Overnight score: Sri Lanka 278 and 313, Pakistan 215 and 230-2

Pakistan needed another 147 runs to win with 8 wickets in hand which by no means was an easy task. They still had the scars of collapsing back in 2009. Younis and Shan started slowly picking up the singles until Shan lost his patience to come down the track to Kaushal and as stumped as a result after scoring a brilliant 125. Next in was the out of form skipper Misbah-ul-Haq who blocked absolutely everything that came his way. Younis continued to get on with his scoring on the other end to bring the target down to below 100. Sri Lanka took the new ball straight away but didn't have much luck. An LBW shout , which was reviewed by Sri Lanka also showed the bails clipping of Younis Khan. Pakistan went in to lunch being the happier of the sides on 321-3 with Younis Khan on 142 and Misbah-ul-Haq on 27 as Pakistan required another 56 runs to complete the historic chase.

Pakistan went in to attacking mode and started to score quickly after Lunch to finish off the remaining 56 runs. Younis Khan becomes the player to score the highest score in the 4th innings by a Pakistani. He crossed yet another 150+ and remained not out on 171 while Misbah on the other hand went all boom to finish on 59 as Pakistan completed a historic chase with 7 wickets in hand and take the series 2-1.

Fall of Wickets Day 5:

Shan Masood 3-255 (73.4 overs)

Result: Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets and take the 3 match series 2-1.

It was too easy in the end.

A great historical win nonetheless.

And it was away from home too, in a series decider.

Great win. Haha , they were testing the mic "1234" and Ramiz Raja said , " Ahhaa Sexy".

Brilliant competative series, probably one of the best 3 match series ever to be played. Well done Pakistan on such a run chase and to do it with ease, really glad to see YK and Misbah take us home as it shows what class players they still are. We still have plenty of weak spots in the team but still won the series, well done!

Great win, and a brilliant series, test cricket at its finest (the umpiring left a lot to be desired, but having favoured us a lot for the last two days I won't complain :shan), quality, quality knock by Younis

That is one hell of a chase guys! Many Congratulations from Bangladesh. Well deserved. YK showing his class again.

Team of the match award :)))

Haier Mobile Winning Team cash award :))) :)))

I for the life of me never envisaged such a result.

Well Done to Yasir Shah/Imran Khan, Sarfraz (1st inns)/Masood/YK (nothing short superlative) and Misbah (been poor this series, but finished the job with a timed fifty).

Credit to Waqar too. I've not been his biggest fan but the chasing mentality comes from the coach down to the captain and the other players.

Well Done all round.

These are the moments why its worth being a Pakistan fan.

This is why you endure the defeats to taste the sweet victories of today.

Well done.

I give the credit above all to Mushtaq Ahmed, who has made Yasir Shah develop into a top class spinner in nine months.

And I'm not forgetting Waqar Younis, who has turned Rahat Ali into a top class fast bowler.

Easy win. The batsmen could have beaten em with sticks of rhubarb for bats.

A very impressive win, congratulations.

See what difference it makes not having Hafeez in the top order.

Yaaay!!!! Its a Zindabadad moment...My word who wd have thought it...this is unreal.. this team never seizes to surprsie you.... what a victory.
All hail Younis khan - the architecture of this amazing victory .. A champion in Isolation ... A victim of other's crimes... A batsman in cage. You have done us all proud... take a bow YK.!!!!!

A thrilling test series.

Incredible win fashioned by YK with vital contributions from Sarfraz, Yasir, Imran, Shan and Misbah. A fine mix of experience and youth in the team made this possible.

This is only the 9th successful 350 plus run chase in the 4th innings in test history. Doing it in an away test is even more special

With the winning six Misbah also reached the milestone of 4000 test runs (58th test), Ave 48.19

Younis 8814 runs (101st test), Ave 54.07, needs another 19 runs to become Pakistan's leading run scorer in tests

Fantastic chase, alhamdulillah.

These are the benefits of having proper openers and not hacks like Hafeez and Shehzad.

Replace Babar with Shehzad.

Excellent chase, The thing that makes this victory even more special is the spectacular fightback after Pakistan was down and out staring at a mammoth total set by SL but YK made sure there were no setbacks and approached the chase sensibly and fluently by scoring one of his fine hundreds underpressure to get Pakistan over the line along with valuable contribution from Misbah. All in all a fantastic Test series win away from home in testing conditions, wonderful to watch.

