DHAKA – Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced home series against Pakistan in July.

Bangladesh will run through a busy schedule of international cricket after the ICC Champions Trophy. It was known earlier Pakistan will visit Bangladesh in July and afterwards, Australia will also tour in August, Bengali media reported on Tuesday.

Although the schedule of Australia series is yet to be known, according to the news in the Pakistan media, Bangladesh Cricket Board has completed the discussion with Pakistan Cricket Board and the proposed bilateral series is going to start on 9th of July.

The two boards have taken Fatullah and Sylhet as probable venues in absence of ‘Home of Cricket’ Mirpur Sher – E – Bangla National Stadium that is now undergoing renovation work.

The three one day international match of the series will take place on 14th, 16th and 19th of July.

Would've liked some ODI cricket before June. But I guess this'll be post-CT where we'll be making changes and can see how a new team will fare against a solid BD team.

Hopefully the rain will stay away.

Will be the first assignment post-YK/Misbah so an important series.

Last time post WC'15, after making changes.. we know what has happened

How is weather in Bangladesh during July?

And also, only three ODI's? Important games for the WC qualification...

No play at Sylhet in July - that stadium is less than 200 KM away from the spot, which gets highest amount of rain fall in the month of July - compared to any other location on earth, in any month :(

Only place, they might get some dry days are Khulna or Rajshahi, but it's almost 44C in Rajshahi in July.....

Excellent opportunity for Inzi to try upcoming youngsters like Salman Butt, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Gul and Zulfiqar Babar.

Ah, no matches at Sher e Bangla. That's the main stadium I would have loved to see us play there

BD'll play the available 1st XI - in that squad, apart from Mash, only players over 30 are Sakib, Mushi & Mahmudullah, & that's just 30-31. There is no point replacing players like Tamim, Sabbir, Mossaddek, Miraj, Taskin, Mustafiz, Soumya, Shariful. May be, they'll pick couple of new faces - gradually phasing out Rubel, Kayes; but the the core for 2019 WC is finalized - unless there is some exceptional talent, don't think there'll be much change between 2017 CT & 2019 WC.

If Inzi remains in charge, he'll call back Kamran & Gul - the excuse will be that BD is higher in ranking & for the importance of WC qualifier, experience is essential. Besides, there is not much talent - even if the series was against Emirates.

Ideal series for pakistan to rebuild odi team after we perform shambolically in champions trophy

Same was said, few years back(2015)

Ideal series for pakistan to rebuild odi team after we perform shambolically in world cup

And still Pakistan is rebuilding

Why phase out Rubel? Back in 2015 Bangladesh fans used to say he's one of the quickest bowlers in Asia.

Heck,Fatullah is the flattest pitch in bangladesh ,may be even in subcon and sylhet also flat with some early swing. We will not get home advantage playing there. The match should be held in ctg only if mirpur not available.

Day time cricket in July ? what are the players are being punished for, make it a day night test or don't do it.

Bd can try with two SAIFs of emerging team along with saifuddin and also Azmir.

May be Liton & Ebadat as well, but the core of the team remains fixed. There'll always be 2/3 new faces in a 16 men squad, particularly at home, but it won't be like 4/5 changes at a time.

Yah core would be same...ebadat also can be good asset for us in near future.

So has the PCB capitulated despite the shenanigans of the BCB in going back on their commitments of a year or so ago?
Hope the PCB hasn't agreed to this based on some vague promises of a return series by Bangladesh sometime later. If so, haven't the PCB learned lessons from their previous experiences with BCCI's and BCB's promises that their pomises are meaningless?

After Tamim, mushy, shakib,Riyadh our core could be like sabbir,mosaddek,somya,miraz...what do you think?

Next, bcci and bcb won't sign any MOU with Pakistan for more than 1 series having the experience of blackmailing of PCB based on mou signings which actually having no legality.

Saif & Afif'll make the squad on 2019 WC, probably Nazmul as well. Batting, finger spinner isn't the problem - badly need a leggi & couple of good new ball pacer. Finding 145KM+ pacer is difficult, but we can easily groom few tall, skilled pacer operating around 134KM, with effort ball reaching 140K.

What about the chinaman found in the spinner hunt program?? Heard a lot good things about him. Could he be one of the great findings in future? I am getting very optimistic about him but would be great if he makes out full of his potential.

at that time night could be more rainy than day. It's less chance of raining during daytime

Hot and humid in day time and rain at night, not a perfect cricket weather. They don;t play cricket in England in January for a reason.

Chinaman is the toughest ball to master, besides he is more dependent on wrong one (googly) - I wish him all the best, but probably won't take him in ODI, which these days are played on belters & 60 metre grounds.

They also found 4/5 good leggies there. Do you know anything about them?? I have very little info about them.

Your any knowns could be related with that hunt program or with bcb. :D:D

Not much - I actually, don't trust these "hunting programs". At 19, Shane Warne was a reserve in NSW grade cricket ...... I follow, players between genuine age of 18 to 23 & their progression in FC cricket.

Me too. That's why i am enquiring about them to know how good they actually are. That is why i asked you if you could know anything about them. Now a day i am gaining little faith over our domestic as its becoming more competitive day by day.

no tests ?

thats a shame

I think not having test matches is good for the series. It's being played in July. Test matches would have been ruined by rains, and Pakistan would lose test match ranking points.

It's already hard for Pakistan to climb up in test match rankings, considering how little they play test matches with higher ranked teams and especially since they don't play ranking points heavy India at all. Losing points by scheduling test matches during rainy/monsoon season with lower ranked teams would make things even worse.

Pakistan should not tour Bangladesh. Bangladesh should tour Pakistan other wise Pakistan should not play with Bangladesh

However, I have to say that both BCB & PCB are dumb here - why only 3 matches? Logistical costs (over heads) are compensated by number of matches, hence BCCI often arranges even 7 match series against AUS - here these idiots are going to move whole lot for 3 matches, couple of those could be rain washed!!!!!!!!!!!

At least 6 ODI, with a reserve day, for carry forward match (DWL comes only in Day 2 last half, otherwise game continues for a 50 over contest, if it's rain hit), should have been arranged - PCB has a valid reason to complain for their home series (revenue loss), hence, those 3 extra ODI can be arranged under some sort of revenue sharing model.

I would say make it first ever 9 match series in 23 days & allow both teams to bring 20 players each - Inzi'll arrange pension trips for Gul, Tanuu, Wahab, Anwar, Asad, Azhar, Asif Zakir, Khurramm, Kamran ....... BCB'll be able to give exposure to few of the top U19 players before 2018 U19 WC - bring it on.

Only 3 ODIs?

Really should have a couple Tests in there.

Also, does Pakistan get half of the revenue?

PCB shouldn't sign any MOU's with the BCCI or BCB considering that both the latter failed to honour their previous MOU's. If it is the case that the PCB has agreed to tour Bangladesh on the basis of some vague and meaningless promises of a return tour by Bangladesh then something stinks. It can only be because those at the top of the PCB stand to benefit personally in some way or other.

I don't think it will happen. Just masala news for sure.

Should have been a 5 match ODI series, that way we could have pushed BD out of top 8 by winning 5-0, now I don't think 3-0 will be enough for WI to takeover BD.

Kinda what I'm aftaid of. That's where Azhar performed well, along with Haris, and was given extended time as an ODI player where he scored big vs Zim. Feels like a 'get out of jail free' card if people perform well in July. Nonetheless, I really do hope to see new faces since I know our CT campaign is gonna end in demise.
