he got away.

cricbuzz :
Fewest innings to 1000 T20I runs (India)
27 Virat Kohli
28 Abhishek Sharma
29 KL Rahul
31 Suryakumar Yadav
40 Rohit Sharma

19/20 tosses in mens cricket, also consecutive toss loss for India in England in tests stretches from 2018 series (we lost all 5) to the two WTC finals and subsequent series - even that consec tosses-loss-eng-test streak must be a record in itself - dont think any other team has lost so many consec test toss losses in Eng ...throw in the womens record of also loosing more tosses than winning....i think the Sholay waala sikka is being used for India games.... :Dah

ONe of the comment on cricinfo. THis guy is box office in Australia after Rishabh Pant.Kohli. May be more than them.

Jon Stevens-Hal: "Can Bumrah just bowl a couple of overs while we wait here at the Gabba? We might not get many more chances to see him in Australia and this feels a bit unfair "

They stopped it for lightning. Is there a time limit?
No. lighting should not be anywhere in 8kms vicinity. Lower stands are also cleared. I dont think match will happen.50 mnts ago, some one in cricinfo mentioned about a storm waiting too.

It started raining too now.

But at what cost? 45 in 39 balls, kudos to our bowlers who bowled out Aussies
It was tricky pitch. How many runs other batters scored?

India were 120/2 in 14 over untill gill was a the crease and all set to scored over 180+

After gill wicket india completely lost the plot and scored just 46 in 6 overs with loss of 5 wickets.

Anyway I'm in favour of jaiswal inclusion in the team instead gill but Gill basher also need to check reality check.

:kp

Onto to the SAFFER test series....gee whiz....they come thick and in quick succession -blink and you missit....Saf tests and ODI to follow....

Hope our guys especially the bowlers like Jassi, Washi, Akshar get sufficient rest between now and first day of the 1st test vs Saf and turn out - batteries fully charged
