At least four protesters shot dead in Chittagong port city during clash between police and demonstrators protesting against Indian PM Narendra Modi's controversial visit to join celebrations of Bangladesh's Independence Day.

Bangladeshi police killing their own people over a Hindu extremist.

Hopefully the Bangladeshi people will soon wake up and get rid of the bitter old woman they have in charge soon.

Nowadays before people can even protest in Bangladesh , Chatra league student activists wearing helmets and carrying sticks attack them

That is what happened in Baitul Mukarram, after prayers chatra league supported by police attacked worshippers.

Why does 'Hasina' keep getting votes? Lets be Frank she is a lapdog of Modi.

The "bitter old woman" has taken Bangladesh's GDP from $102B in 2009 to $302B in 2019 (~ +200%). During the same time Pakistan's GDP has gone from $167B to $276B (~ 60%).

Its nothing to do her, Bangladeshi ecomony was predicted to rise before she came into power.

Hasina(this name doesnt suit her at all) is responsible for her police shooting people dead because they were protesting against a modern day Hitler, just less smarter.

I think her time will come to an end soon.

It has everything to do with her. During the term of the previous PM (Khaleda Zia) from 2002 to 2008 Bangladesh GDP increased from $56B to $92B (64%) while at the same time Pakistan's increased from $78B to $170B (118%).

Essentially Pakistan was far ahead of Bangladesh during Khaleda's tenure, and far behind Bangladesh during Hasina's tenure.

The reasons I am comparing Bangladesh to Pakistan is due to both of them being in South Asia and being roughly of the same size.

Get real buddy. If Hasina was anti-India you'd be singing from a different hymsheet.

Pakistan has suffered a decade of terrorism, more than any other nation on the planet or proxy war to be accurate. Now we have captured spies, destroyed terrorists and told the world , things will improve.

However I wish Bangaldesh all the success, I have many Bangladeshi friends.

I am not delusional. I look at the numbers and accept what they say. I would not say that Hasina has not been a big positive for Bangladesh's economy even if she was anti-India.

As such Hasina is no more that pro-India, Bangladesh is getting closer to China and away from India due to the present Indian government's actions against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

From what I understand Hasina is the female secular version of Erdogan, she has a very heavyhanded undemocratic approach towards dealing with dissent but the western media and governments give it a pass because she's a "secularist"

This is too much. Lives lost over a foreign PM visit.

Did police fire at peaceful protesters who were sitting in Dharna?

Can't believe indian and bangladeshi intelligence agencies were not aware of such violent protests during such a high profile, domestically this will help BJP to consolidate hindu votes in West Bengal state elections

So basically by improving BD's economy, Hasina has earned the license to kill innocent PD citizen, nice, well deserving reward for.

Bow your head in shame and apologise for the utter nonsense you have typed in this thread.

I wonder how Bangladeshi people feel about their police killing protesters over a foreign PM’s visit? I know the current government is popular in BD but stuff like this will only push people away.

Current government is not popular in BD. Hasina regime is in power by force.

Chill, I was replying to Khan's question "Why does 'Hasina' keep getting votes?". I was not making a comment on the appropriateness of Hasina's reaction to the protestors.

Stop being a drama queen.

Hasina and her goons silence and cripple oppositions. That's how they stay in power. Hasina has also crippled military and filled it up with her own people. See Al-Jazeera's investigation documentary.
