So from the above records it can be seen that England and Australia have been the best touring sides in South Africa, and apart from them, Sri Lanka is the only team to win a test series in South Africa.

Australia had a great run up until the infamous sandpaper tour.

England have been excellent touring South Africa lately, haven't lost since 1999/00 and won 3 of their last 4 series.

Yeah, sandpaper series was Australia's first series loss in South Africa since 1970. England have been great there too.

Although South Africa have lost test series to only 3 teams at home, In total they have lost 23 series at home and won 42 series. Their series win loss ratio at home is less than the series win loss ratio of Australia, India, Pakistan and England at home.

We have just 3 test wins in South Africa, not good. This year is a great chance to mend that awful record.

Sri Lanka also have only won 3 tests in SA, but they have won a series which India haven't. But later this year, India will have a great chance.

SA has won 5 tests in India. Just to catch up, India has to win 2 more in SA.

Despite losing series to only 3 teams at home, Overall SA still have been a weaker home team than Australia,India, England and Pakistan, if you look at their series win loss ratio at home.

It's due to the conditions. England are great in conditions where there is something in the pitch or through the air and their attack can take 20 wickets. On the other hand, When it is flat and true, they really struggle .

The main reason is SA having variety in pitches and that allows different teams to win games from time to time if SA is not top of their game.

The same variety has helped SA team to prepare for different conditions and win games in different conditions. Its just the flip side.

This record is in danger even against other teams, especially India and NZ unless they quickly find 2-3 good batsmen.

West Indies really should have won a series in SA. Such a shame that they never played SA in SA in the 80's and the early 90's, when they would have likely thrashed SA in SA.

For other teams, India and NZ now have a good chance to record their maiden series wins in SA.

You are right, but Overall England have had great success in Australia and India as well. They have won 14 series in Australia and won 5 series in India.

England have an amazing record in South Africa. They have drawn and won against some really good South African teams.

Yeah, WI probably missed out on winning in SA in 1980's, though not coz any fault of their own.

eng, aus and sl are the only teams to win a series in SA, thats a staggeringly good record, too bad this current lot are unlikely to keep that, nz and ind both have players to win a series in sa.
