Pakistan have won the TOSS and elected to BAT first against SAF Invitation XI.

intresting match,,,wish star cricket telecasted it and saved us from this ''ongoing t20 league'' torture,,,,,
 
This is not a warm-up match, it is a proper FC match so only 11 players playing ....

No taufeeq umar and ehsan adil....

Looks like they are playing XI which they would play in 1st test
 
It's 11 a side so no Taufeeq. Irfan has been played.

I think we have a clear indication of who's in line to be chosen for the first test.
 
Nasir jamshed, Hafeez, Azhar Ali, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq*, Asad Shafiq, Sarfraz Ahmed†, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Irfan
 
wow to drop taufeeq for the only warm up on tour is a clear indicator that he's going to be warming this bench this series.

he has been our reliable opening batsman for more than couple of years and has performed pretty consistently. Jamshed is a great batsman , but has a fitness issue which is a very vital aspect of test cricket.
 
So this is definitely a 11 vs 11 side? Rather harsh on Taufeeq, but you could say Jamshed has forced the issue and deserves it. Just hope he gets a good score to get some confidence before the tests.

taufeeq usually only stays around for about 30 runs and if nasir does the same, then fitness won't be an issue :inzi :inti

People confuse fitness with his running between the wickets. Totally different things, he judges runs pretty poorly, but he has some long fc innings to backup his fitness credentials.
 
Hope South Africa are not doing an India here. Giving us one sort of wicket for tour match and then throwing green tops at us when the real actions starts.

We may find out when Pak bowl.
 
Hafeez playing with some freedom here, but when first Test starts he will probably go back to his usual tuk..swing and miss..tuk..swing and miss..4..edge and gone..

Not sure what you're talking about. Hafeez is a free-flowing player, a stroke maker. He had the highest strike rate of any top 7 batsman in the 3-0 whitewash series. If you're saying he will struggle against the swing, that may be valid. I don't see him struggling against bounce though.
 
lol at 'Hafeez is scoring so it must be a good wicket'. Jamshed is 4 off 22 and we know he's not one to hold back.
 
No sohail and adil hmmmmm..... We are going full out.. anyway 34 and jamsheed is taking things slow. Dont have it life so cant tell how he is batting. Is he confident like Azhar nlocking or just missing the ball and surviving.?
 
Confidence boosting start....but it is only that....a start...

Pakistan need to get good batting practice and actually need a bit of a challenge....so come on 2-3 wickets to fall and let us see how Pakistan react to pressure...
 
hafeez at 32 man if he can play like that is tests i would call it a good start.

I rather our batsmen take their time and make some confidence boosting scores, while getting used to the bounce. Pressure doesn't play much of a factor here in a random fc game.

Continuous wickets get us to collapse nearly 90 percent of the time.

It's a possibility but they took off Abbot early (who Hafeez was smashing). If there were edges, they would have kept him on.

That is why iut should have been aired for all we know Jamsheed is playing like Azhar and getting his ball going and hafeez is playing like sehwag and hitting everything cleanly.

Actually I don't know what you are talking about because the over I pasted he go 4 runs from 6 balls he played.
It's the mental aspect of his game I critisized. Now he knows it's only a tour match and he is playing with no preassure.

Let me take you back to 2007.

Pakistan made 485 runs in their innings in the tour match.

Hafeez made 108 striking at 90.

Then came the Test series and he made 99 runs in 6 innings! Of course the quality of bowlers are different in Test series but he doesn't handle the preassure and being a senior player he should do that now and step up in tougher conditions! This is his real test and let's see how he fares. Good luck to him!

Good start by Pakistan and especially Hafeez. But also good to see Nasir playing out many deliveries. Hopefully he catches up later InshaAllah.

Fair enough. I wasn't aware of that 108, thought he failed in the whole tour.

he's struggling but i think he will get better with time spent on wicket...
 
The best thing I've noticed about Nasir so far. Whenever he's struggling he is willing to fight through it. He won't give his wicket away. Great quality.
 
Why they are taking drinks so early as per c'info? I think it is very humid out there and I guess i.e. why Jamshed is struggling.

Exactly cant tell bcz of this. He has lasted this long and getting beaten again and again will get u out eventually. Who knows he could be playing like Hanif Muhammad .
