Aggression and shot making is not equal to modern era. Its aggression + basic technique + game sense and awareness + shot making + adaptability.

Basic difference between players like Kohli, Rohit, Dhawan, Bairstow, Hales etc and others is the strike rotation and putting away the bad balls and ability to hit a boundary on a good ball when under pressure.
