Report: Audit Reveals Rs. 2960 Billion Irregularities in Ministry of Power

The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) has revealed misappropriation, embezzlement, and irregularities worth Rs 2,962 billion in 318 cases of power division and its departments.

In the audit report for the fiscal year 2019-20, recovery of Rs. 2,604 billion in 50 cases has been recommended by the AGP. Loss of Rs. 4,033.45 million due to fraud, embezzlement, misappropriation, and theft in 21 cases were also reported.

The report also highlighted irregularities worth Rs. 273 million in 21 human resource/employee-related cases. Besides this, irregularities of Rs. 107,328 million in 64 cases related to civil/electrification works, procurement of electrical equipment, consultancy services, and contractual mismanagement were reported.

An amount of Rs. 63 billion was discovered in 108 cases related to violation of internal rules and regulations of audited entities. Similarly, violations of regulatory laws and regulations were also highlighted in 50 cases involving an amount of Rs. 184 billion.

Irregularities related to the management of accounts with commercial banks were also highlighted in four cases involving an amount of Rs. 1.1 billion.

If someone reduces loss from 3X to 1X, You can't blame him/her for 1X loss if system had been operating with 3X losses for many years preceding. Thats why context is important.

It’s easy to throw big figures but without any context just shows a certain prejudice. It implies that the current government is as corrupt as the previous governments which we all know is untrue...

Not sure why Indians think they are knowledgeable enough to comment on Pakistani internal matters? The auditor general's office releases report for the previous fiscal year. So audit report 2019-2020 is for the fiscal year 2018-2019. Please stop embarassing yourself. Not sure what you mean by context or what comparison to previous year has to do? Are you saying that if previously it was more then the corruption happening under PTI is good? I don't understand your point of view at all

Corruption is corruption regardless of whether it is for $1 or $1billion. In this case though it is almost $17.82 Billion. How the hell can anyone justify corruption at this level regardless of what happened in previous years. Specially considering this man got elected with the promise to end corruption.

Wasn't he saying he will end it in 90 days? Whatever happened to that promise?

Please stop looking for reasons to justify corruption. By the way, you know who the minister for power is? Go have a look and give me one good reason why someone like that would be appointed.

It was the same with the party funding case, you asked for a reference and I gave it to you and you ran away. The PTI is not operating in a vacuum and will have corrupt people but IK is clean and the trajectory is upwards.
