The Windies’ fast bowler Ronsford Beaton has been reported with a suspect bowling action during the second ODI against New Zealand in Christchurch on Saturday.

The match officials’ report, which was handed over to the Windies’ team management, cited concerns about the legality of the 25-year-old’s bowling action.

Beaton’s bowling action will now be scrutinised further under the ICC process relating to suspected illegal bowling actions reported in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. He is required to undergo testing within 14 days, and, during this period, Beaton is permitted to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the testing are known.

Hmm. I didn't really see much wrong with his action but some people on social media did mention it looked suspect during CPL, looks like they've been vindicated.

He was chucking for sure. I got the impression the first time I saw him

Windies’ Ronsford Beaton has failed an independent assessment and is suspended from bowling in international cricket. The fast bowler had been reported with a suspect bowling action during the second ODI against New Zealand in Christchurch on 24 December.

In accordance with the Regulations, Beaton’s international suspension will also be recognised and enforced by all National Cricket Federations for domestic cricket events played in their own jurisdiction, save that, with the consent of Cricket West Indies, Beaton may be able to play in domestic cricket events played in the Caribbean under the auspices of Cricket West Indies.

The player can apply for a re-assessment after modifying his bowling action in accordance with clause 4.5 of the ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations.

St John’s, ANTIGUA - Cricket West Indies wishes to acknowledge a report from the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the suspension of fast bowler, Ronsford Beaton. The ICC is reporting that Beaton has failed an independent assessment and will not be permitted to bowl in international cricket.

Beaton will therefore join the fast bowling camp, now on in Antigua as part of his remedial program; following which he will undergo a reassessment process, which if successful, he will be allowed to participate at the international level.

Director of Cricket, Jimmy Adams says “we are fully committed to working with Ronsford during this period of remedial work which will hopefully accelerate his successful re-admission to the professional game.”

Beaton was reported for suspect action during the second ODI against New Zealand last December. The ICC noted that the international suspension will also be recognized and enforced by all National Cricket Federations for domestic cricket events played in their own jurisdictions; but with the consent of CWI, Beaton may be able to play in domestic events in the Caribbean.

he International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced that following remedial work and reassessment, the bowling action of West Indies fast bowler Ronsford Beaton has been found to be legal and he can now resume bowling in international cricket.

Beaton’s remodeled bowling action was assessed at Loughborough University in England on 13 August, where it was revealed that the amount of elbow extension for all his deliveries was within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations.

Match Officials are still at liberty to report Beaton if they believe he is displaying a suspect action and not reproducing the legal action from the assessment. To assist the Match Officials, they will be provided with images and video footage of the bowler’s remodelled legal bowling action.

Beaton was suspended from bowling after being reported during an ODI against New Zealand on 24 December, 2017.
