Since Sunny Gavaskar made his debut in 1970s, India has been lucky to have atleast one ATG level batsman in its team for most of the last 49 years. Gavaskar followed by Sachin then Dravid and now Kohli. Ofcourse there has been a host of world class batsmen that surrounded them.

Kohli is now 32, and has 5-6 years till he retires. Its time the team management tries to find his replacement and the next batting legend.

KL Rahul (not much time left but still has time) Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, Yashasvi Jaiswal, probably one of them?

Or rather the title should be "search for next stat booster superstar in India".

You don't need THAT GUY anymore if you can put on paper an all round world class team in which multiple players can step up.

As far ahead as Tendulkar, Lara were Australia were still beating them ruthlessly.

England for instance has not had world's greatest ODI Batsmen (Kohli, ABD, Babar) but they have been the best across last 3-4 years because they have packed that line up with studs. That should be the focus and it already is actually. India has packed it's batting.

It would be nice of course to claim.worldw greatest batsman. Matter of huge pride and we are also used to being spoilt in this sense but give me an all round match winning team over 1 Great and a bunch of jacks any day.

Instead of searching for a solitary "superstar" I'd much rather prefer aiming for a soild team full of just "stars". This superstar culture was good (somewhat) in the 90s and the early 2000s for subcontinental teams (re. Ind and Pak) but now as the sport has been professionalised top to bottom, there are a certain things we as fans need to let go off.

This.

KL has potential but not sure, already too late for him to reach that level.
Shubman Gill can but too early to predict.

Batting will be fine. We have pool of enough batters that at least some will reach the highest level.

Jaiswal
Gill
Shaw
Sarfraz Khan
Eeshwaran
Amolpreet Singh

India are stacked.

Worry about pakistan.dont worry about us.

No one’s worrying... it’s alright for Pakistanis to be appreciative of our neighbors

I was just messing around.
We appreciate your players too.
I rate Sameen Gul highly
Husnain I am a bit ambivalent about. Not sure.

That young batsman from under 19 is the real deal.
There are 2 can't remember their names but you know who they are. Rohail Nazir I believe was on that impressed me and the other one is already a good talent in T20.

I think your on about haider ali.abdullah maybe another one your on about

KL is already at his peak. He is 28. This is the best he can do and play.

Shaw is a dashing player. Unreliable. He needs to improve a lot.

Gill has the most potential. He has the calm head to back up with attacking strokes.

Padikkal has everything. Too early to judge as we have not seen anything from him outside of IPL. One more season in domestics and IPL, he will replace Rohit or Dhawan at the top.

Jaiswal had unrealistic expectations on him in IPL. He will come good in a year or two. He will be a solid contributor at best.

Lol, where did this response come from. Pretty sure this is a serious thread and not a troll one. Calm down.

Paddikal needs to impress in first class first otherwise he will only be a short game speiclaist.

What do you think of abdullah shafique and saud shakeel ?

Shafique is very good. Talented kid. He is a good technical player. Not a hack like many new modern era players. I rate him in the long formats. He will be good in tests.

Haven't seen Shakeel play too much.

Who’s your favorite from the names you mentioned? Or two favorites? I like Gill the most

Gill, Shaw (he is no where near full potential. If he puts the alooo tikka and burphy down he can be the real deal).

Sarfraz Khan is a surprise one. He is very talented. Would not surprise me if he explodes.

And any eyes on India’s current U16/U19 batch? We have some interesting ones coming through, Saim Ayub, Mubasir Khan, Abdul Faseeh, Mubashir Nawaz, Maaz Sadaqat.

I think the Indians want batting personality as well as runs for their main man. The guy, whoever it is has a pressuring legacy to follow.

You should go watch saud even if it's in domestic

I don't find anyone among the upcoming Indian batsmen to be specially talented or having the potential to be a batting legend. But maybe it's just early days, and the likes of Gill may raise their standards and surprise us. But as of now, no one has impressed me.

KL is already 28 so he will only play maybe a few more years than Kohli and Rohit.

I actually rate Surya Kumar Yadav highly. It is unfortunate that he has not played for India so far, and from the looks of it, doesn't seem to be in the plans of team management. But he has potential, even though he is 30, I think.

Gill and Shaw want to be that.. do they have it in them? No idea.

Biggest disappointment has been Rahul, needs to fire in the next 2 years to even be considered as good as Dhawan..

Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill.

Wildcard choice: Tendulkar's son Arjun

We don't need superstars. We need all round very good to world class players in all positions. There is no real purpose in having the best player ever and then followed by a bunch of nobodies.

I see India's interests are obviously different as they only pick players who are marketable with merit. One without the other is useless to India from a financial perspective. I hope they will reserve some exceptions.

Devdutt Padikkal finished the innings unbeaten on 99*(67b, 9x4s, 4x4s) against Tripura .
Missed hundred 💯
Karnataka: 167/5, 20 overs.
Disappointed with other Batsmens.
