Salman Butt's tactics in WAPDA since 2015

Something I can't get hold of is Salman Butt and his weird and nonsensical batting order changes in domestic cricket ever since his ban ended. Firstly, he was brought in straight as a captain. Secondly, If you look at the batting order it's just never the same for WAPDA since he started leading them.
Sometimes he opens, sometimes bats at 3 or 4, and today he has been batting at no.6.

What appears to me is that he is trying his best to prevent himself from playing against the new ball and sort of maximising his chances to score runs at the expanse of the other batters. When the target is small, he opens, when it's big, he tends to send other ahead of him.

Does anyone know what he's been trying to achieve here?

Looked at the scorecard today and realized that he tried to avoid Abbas's new-ball spell.

A very shrewd move if he isn't injured or carrying any other problem. Stat padder of the highest order basically.

Speaks volumes of Pakistan cricket that a fixer who disgraced his country as the captain. Is allowed to come back and captain again at domestic level. He should never be allowed the PCB set up. Him nor Asif.

In a ideal world nor should Amir but I’m not getting into that debate with delusional posters. PCB need to make it simple. Anyone convicted of such acts are banned for life from playing for Pakistan and ever using PCB facilities or playing in domestic cricket through PCB. Simple.

Yet his average has still gone downhill since his return. It used to be in early 40s. Now fallen below 40.
