A probe was ordered against a private school in Jharkhand after students of LKG and UKG were given home work to learn national anthems of Pakistan and Bangladesh.

A controversy has erupted after a private school in Jharkhand asked its kindergarten students to learn the national anthems of Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Amid allegations against the teacher of having an “anti-national” mindset, the administration has launched a probe, while the school has withdrawn the class curriculum with immediate effect.

The incident took place at Ghatsila in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand when the students of LKG and UKG were last week asked by their teacher to learn practice national anthems of Pakistan and Bangladesh.

During their online class, the teacher also shared the lyrics and YouTube videos of the two national anthems in the school WhatsApp group for the students and parents, The Hindustan Times reported.

After the ‘home work’ came to the notice of the parents, they raised their objections with the school management.

The matter was raised by former MLA and official BJP spokesperson Kunal Sarangi. Following this, the district administration constituted a two-member team to investigate the matter and submit a report.

Parents’ association president Ajay Rai demanded action against the teacher. “We are not going to tolerate if any school tries to promote anti-national content,” Ajay Rai said.

The teacher said she only followed the school management’s direction. “The objective was to enhance the general knowledge of the students,” the teacher was quoted as saying by HT.

The school principal has apologized and said they have withdrawn both the anthems from the home work for students with immediate effect after protests.

Meanwhile, education minister Jagannath Mahto has said appropriate action will be taken if the allegations against the school and the teacher are proved true.

While its defn not anti-national but noway can this be a necessity. Also it would had been preferable to teach them about North East India why would kids that age be needed to learn about neighboring countries when they don't know everything about states in India(this issue I had with most education systems in India).

What’s the point in making kids learn national anthems of other countries? This is strange.

No harm in learning so that we can copy the good things from other anthems although Unesco has declared indian one as the best national anthem many times.

Indian anthem should also talk about being markaz-e-yakeen of hinduism. It is too much based on the geography (like the bangali anthem, by the same poet) and doesn't talk about the religion and the goal of the faithful.

It is not strange to learn national anthems of other countries but it is pointless to learn it in school.

Honestly I'd be angered too if Pakistani kids were being forced to learn nationals anthems of other countries, let alone that of enemy nation.

Reminds of many pseudo liberal indians who have love for pakistanis (which is fine) but see people of certain states or ethnicities within india with contempt. Or indians who are supposedly secular but have caste lines drawn in their daily life. When I see an indian liberal, I see a hypocrite (of course you are one of the better indians and I like you for your honesty despite your tiny flaws).

LOL our liberals are the same.

There is greater satisfaction from getting validated from The Other, who may be an enemy, but is more or less equal to you.

The contempt is reserved for those they see much below them. Once an upper caste hindu was boasting how his family is secular and his dad regularly invites iqbal uncle for dinner and we always attend iqbal uncle's family functions. I asked how many lower caste people has your dad invited for dinner. He had never even thought about it. I know his dad had a problem with lower caste people and would blame job reservation due to which now they were his colleagues and even superiors.
