I know its the other way round normally, but what is the best way to send money from Pakistan to UK?

I had the same question few days back when I wanted to move some money from India to UK. The other way was not that easy as sending money from UK to India (as the govt restricts a lot to move the money out than getting in).

The easiest way I finally did was, to use my Indian bank debit card directly in any of the cash machines in UK and withdraw it. There was some charge 2% or so.

If you do not have that way, then otherway is to make a wire transfer. For that you may need to walk into the bank and have to fill a form and request for a wire transfer.

These are atleast the two easiest way of transfering from India to UK. So I assume it will be similar for Pakistani banks too.

Bank transfer. Get a foreign currency account in a Pakistani bank(you generally need to have a certain minimum amount in your account at all times which varies from £50 at Faysal Bank to £6500 at HSBC). There's usually a £20 transfer fee. Don't use western union, they make you buy Pounds from them at massively inflated rates(in September 2008 when the official exchange rate was PKR 144, WU was selling them for 165).

You can send money via Western Union through their agents Habib-Qatar and Pakistan Exchange.

If you are sending it to a friend then I suggest Pakistan Exchange as they are very efficient.

whats the best way to transfer money from Pakistan to the UK, and is there any limits or other requirements when transferring more than say... GBP 10,000, or 20,000.

It’s literally impossible these days. You will need to do official money exchangers and show proof of where you got the funds and where they will be used in the UK.

Best is to ask someone you know who’s flying to UK to take $10k cash with them since that’s limit.

Depends how you define 'best'

1. Tax evasion?
2. Black money into white?
3. Concealment?
4. Convinience and legit?

If #4 then bank transfer, on large amounts.

whilst i understand being able to evidence where the money came from, how can i evidence how its gonna be used, esp if i just wanna bring it over so i have access to it.

yes, i know someone who did this with his family and brought over USD 30k, only thing that worries me about this is physically transporting the money from wherever i withdraw it from till im on the plane.

moneys clean, could be evidenced easily, no tax evasion, etc.

for number 4 would i be right to assume i would need to go to pak to open a foreign currency account with one of the major banks?

Just do it the easy way, buy gold, bring it to the uk and sell it, simple, life should not be so complicated.

Ask friends and family that regularly send money to Pakistan or someone looking to buy a property, pay them in Pakistan and collect the money from them in the UK. That's the best way to do it.

just use paypal. As per my knowledge, paypal allows transactions upto $10,000 in single transaction. If issue arises, ask the recipient to varify his account and it shouldn't be a problem.
