Ravichandran Ashwin and his team, Dindigul Dragons, have been accused by the Madurai Panthers of ball tampering during their Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) match on June 14, 2025. The Panthers allege that Ashwin’s team used towels treated with chemicals to alter the ball’s condition, making it heavier and causing a metallic sound when it hit the bat, despite repeated warnings during the match.

The TNPL CEO has acknowledged the complaint but demanded concrete evidence from Madurai to support the allegations. He stated that an independent committee would be formed if there was substance to the claims, but warned that Madurai could face sanctions if they fail to provide proof. The use of towels is permitted in the TNPL to dry the ball due to monsoon conditions, but only with league-provided towels under umpire supervision.

In the match, Dindigul Dragons easily chased down Madurai’s total, with Ashwin contributing 49 runs as an opener. Earlier in the season, Ashwin was fined for dissent against an umpiring decision

My guess is due to bcci influence, these charges will be dropped. Weird that @Devadwal isnt commenting but when mattew faced charges he called him a cheater only for him to be cleared a few days later with no evidence.

It is these types of threads where I call out hypocrisy.

Seems like fake news Indians would never cheat especially an honest pro like Ashwin who worked so fearlessly and courageously to uncover chuckers.

Shamelessness is one of the traits of the sanghis.

They are quick to accuse others but go silent when one of their own commits a similar offense. :inti

Changing your views because of some other poster means youve already lost the battle.

Average ka formula batao?

Average ka formula batao?

Usually i ignore such things, but you've been spouting this average aaverage nonsense for 2 months now. I genuinely do not have a clue what you're talking about and what you're referring to and what goes on in that silly brain of yours.

The honest truth is that I live in your heads rent free. So does sweepshot and pretty much every Pakistani.

Not going into much details but ashwin is one of the few cricketers from India who reads and studies cricket well.

Ashwin and his team cleared off.seems loosing team is sour grapes case just like few pper's arguments.

After a detailed review of the matter, TNPL CEO Prasanna Kannan said no evidence of ball-tampering had been found. "The towels in question were TNCA-issued and equally available to both teams," Kannan said in a statement. "The Playing Control Team - including umpires and the match referee - maintained full oversight of the ball throughout the match. No concerns were raised during play, and no verifiable evidence has been provided. The claims appear speculative and post-facto in nature.

R Ashwin and Dindigul Dragons cleared of ball-tampering allegations in TNPL

Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and his Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) franchise, Dindigul Dragons, have been formally cleared of ball-tampering allegations following a probe by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). The charges, brought forward by the Siechem Madurai Panthers, were deemed "speculative" and lacking verifiable evidence.

The controversy arose after the Panthers accused the Dragons of using towels "treated with chemicals" to tamper with the ball during their match on 14 June at the Salem Cricket Foundation Ground. The match, which saw Dindigul secure a convincing nine-wicket win, came under scrutiny after Panthers CEO Mahesh S alleged "blatant ball tampering" and demanded an investigation into the source and use of the towels.

However, in an official statement, TNPL CEO Prasanna Kannan confirmed that an internal review had found no wrongdoing. "The towels in question were TNCA-issued and equally available to both teams," Kannan said. "The Playing Control Team - including on-field umpires and the match referee - maintained full oversight of the ball throughout the match. No concerns were raised during play, and no verifiable evidence has been provided. The claims appear speculative and post-facto in nature."

According to the TNCA, the towels were issued to teams to dry the ball in the event of wet outfield conditions and were used under umpire supervision. A committee was formed to assess the allegations, but in the absence of credible proof - including video or photographic material - the TNPL has ruled out any further action at this stage.

The governing body did, however, allow for the possibility of an independent inquiry if the Panthers could submit credible evidence by 3 PM on 17 June. As of the latest update, no such request has been made.

Ashwin, who captains the Dragons and is a former India international, bowled four wicketless overs for 27 runs during the match but made a notable contribution with the bat, scoring 49 off 29 balls to help chase down the Panthers' total of 150 with ease. Dindigul completed the chase in just 12.3 overs, with openers Ashwin and Shivam Singh leading the charge.

The defending champions now stand with two wins in the 2025 season as they look to retain their TNPL title.

It was an allegations and he is cleared now . This is why I didn't respond because I know it's a Fake news. I don't want to started a fight based on fake allegations and currently my focus is on Iran - Isreal conflict. Enjoy
:kp

Well we all know Tendu was a cheat and also did ball tempering, and alot of these guys look up to him. So offcourse they will follow the lead.
Sachin was cleared of ball tampering charges. Looks like it's just in your nature to lie every time. Do you ever post a single truth?

Well, he got cleared now... All good?
Read my comment above I already said he'd be cleared lol.

I just find it funny that our indian residents attacked mattew but ignored poster boy Ashwin.

Ashwin and Jadeja are the 2 biggest frauds to represent india. Their good spinners but elevated to ATG status due to marketing + spin friendly pitches in India. Satner exposed that myth during the series.

Sachin is a quality player and top 5 greatest of all time, up their in status with Bradman, Sobers, Ponting and Viv.

But that doesnt mean he was perfect. He did cheat, however pressure from Indian population forced icc to reverse the decision as despite tampering, it wasnt as serious as spot fixing so icc didnt take charge.

Icc never acts against Aus, Eng or India until and unless they have to absolutely put their foot down like they did with wtc scheduling forcing india to accept England as the venue

And like they did with smith and Warner, but even then they were lenient. Had it been any other country they would have likely been banned for 5 years or for life.

Sachin cheated but Icc cleared it cause honestly they couldn't give a damn about a one off incident and they dont want any nonsense pressure from an entire country.

Now with Jay shah promoting bcci nonstop and even trying to force his board to shift wtc venues to India, its dead set clear India has a political advantage until shah is removed.

You guys need to learn to stay neutral for once. @Major Is just reporting what happened.

There was a clear grass on the ball and he used nails to remove it. They played this video in the match again and again It was against the law and he was rightly reprimanded for it.

But this is way different from the kind of cheating Smith and others did which was planned in advance and done in many matches. If there was no grass stuck Sachin wouldn't have done what he did.

Again there was video evidence and they played this clip multiple times.

The absolute irony of you calling to be neutral while comparing Smith and Sachin's action is both funny and sad.

He should have gone to the umpire. The grass was an excuse to tampering with it lol.

First of, no one in life will be completely neutral, that is because we are all humans who have different viewpoints and opinions which have been shaped by our surroundings and who we have met or observed in life.

If you think I am biased, then thats your perspective lol. I'm not seeking your approval 🤣.

Absolutely . Only Pakistani bowlers tamper to a ridiculous extent and some of them are not even good at hiding it.

Both Rusty Theron and Klassen binged that PAK were tampering over the last year. :rabada2

Amir, Butt and Asif are 3 people who downright ruined Pakistan cricket perception wise.

I have somewhat forgiven Amir due to his 2017 spell as well the age factor but Butt and Asif destroyed their country and honestly its affected public perception since 2010.

Brother why do you bold the line and then repond? Why cant you just quote the post? It makes easier reading.

GUYS, THREAD IS ABOUT ASHWIN AND TEMPERING. STAY ON TOPIC INSTEAD OF GETTING PERSONAL.

Usual suspects are trying to derail this thread as well. :inti

Did anyone see that video of the opposition team stealing 3 runs from overthrows against Ashwin's team? It was hilarious. Ashwin's reaction to the whole thing was perfect
