[REPORTS] PCB’s ACU interrogated nine players during PSL

LAHORE – New revelations are coming out with every passing day in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot-fixing scandal as it has been unearthed that nine players were interrogated in Dubai during the league.

The nine players which were inquired by Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) also included opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad and all-rounder Imad Wasim.

As per details available, Ahmed Shehzad was interrogated regarding his slow batting against New Zealand in 2016 ICC Twnety20 World Cup.

The batsman scored just 30 runs off 32 balls in a T20 game. Zulfiqar Babar and Umar Amin were given clean chit after investigation, but Ahmed Shehzad and Imad Wasim are still under the radar of ACU.

It is worth mentioning here that Umar Amin also played the part of an informer.-Online

Nothing tangible against them (i.e. messages or meetings with bookies).

For example, Shahzad was asked about his slow batting against NZ. That's not enough to suspend someone.

The others were easier to suspend because of the evidence they collected.

Thats the reason Shehzad has been playing slow in T20 and ODI, just to prove that 's his style, otherwise he is capable of scoring in access of 200SR

I'm fine with clamping down on corruption but the manner they do things is ridiculous. Even this, just because Shehzad played slow it means the match is fixed - PCB need to get a grip and not get trigger happy every time there's anything marginally out of the 'norm'.

Ahmed Shehzad plays slow because he is incapable of playing fast, by including him in your lineup you are already fixing the match and therefore the chief selectors should be investigated for fixing.

Dr Nauman mentioned on his show once during the PSL that Umar Amin was one of the informers during the corruption investigation but instead of facilitating him Sethi sahab specifically asked QG to not have him in any playing eleven. Same with Shahzaib Hasan.


I generally take whatever Doctor sahab says with a truckload of salt but the report in the OP also mentions that Amin was one of the informants.

Good. I seriously don't understand why our players play so slowly on pitches where occasional batsmen like Amir aren't having any trouble. Especially when the management backs them to go for their shots yet they keep blocking like no tomorrow. Surely, the ACU was going to look into this sooner or later.

Blocking deliveries has more to do with match fixing rather than spot fixing because it sucks the life out of the game and you end up losing the game. And anyway, people bet more on match fixing than they do on spot fixing so its an even bigger mafia.

If you want to interrogate players for playing slow then 1st interrogate your 'legends' Younis and Misbah for playing criminally slow in Pak's 2nd biggest match of history. Also the match overall was fishy. Why not interrogate that match?

I am not Shezi's fan but that is very silly reason to investigate him.
