I have heard that the quality of Pakistani made Greys ball is not good enough and it hampers the quality of Domestic Cricket.

Kokkabura is obviously expensive but I am wondering as to what are the differences between SG and Greys?

SG isn't that much more expensive then Greys but it helps spinners and can help Pakistan in UAE.

I am not calling for adoption for SG but just wondering the quality differences and why it isn't possible to manufacture a ball of at least SGs' quality in Pakistan.

Surely people in Silakot can make a better quality ball rather then importing the expensive Kokaburra?

Thanks

It is very much possible to manufacture a similar ball. The Dukes ball is made in Pakistan. PCB are just a corrupt lot who will opt for the cheapest option possible.

Sialkot is very good at Sporting goods so I am sure a good quality ball can be made

SG and Grays are very poor balls. Grays have very sharp seam that is very dangerous to field. I believe every FC team should use Kookaburra, they are my favourite. Never played with Duke. SG and Grays feel different than Kooka. What balls do the Pakistani National team practice with ?

PCB just buy the balls from whoever can grease their hands the most.

When we can make soccer balls that the entire world plays the Fifa world cup with do you really think making a Kookabora ball would be so hard?

Dukes are the best Test ball, because it keeps the shape till 80th over for bowlers. Machine sewn Kookaburra is very good for LO.

PAK team uses that particular ball, which will be used for the series (for which they are practicing); that's more or less every team does.

Kookaburra is expensive and there is no reason to spend so much if a viable alternative can be looked into.

If Dukes is manufactured in Pakistan then why not go with Dukes? Although it will probably get roughed up due to Pak outfields

I don't mind what ball they use, for as long as it is international quality, used domestically and internationally for home games.

I've just read the use of "Duke" and "Dukes" on this thread, do these both refer to the same ball used in England during their test season? If someone can please kindly clarify.

Same ball, and the name is Dukes.

The Grays ball is often too soft with the leather and seam coming apart even after 15 overs according to players like Mohammad Wasim.

According to Bazid Khan, Grays swings naturally more than any other ball in the world so you end up with mediocre bowlers looking like the next coming of Ambrose or Donald.

As Chief Destroyer mentions, PCB corruption is also to blame. Basit Ali and several other players, alleged that the contracts for these balls were offered during Ijaz Butt’s time to companies that were close to the then-chairman.

There also should be consistency. Use the same ball in domestic that we use in internationals.

If international matches are played with Kookaburra, why would you want your FC teams playing with another ball ? They all look and feel a bit different. Some of them are hard while some are a bit soft and they do feel a bit different in hands. FC teams should all play with Kookaburra if most of the international matches are going to be played with Kookaburra. If Duke will make your batsmen and bowler better, they should practice with it as well, but at the end of the day, they should be using the ball that is the same as the one used in international matches. Don't mind them practicing with Dukes if they are about to play a series in England.

Because Kookaburra is very expensive for Pakistan.

What I am saying is that why not iron out the kinks and use the same ball in Domestic and International games?

Kooks would have been fine if it wasn't so expensive, PCB needs to save money.

The problem with the balls has been ongoing for a decade at least as that plays a major part as to why our bowlers when play internationally can't get the ball to swing or seam.

Pakistan has never paid any consideration to actually improve the playing standards in the country for players to familiarise with the ball used in international cricket.

SG is a great ball and Pakistan should actually buy it for cricket played in their country.

Don’t buy expensive Kooks, Dukes or whatever. They are over hyped.

Ain’t nothing like an SG.

Last i checked, Dukes had a batch of balls manufactured in Pakistan.

Why can't PCB use the same manufacturer?
