South African sensation Quinton de Kock is likely to join Peshawar Zalmi in Pakistan Super League (PSL) edition 3.

According to reports, the wicketkeeper cum batsman, who is also the captain of Global T20 League franchise Benoni owned by Zalmi, is likely to be part of PSL 3.

The reports further suggest that the young South African is heavily linked to join the reigning PSL champions Peshawar Zalmi for next season.

On the other hand, Australian all-rounder Mitchell Johnson, batting great Mike Hussey, World Cup winning skipper Michael Clarke and other are also expected to feature in the T20 tournament.

It is pertinent to mention here that, Two PSL owners, Fawad Rana of the Lahore Qalandars, and Javed Afridi from the Peshawar Zalmi, bought franchises in Durban and Benoni respectively.

I don't really trust the source,but

De Kock would be a great signing
Johnson would be a passable signing
Hussey and Clarke=NO.They are long retired

Unreliable source.

SA are playing India and Australia in February/March next year so I very much doubt QDK will be playing the PSL.

Johnson is a possibility.

Hussey is more likely to feature as a coach at his age.

Clarke was also mentioned as a possible coach for Multan.

Is this source somewhat reliable? I don't think so.

SA will be playing a series at the time of PSL and De Kock plays for SA in all the formats.

I don't think Jhonson will be bought by any franchise because he hasn't been playing any professional cricket for quite some time now.Only reason he can be drafted in any side is cashing on his status and helping his side in better marketing.

For Clarke,same as I said wrt Jhonson.Also,the fact that he wasn't a brilliant T20 bat either.Maybe as a mentor/coache type role in a team?

Same applies to Hussey. He is way too old now and I don't think any team will take him.Has been out of the game for eternity.

Johnson played Big Bash last year for the winning team.

Clarke and Hussey however is fake news.

Clarke is awful in t20s n has been finished for a long time. no point getting him

IIRC he also played in the IPL this year.

Your memory serves you correctly. I'm still not sure why he didn't play in the PSL last year tbh. I remember there were rumours circulating but they never materialised into anything.

he was the member of winning teams in ipl and bbl...
last time he pulled out due to some problem otherwise he had signed for draft..

That article basically says because QdK is a valuable asset in t20 cricket and because he plays for a franchise owned by the owners of PZ he will therefore play for PZ. Based on what, exactly? Pure supposition.

Assuming the FTP is correct, SA are playing India and Australia in February/March 2018 ie. when PSL 3 will be held. Do you seriously think QdK (assuming he even wants to) would be given permission to skip those tours to play in the PSL?

india series is scheduled in November... it will start late November as per FTP... dont knw abt Australia... it will be Ashes time i think..

Yes he did play for Perth Scorchers and did pretty well and then he played for MI in IPL as well.

But Big Bash was played last year and in IPL he just played 1 or 2 games IIRC.Other than that he hasn't played any cricket.

CSA statement states that they are scheduled to play SL in DEC-JAN this year(2017-2018)... but they are looking to abandon the series and play with india instead during the same time frame... as the India tour will bring more profits...

Brother, the ashes are being played between 23 November 2017 – 8 January 2018 so that has nothing to do with it.

The FTP schedules the Indian series for January-February 2018, but you are right to say it is likely to now take place during 2017/2018. The reason for this is SA are likely to cancel the Sri Lanka series, as per http://www.espncricinfo.com/southafrica/content/story/1075754.html

The schedule for the Australia tour of SA begins in late February, as per http://www.cricket.com.au/news/feat...-town-kingsmead-newlands-wanderers/2017-01-04.

Bearing in mind there is a sixth team now, this would suggest that at most he might be available for the first half of the tournament. There are a lot of variables though.

Would be great to see him in the PSL.

This only came up after I posted my comment. See my response above.

The ashes tour includes an ODI series and t20 tri-series which won't be over til late February.

as HitWicket said there will be an ODI Series and T20 series after Ashes series.....
so i think it iz unlikely SA will play against Aus this summer...
Also if Aussies boycott Ashes then..... we might see all Aussies playing in PSL 2018.

we are all on same page that we want to see QDK and other great players in PSL 2018 even if it is only for few matches or whole tournament.... it would be great.....
lets hope fr the best.

Yes I know. But Australia tour of SA is in March (with a tour match in late Feb).

ODI and t20 series will be between 14 Jan 2018- 21 Feb 2018.

Australia tour of SA will go ahead- they will just field a slightly weaker t20 team (they did something similar with the SL series whilst they prepared for the India tour):

Feb 22-24: Tour match v SA Invitational XI, Sahara Park, Benoni

Mar 1-5: 1st Test, Kingsmead, Durban

In any case, would be great to see QdK playing in the PSL.

Is this a joke? If Hussey & Clarke can ignite PSL, then why not Viv & Wasim?

Isn't their a draft system?

Also I dont think Clarke or Hussey will participate, they are retired. Doesn't play domestic cricket either. But QDK is a gun player.

If SA plays series in November how will their players take part in the global T20? Half the prospective players in the global T20 have already been signed up by the BPL and if SA players dont take part then who will?

Its my dream to watch Misbah and Hussey bat together

The big difference made in PSL in terms of groomimg talent and giving confidence was by KP, Watto, Sammy and Haddin.

Look at how KP handled Nawaz in season 1 and Hasan Khan in season 2 when he was on mid off.

Look at how Watson praised Raees in season 1 and really wanted him to be selected for Pakistan at that time because he really believed in him.

Look at how Haddin and Watson both handled Shadab and gave him confidence even in few matches when Misbah wasnt their.

Look how Mcculam gave confidence to Fakhar Zaman about his approach and how he should go about it.

Look at how Sammy handled Hassan Ali in season 2.

This is just to give few examples. I cant imagine some younger players like QDE, E Lewis, Rabada etc to help youngsters given they will be of the same age and not a lot of experimec under their belt. Although would love to see someone like Warner, AB, Root, Williamson, Amla etc who have both experience as well as the the touch by playing currently. But it depends upon the availability.

Its good to have recently retired players players and thats because they are experienced and understand the players and their talent by just a look so even if Hussey and Clarke play I am sure they are going to groom us some talent.

Experienced players which are retired are good for youngsters while some youmg overseas talent is good to watch so need a balance of both.

MJ and QDK would be great additions as players, while playing with Clarke and Hussey would be a valuable experience for our talented youngsters.

Sorry but we have enough players offering "experience" already in the PSL.

Only QDK excites me from this list.

Johnson is still an exciting pacer.

The addition of Johnson would be great for the PSL. Would love to see his bowls flying off the pitch at 150ish kph!

Does Hussey still play? From what I remember in the last CPL, his performances were really that great. Think he and Clarke should be added to the coaching staff by teams.

Johnson is still an exciting pacer.

He has retired from international cricket so his value drops drastically because of it.

Plus in the UAE pitches - his pace will be nullified just like it was in the 2014 series against Pakistan.

He won't contribute anything and will eat up a healthy salary that could have been spent on a younger player.

That's great to hear. But honestly, if I was the team owners, I would invest on WI/BD/SL/AFG players. They are most likely and will be willing to play PSL matches in Pakistan. Remember last PSL? Pretty much all the foreign players jumped the ship apart from Sammy and co. It sucks for a team to reach the finals and miss its gun players.

That is why the final is scheduled in UAE next season. 8 of the league matches will take place in Pakistan according to reports.

Malan and Chris Jordan also went to Lahore for last year's final.

I think they're both well past their best as players.
