So very randomly, this thought crossed my mind as I was about to fall asleep. I was pretty sure of it from my memory itself but still thought I´d confirm it from the stats.

So as it stands, Pakistan are the only top team which the West Indies have managed to beat from recent four World Cup editions (2007, 11, 15 and now 19). Please take at the screenshot below......

This was the first World Cup where Bangladesh went in with a classification other than a "minnow" - slightly higher than that at least - and the West Indies managed to get beaten by them easily!

However, more than the West Indies, it goes to tell you where exactly Pakistan have goofed up their World Cup 2019 campaign. In 2015 it didn´t turn out to be as costly given the format of the tournament, but bear in mind the loss in the 2007 edition. We all remember that Ireland knocked Pakistan out of the tournament back then, but it would never have come to that either had they beaten the West Indies in which was the opening match of the tournament I think.

In between this, Pakistan did very comprehensively beat them in a quarter-final in 2011 of course, but a better record is expected against a team which hasn´t been able to beat a top team in a World Cup match since 2007 - with the exclusion of Pakistan of course!

West Indies know how to beat us in ICC tournaments. Don't know why we can't beat them in tournaments.

I remember the 2015 match. Russell blasted Pakistan bowling at the back end of the innings. Chasing 300+, Pakistan was reeling at 1 for 4 wickets at one stage. Crazy match that was..

That was the worst match ever, no on thought it was 1 rund fr 4, but 4 runs fr one, checking score.

West Indies have often been a bogey team for us in World Cups.

They beat us in a crunch game in 1975, and beat us in the 1979 and 1983 semi finals.

There’s not excuse to lose to the current windies but they are at their best in the first game of the tournament, hence the first round losses in 2015 and 2019

And on the other hand Pakistan often seem slow starters in a tournament.

Yeah, true. ICC Champions Trophy Semi-Final 2004 comes to my mind, then another match from the same tournament in the 2013 edition. Then there was a virtual quarter-final in World T20 2014. Most of the other teams would´ve brushed the West Indies aside.

One of the worst matches of my life. I woke up at 1 or 2 AM (CET) I think to watch it, which isn´t the easiest thing for me due to some medical reasons. Whilst the end of the West Indies innings was fun to watch, Pakistan´s reply was a punishment to watch!

Quite acceptable to have lost to them till the mid-1990s I´d think, as they were quite a force till then. Losing against a near-minnow West Indies in ODIs the recent years is hard to take I suppose.

In that World T20 game we had them at 80 odd for 6. Should have never lost that game.

Quite ok to lose but that kind of capitulation is hard to digest. Even this year's world cup match of Pakistan vs West Indies was similar. I'm sure Pakistan will demolish West Indies the next 10 times they meet. India had even worse meltdowns.. the ones against Lanka in 1996 semi final and Bangladesh in 2007 group game immediately come to mind.
