Scotland beat Ireland by 179 runs in Warm-up Match

Good news for Pakistan and India that Ireland is not in very good form at the moment :p

Clearly group A is the group of death. Looks to me Ireland are not as dominant as we once thought. The Ban-Pak was a proper warm-up game and both of them will have an advantage going into the first official game.

Scotland are a decent side, they nearly beat a pretty strong NZ XI side featuring a number of Black Caps.

Dreadful stuff, don't thinking team has acclimatized at all. Massive improvements needed

How is Group A the group of death- none of Australia, England, New Zealand or Sri Lanka will fail to qualify for the QFs

:))) and people talk about giving them odinstatus

This just proves that even though people here are abit hard on bangladesh but they are not as terrible as these associates are.

This happens to all teams. WI got bowled out for similar total recently.

Scotland is also a strong team.

People are forgetting that these are warm-ups. Don't prove a thing other than getting prepared for the real thing.

After this result, ICC should send IRELAND back to play with affiliated members so that they can learn to play cricket.

Not for minnows, they should take every match serious as they don't play with big team too often. Do they!

Great Scotland on form of their life before taking on the cornered cats :shakib

BTW thank you Team India for denting the confidence of the Afghan bowlers, Rohit Sharma  #bleedblue

If you actually looked someone questioned Irelands status since they lost. Is it not fair to ask about pakistan losing to club sides?

Questions and ridiculing are two different things, I am sure you know what I mean.

I am a long time lurker, hardly post anything but you have been a bit on offensive against Pakistan lately. So yeah couldn't help but jump in and post ...

But hey it's all good, may the best team wins. :)

But no I will defend the smaller cricket teams to the teeth. If we want cricket to be a truly global sport then we have to support their development

It was an atrocious performance yes, but you'd swear it was an official game and not a meaningless warm up. People questioning Irelands status would do well to remember we won the ODI, T20 and 4-day Associate competitions pretty easily and that was only 18 months ago.

We play Bangladesh on Thursday morning/Wednesday night GMT, we'll see then if this was a once off or not. If we suffer a similar hammering then I have zero hopes for the WC tbh. Players just dont seem to be able to cope with the conditions yet, hopefully that'll change.

And for the love of God drop Cusack and play Chase.

It was only a gift to Scotland for trying their best to get independence.

On a serious note, anyone who has some cricketing intelligence knows this was only a one off. Ireland is a much better team than this.

Even Pakistan would have struggled to chase this score

These are warm ups. Obviously you want to win a warmup but the purpose they serve is to a) get players used to new conditions; b) give players a hit out that closely replicates match conditions; and c) lets coaching staff see who is up for it in the event that there are some spots up for grabs.

Ireland missed an opportunity to give their batsmen time in the middle but the World Cup is not won, and reputations are not made and lost, on the basis of a warm up.

Bit of arrogance and snobbishness shown by some on this thread I see. As if their own teams not being associates is somehow something to be proud of. This isn't football. There's only 10 teams in the so-called "elite", and only 3 in the "real elite". You never know if your own teams may join the ranks of the associates 10 years from now.

Good performance by Ireland. If Ireland and Scotland could upset one test nation in this WC, the rat Srini isn't gonna screw over the associates.

Common Ireland, I support you.

I want this associates to put up a fight against Test nations otherwise World cup would be so boring. Group B in 2011 World Cup was so much interesting with Bangladesh and Ireland beating England compared to dull Group A.
