Rumman's expertise lies in slower balls and yorkers which help him in T20 cricket. That's why he seems more of a T20 specialist. I don't think he can be a potent force upfront in the ODIs where the aim should be to pick wickets. But he can be useful in death overs if he is in good rhythm.
Not an attack option because he relies on yorkers and slower balls rather than on seam or swing.

Abbas was my choice.

Pakistan should play Junaid in playing 11.

EVENT TECHNICAL COMMITTEE APPROVES WAHAB RIAZ’S REPLACEMENT IN PAKISTAN SQUAD

The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 has approved Rumman Raees as a replacement player for Wahab Riaz in the Pakistan squad for the tournament.

Wahab sustained an ankle injury during Pakistan’s 124 runs defeat to India at Edgbaston on Sunday, 4 June.

Rumman, a 25-year-old left-arm fast bowler, has represented Pakistan in two Twenty20 Internationals to date. However, in 42 first-class matches, he has picked up 123 wickets.

The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the squad.

The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 consists of Geoff Allardice (ICC, chairman), Campbell Jamieson (ICC representative), Steve Elworthy (Tournament Director), Alan Fordham (host representative), Sourav Ganguly and Michael Slater (both independent nominees).

Pakistan will play South Africa at Edgbaston on Wednesday, 7 June, and then Sri Lanka at the Cardiff Wales Stadium on Monday, 12 June.

Good luck to the guy, I like him although he's not the quickest. My only doubt would be whether you can have two guys like him and Hasan in the same team as they are similar in a lot of ways. Both rely on smarts and variety rather than swing or seam.

Will he get to play the match? He is not playing tomorrow and then we only have a dead rubber against SL.

Did Abbas fly back? Should have kept just to make up the numbers.

dont they have somebody who is super fast? Pakistan is lacking a super fast bowler

he should be flown immediately and should replace imad wasim for tomorrow's game

but i guess its too late now, will only be able to play SL game

Usually in these situations the new guy coming in for someone injured tends to replace them fully sometimes, like the way Sarfraz replaced the injured Adnan Akmal and became a regular in the side. I was hoping if the same thing can happen to Wahab who is a totally useless bowler but I don't think Raees can do that in ODIs even though he's a good T20 bowler, hope he proves me wrong.

Good decision, he is a decent death bowler and we lack that in our team.

will he get a game.... NO... so why need a death bowler as a replacement who will not get a game....

I feel like this replacement is like the one happened earlier where khurram came in for shehzad in asia cup to make a feasible return for shehzad in the following series which is the WT20 2016...

sarfraz making an easy way back in for his buddy Wahab...

He should be playing asap. Not only is he a very good bowler who keeps it full and hits the bat hard, he also has a swagger about him that is lacking in our team big time

Poor judgement by selectors.

He may be improving but he does not seem to be a wicket-taking option in ODIs. Not the right avenue to send him even if you want to give him an opportunity in ODIs. Abbas is a better wicket taking option.

They should have gone with abbas. How many left armers do we need.

ramiz and sikandar bakht are saying that abbas should have been replaced and he is a wicket taking option, rumman raees is not

i dunno how they are rated as cricket analysts

but in this website people are more inclining towards rumman raees and some senior moderators are inclining towards abbas

interesting

more educated opinionators who know cricket better are saying abbas while majority of users here are inclining towards raees (im not saying raees supporters are any less educated in cricket just that mods will be taken as senior cricket analysts in this website i suppose)

in my opinion, rumman raees and abbas should have replaced imad wasim and wahab riaz and both tested simultaneously to analyse who is better than whom

i just wanted to add that even hasan ali/wahab can be replaced with abbas and raees because im my opinion hasan ali doesnt seem like wicket taking option as well

Better wicket taker than Amir that's for sure.

Not a bad option. Should be okay, atleast he won't hopefully leak runs as much as Wahab "1 awesome spell" Riaz

This is an interesting and 50/50 choice.

He has managed to tie down batsmen by bowling 4 overs, but can he do it for further 6 more?

If he doesn't become predictable for his 10 over quota, then he will be a success and if he can't, then he is going to be whacked.