Ive seen some great matches over the years but this has got to be up there as one of the best. We're used to watching our bowling defend crazy low totals against top teams but not used to them chasing. Thats why I put this up there with one of our best ever wins in test cricket. To do it when your team is still transitioning and just settling, against a top opponent who at homes are top class, to do this while we have all these problems floating above our heads,...no other team can do it.

Coming onto the combinations, Yasir Shah, wow, always knew this kid had potential with a few tweaks. Got to be the single most deadliest spinner around at the moment, would love to see him challenge the Indians as they play spin better than most. Wahab is finally fullfilling his promise and should continue to be our enforcer. Imran Khan is the type of bowler who every captain would want in their side, dedicated, hardworking, can swing the ball, seam it and reverse it but can also do the hard yards if required. Finally Rahat ali and Zulfi bhai. Rahat is just going to get better if he continues to learn from those around him, this kid could do some great stuff for us. And Zulfi bhai will always be a legend, such jazba and passion.

Moving onto the batting. Well the top order has always been a problem but in this series somebody has always stepped up to the plate, Hafeez stuck around to get some gritty 40's and then Shan also gritted it out. Thats what i want to see, a fight. Just get in there and fight it out even if you know your limited in some areas...the middle order has had its ups and downs but again at various stages everyone has stepped up..and if they all click somebody will get destroyed, just ask the Australians. I cant wait for the enxt Test series against the English, oh boy that is going to be good!! I hope Yasir just rips through them!! and our batting sends barbie into retirement...but lets see how it goes..one final special mention for sarfraz our future captain...passion, jazba, fight, hardwork. the hallmarks of a true pakistani player!!

Well done.

What did you think of IK Junior's performance in this test?

Great performance by the team. I'm so damn happy. This series means a lot to me. I can't believe how easy it was for us to chase such a massive target. In hindsight, I wish we were chasing an even bigger total. That way not only would we have broken the record of highest run chase, but YK would have scored a double century and Misbah a century.

Don't be too greedy mate.

Amazing. Amazing amazing amazing what one match can do! This is why Test cricket is the ultimate show of resilience and skill.

And with that don't we go up to #3 in rankings??

First of all thanks to Allmighty. Secondly, yes quite a memorable win.

Congrats Pakistan hats off! As a SL fan obviously pretty disappointed with how things panned out but it was a very enjoyable series with plenty of twists and turns. Can't ask for more than that.

The boys made it look so easy.. That's what I'm most happy about.

Ruthless performance

Great series win, one of the very best we had in recent times.

They started off by neutralizing Herat, who was the main reason we could not beat SL in last decade. Then Yasir nullify Sanga effect, who has scored more runs than anybody else against us.

In batting everybody chipped, Sarfraz, Asad in first, Azhar in quite a few innings, Shan shows us why it is important to invest in openers, what we got is far from good enough. Finally Younis finished it off in typical YK fashion, completely demolish the opposition in 4th innings.

What impresses me immensely about YK is his fitness and determination. Well fitness helps him to be determined when pressed. He is probably the most fittest batsmen every played for Pakistan. Best player of spin in the world for last decade, he kills spinners with his use of crease. Hats off to YK for one of the most memorable run chase, you instill the believed in fan that Pakistanis can bat [emoji108][emoji108][emoji108][emoji108]

Great chase and the sixth highest successful one in the history of test cricket.

By the way, it hasn't gotten a lot of attention, but Sarfraz sneaked his way into 50+ test average zone during this test match. Let's see how he does against England. What an amazing bonus it is to have your #7 batsman averaging this high!

Really fantastic win for us. Masood was awesome, really proved me wrong, happy for him. Can't remember the last time we won an away series against a decent side so very happy.

Credit to Misbah for excellent captaincy throughout the series. I thought there were periods where he could've done a couple of different things but overall he used Yasir brilliantly. It was good to see him attacking with the pacers as well.

Waqar, Mushy and Flower have been great coaches and mentors for Pakistan.

great performance by Pakistan Sri lankans probably never want to play us again thats twice against them lol
