AS PER REPORTS:

Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan is set to undergo right-shoulder surgery in the United Kingdom after enduring persistent discomfort, a procedure that is expected to keep him out of action for around three months. As a result, he will miss Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which begins on 20 July in Dhaka, and is likely to return only after the recovery period concludes.

The national squad for the Bangladesh tour—featuring matches on 20, 22, and 24 July at the Shere-e-Bangla National Stadium with 5:00 PM PST starts—is due to be announced later this week, with reports hinting at an inclusion for left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem.

True.... ate the place of Sufiyan who should have played against bangladesh earlier.
I think one main spinner is Abrar

Shadab should be replaced by spin all rounder:

Maaz
Saad Masood
Arafat Minhas (needs to get his act together)

Might even think about Hussain Talat

Nay.... Hussain talat is no good for T20s.. Faheem is better than him atm...

Shadab never deserved a spot in the t20 for his comeback. Arafat and maaz could be better options

The plan with Shadab was to make him a middle order batter with Agha (around 5) and build partnerships. Faheem’s utility with the bat is number 6-7 and against pace at the back end.

Talat can do that role required from Shadab better than Shadab can. People underrate Talat too much here with the bat. He’s a proper batter. We made this mistake with Iftikhar too in the past. Had you simply trusted him at number 4 or 5 and kept him there, you would have had a solid, reliable middle order batter by now. A Red ball FC average of 40+, and the ability to play innovative strokes against pace and spin is no joke. It needs to be utilised properly and backed.

Hopefully he'll be back better before WT20. Pakistan needs him fully fit and firing for that event.

Chacha should have only played test cricket. He never had a place in odi and t20.

As a test batsmen he is far > the likes of Babar, Rizwan, Shan, Abdullah Shafiq.

In FC he and Babar had an almost equal avg however chacha had a higher SR + he was shifted all across dueing his fc days from opening to no 7 while babar perpetually played at no 3 or 4.

The same goes for Niazi who I am willing to try out in test cricket.

This was Misbah's problem, He never separated formats. The likes of Asad shafiq and Ahmed shehzad had no place in odi or t20 but they were decent in test especially shehzad who was a pretty solid opener in test surprisingly (uae conditions).

Similarly Rizzu isnt bad as a test keeper. He unintentionally ignores the offside in test 🤣. But his legside nonsense works in said format. Yet rizzu is shoved at opening in t20?

During Misbah's era their was no need to bring chacha in odi or t20. We should have invested in Haider Ali at no 3 and no 4.

He was not as bad as people thought he was at that time. Infact ironically he is still pretty solid but now that hasan nawaz is here, we dont need him.

Talat and haider ali should have been given a go even back then. Sarfi really backed talat and he was the guy who chacha replaced. No need to fix what wasnt broken.

Ironically misbah has ruined so many cricketers with his rubbish attitude and decison making.

1) Ahmed Shehzad: solid shots and timing but pre mediates everything which is why he struggles with strike rotation but a solid player of spin. You can tell he is tailor made for test cricket yet By shoving him in odi and t20 you ruined his temperament?

Shehzad had he been given the opportunity would have had a far successful career then Imam ul Haq as a test cricketer

2) Umar Akmal: Another 40+ avg fc batsmen who was tailor made for test cricket. Unar needed to be made a t20 and odi no 3 and a test no 4. Shoving him at no 6 and ramiz Raja agenda created attitude problems and turned him into a joke of a cricketer with a joke attitude.

3) Chacha: Should have played odi and test only. What a weird move on having him start his career as a t20 cricketer? Regardless chacha sucked anyway. But he should have played odi and test from 2018-2022 and then played test only until 2024

Shadab was also just a bowler during sarfi era. This rubbish batting nonsense ruined him as well

I wonder how long Shadab has had shoulder issues for because he's constantly changed his arm action/angle over last few years and it's led to a change in effectiveness and inconsistency in his bowling.

Hopefully he makes a full recovery and gets back to the bowler he used to be.

I think Hesson has played a role in this. Shadab knows he can trust this coach that after the return from surgery. He'll be back in the team. Otherwise our players feel very insecure. So that's why they don't opt for complete rehabilitation

Blessing in disguise

He wasn’t fitting in the XI
He actually was. He's the only spin-bowling all-rounder of note that Pakistan have. Despite how horrible his bowling has been he is probably one of the best fielders in the world and a gun lower order batter in T20 who can play according to the modern demands of the game. And if he is playing as the fifth bowler, he doesn't even have to bowl his full-quota.

has to be the most injury-prone spinner out there. to top that, he also had the bad luck of getting infected by illnesses like hepatitis.

Imo, I'm conflicted. I dont really want shadab but reading the comments > has made me change my mind.

Eh, as long as babar and rizwan are kept out of t20 ig im cool with it

Bro hassan nawaz saim ayub harris are the future for pakistan i would say all formats.

These 3 need to focus on FC. Not all test cricketers are good in odi and t20 but all players who wish to play t20 and odi become better cricketers if they play test cricket.

Everyone from Travis Head, Warner, KP despite being average in test cricket all improved leaps and bounds in t20 and odi since test improves your technique, non2 ways about it.

Hasan Nawaz Deapite avg 29 and having played only 11 FC games has already scored a century at a very good strike rate. Pcb needs to encourage him to play more amd eventually incorporate him into test team after hes played 30-40 FC games.

Same goes for saim ayub.

Haris should only play t20 cricket though. He isnt cut out for test and odi tbh.

But Pakistan is bone dead dry in terms of wicket keeping talent.

Yep and it's quite unfortunately that's how the system is in Pakistan. It's why we see players flame out so quick after a good start. They play through their injuries, perhaps make the injuries worse, lose effectiveness and confidence and then left to toil or figure out medical issues once it's too late.

The good thing is at least Shadab is doing it now when there is little cricket and when he is healthy, there will still be plenty of time for him to come back and be fit & in form before the WC. Hope it happens because a healthy Shadab is a true difference maker with his bowling, batting and elite fielding.

Shadab used to be world class more than 2 years ago. This current version does not merit a spot in the team and is, potentially, the biggest match loser.

He doens't have same control like he used too . After gaining experience, Most spinner's control improves, but in Shadab Khan's case it is the opposite. What is the reason?

:kp

Yeah. He has lost control. Also not putting revs like he used to.

He has had major shoulder, back and hip problems and that maybe affecting his ability to land the ball consistently.

Lazy and no desire to improve, plus the fact he loves to play T5, T10 and T20 cricket, no matter at which level.

I wish him the best. Shadab Khan was a very good bowler in the early part of his career. The only way he fits in the team is as a bowler who can bat.
