Reports in the media saying that Ehsan Mani was offered to stay on for another 3 years after presenting a report on the PCB's performance under his tenure for the last 3 years.

Would you give Mani an extension?

I’d say so. Especially as the alternative is the ‘stupendous shot’ Ramiz Raja.

The guy is 76 years old.

How ridiculous. This ludicrous fetish for geriatrics in Asia!

Why what's wrong with with Ramiz

The guy is an embarrassment. He says random words, has no insight on the game and has not grown in any way despite being the prominent Pakistan commentator / analyst over the last ten years.

He lacks even the basic insight about domestic players when he's commentating for example.

100% one time opposing team commentators were telling him about guy making debut for Pakistan while Ramiz had no clue. He is only commentator in world who doesn't know about players debuting.

It would be a disastrous decision but predictable when you look at who the patron is.

Ehsan Mani has done nothing in his tenure besides hiding behind the incompetent Wasim Khan.

His sycophancy towards Imran is what got him the job, and it appears that it is going to get an extension.

Ramiz is a good choice. He is vocal, confident and will be his own man instead of taking dictations from the patron.

According to reporters EM wanted to step down for health reasons and retire but IK is pressing him to carry on for another 3 years. WK will not stay if EM leaves

Those chirping away at EM's incompetence, look at the guys resume. Just because he doesn't come and give interviews daily or highlight himself doesn't mean he is incompetent, he is a silent operator.

So at the moment we have a Chairman who doesn't want to be a Chairman for another 3 years and no replacement.

Mani is a great passion less person and performance of the team doesn’t matter to him. Looks like Misbah and Waqar will get another 3 years extension. Imran k is not the same person he used to be in 90s. Pakistan cricket is heading sake direction of hockey and squash.

True to form you waited until RR didn't get the job and then praised him. If he had got the job, your narrative would have been that RR is a terrible choice. EM has done a solid job, they have a reformed a terrible domestic system which left PK years behinds it's competitors. A system so poor that we produced only one World Class batsman in 2 decades

Misbah must be thinking to somehow get this position.

With the way things work at PCB, I wouldn’t be surprised.

3 year extension can be used as a transition period for WK to step up to the top job.

In another meeting, PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani and former Test cricketer Rameez Raja called on the prime minister.

Imran apprised Mani of his decision, hinting at the decision to make Raja the PCB chairman.

Raja will be nominated as a member of the PCB Board of Governors after which the governing board will elect a new chairman.

According to sources, Mani and Raja met the PM separately at the PM House.

On this occasion, the current situation and problems of Pakistan cricket were discussed.

Mani briefed the PM on cricket matters and the steps were taken during his tenure to revive international cricket and change the structure of domestic cricket.

According to sources, PM Imran informed the decision not to extend the incumbent PCB Chairman Mani for the next three years and to hand over the responsibilities of the PCB chairman to Raja.

The prime minister sought Raja's priorities and shared his vision for the betterment of cricket.
Sources said that Rameez Raja's name will be forwarded to the PCB Board of Governors as a member, and the board will elect him as the new PCB chairman.

Mani's three-year term as PCB chairman ends on September 4. The prime minister appreciated the services of Mani.

Well if he's been offered a 3 year extension he must be doing a decent job.

The key to all this is Zakir Khan - he is Imran Khan's eyes and ears to Pakistan cricket. He's been very close to Imran for many years and will be the man giving him advice and updates.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill on Monday said that PM Imran Khan has not yet taken any decision about appointment of new Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) so far.

Speaking at unveiling ceremony of Video Journalists Association Cricket Tournament Trophy here, he said it was a good omen for organizing a cricket tournament for journalist community of Islamabad. However, he said there should be sports competition for all Pakistan journalists.

A good friend of mine who headed the marketing department for the PSL had a lot to say about Zakir Khan; none of which was complimentary. He mentioned how Zakir's flagrant abuse of unchecked power was no secret and he enjoyed privileges that were not extended to anyone else within the PCB.

I'd be curious to know what contributions ZK has made to the PCB while being on its fat payroll all these years.

ZK has been very close to Imran for many many years. He was a key ally during Imran's playing days and they have remained close.

As I say ZK is Imran's main man within the PCB, his trusted eyes and ears and is key to any decisions.

Keep rotatint anceint people with ancient thinking.. pakistan is like a circus.

lets bring in shoaib akhter..or perhaps younis khan..thall shake things up..then after three months we can bring in azhar ali, then after they mess up four months later we can bring in a youn twenty year old from PP..at least you lot will have alot to whinge and moan about..

LAHORE: The complex situation currently prevailing in the Pakistan Cricket Board, after Prime Minister Imran Khan could not announce its two nominees for the Board of Governors (BoG), has raised questions as to who the incumbent PCB chairman is.

The prime minister, who is also PCB patron-in-chief, nominated Ehsan Mani and Asad Ali Khan as his two nominees in the BoG of the cricket board on Aug 24, 2018 for a period of three years which ended on Aug 23, 2021. Therefore, according to that nomination date, both Mani and Asad are no more BoG members and as a result Mani is no more PCB chairman.

Though the prime minister has appointed retired Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed as election commissioner for the election of the new PCB chairman, till the nomination of two persons either to retain Mani and Asad or to change anyone as BoG members, the process of election cannot start.

In cricketing circles, there is another interpretation signifying that as then election commissioner retired Justice Syed Afzal Haider issued the notification for Mani and Asad as BoG members on the PM advice on Aug 27, 2018, Mani can run the office till Aug 26.

The PM has not yet issued the notification for two nominees, from whom one will be elected as the next PCB chairman for three years.

According to a PCB official, there is no confusion in this regard as the PCB constitution clause 7-2 about the election of the chairman guides clearly. According to this clause, in case the post of chairman falls vacant for any reason and there is no vice-chairman elected by the BoG, the chief executive officer (CEO) will become the chairman to continue day-to-day working till the election of the new PCB chairman. And if the remaining BoG members ask the CEO that they want to elect a vice-chairman they could do it.

Sources told Dawn that the delay in nominating two nominees by the prime minister might be the result that a good number of candidates are running for the coveted post of PCB chairman which is considered one of the top positions in Pakistan, creating selection problems for the PM.

According to media reports, Mani is still a candidate for the next term, though he failed in many fields particularly in raising formidable Pakistan men’s, women’s and junior teams in all three formats.

Moreover, the domestic cricket structure has been hit hard and still clubs’ registration across the country has not been completed, a task which has to be done under the new PCB constitution implemented on Aug 19, 2019.

As a result, no elected bodies at the city as well as provincial cricket associations could be formed and no one knows when the entire process will be completed.

Important to note here is that three elected members of the provincial cricket associations should be included in the BoG but so far not a single one has joined just because the registration of the clubs is still going on.

Currently, only five members, all nominated, are working as BoG members out of total 10, which must be eight in numbers after the omission of Mani and Asad.

Though the PCB has appointed around 100 coaches with the 93 city cricket associations running directly under its own control, thousands of cricketers became jobless as the PCB under the new constitution abolished the decades-old departmental cricket in Pakistan.

During Najam Sethi's time, even though ZK was let go by the PCB and not employed by them, he was still getting a monthly salary from the PCB and just came to Qadhaffi Stadium to use the gym, fitness facilities and then left. This is just one example of the level of corruption that exists in Pakistani Institutions
