The PCB has appointed left-handed batter Shan Masood as Consultant International Cricket and Players' Affairs۔

The 36-year-old has featured in 44 Tests, nine ODIs and 19 T20Is, scoring 3,108 international runs, including six Test centuries. Shan has also captained Pakistan in 14 Tests, including the recently concluded two-match ICC World Test Championship series against South Africa. Under his leadership, Pakistan defeated England 2-1 last year, their first Test series win against England on home soil since 2005.

He is good for these role. I can forsee him going into broadcasting after his career is over. However he should not be captaining Pakistan again.

So highly-qualified Shan Masood as Consultant International Cricket and Players' Affairs is replacing Usman Wahala

Likely roles for Shan Masood:

- Arrange home and away series for & Shaheens, and U19 teams tours, handle central contracts, prepare for ICC meetings, manage planning, logistics, and budgets

Isn't this the responsibility for Director of International Cricket?

Is another pcb circus event coming. Have Salman as test captain, Shaheen ODI captain and then they'll make Shadab as t20 captain

These are his responsibilities effectively

- Organize home and international series for the Pakistan team, Shaheens and U19 team
- Implement Central Contracts
- Preperations for ICC meetings
- Plan the logistics Operation Budget

There is no way he can do this as an active player, he will decide his own and his fellow players central contract? It will be a huge conflict of interest

^^^^ This

I think his captaincy is over albeit he has some skills that the PCB can use. I think as long as he retires from being an active player then this is fine.

Interesting move will be who is offered the captaincy next.

You really gotta applaud PCB -
You think you’ve seen it all but then they come up something so out of left field that it feels like they are intentionally just taking the pis#! 😂

Current test captain given an admin role? Like, who even thinks of these things man? What is this board, seriously?

Great. Please ensure the boyzz get gluten free non GMO and non additive chocolate cakes from now on to celebrate their 30s-40s instead of whatever they were getting before. Diet is important but so is celebration, hope you can understand this as player affair personnel.

LOL just when you think PCB can’t surprise you no more, they always do something to surprise you even more. And surprise in not a good way, but a bad way.

Not the most talented cricekter but possesses many qualities for which I like him. He is a decent guy, hard working , true professional with good man managment and communication skill. Good to see him getting editional responsibility which he deserves . I'm happy this role is not given to Misbah. I also think Sean should be given a place in ODI team, keeping in mind 2027 WC, he always plays well in SA. He can retire or discarded after that .

How can a current player be given a role in the PCB? Isn't this a conflict of interest? :kp

No, Shan Masood won’t be good in any of these roles because a person with a corrupt mentality will always think and act that way, no matter how educated or smart he appears to be. He’s been a beneficiary of favoritism for years, and people like him tend to return those favors once they’re in positions of power. Everyone inside and outside the PCB will use their connections to influence him, and he’ll feel pressured to comply because they’ll remind him how they helped him throughout his career, from undeserved selections over more deserving players to being handed the Test captaincy.

Let’s not forget, he continued as Test captain even after a string of poor performances and back to back losses, while others were removed or stopped for far less.

What’s even more shocking is that he’s been given this new role while still serving as Pakistan’s Test captain. Even if the PCB’s plan is to eventually remove him, this appointment should have waited until he was fully done with the Test team. But that’s the PCB for you, one person holding multiple roles at once.

Aaqib Javed is already moving from one role to another, currently serving as both selector and director of high performance. Naqvi has multiple positions himself. At this rate, who knows how many roles Shan Masood will end up with if Naqvi and Aaqib stick around for the next couple of years.

Mark my words — if Naqvi and Aaqib aren’t removed in the next few months and somehow manage to stick around for another year or two, they’ll drag Pakistan cricket to depths we’ve never seen before. The damage they’ll cause, both on and off the field, will take years to undo.

Pak is the only country where mediocrity can be rewarded by a additional posts. The sooner we get rid of Naqvi the better.

Shan has been rewarded for his pathetic performance... Wow PCB

And people were getting burnt by Babar's selection, but this appointment has crossed all the limits of making the PCB a joke

Mohsin Naqvi should resign.

That's how all government controlled industries function in Pakistan. Jiski laathi uski bhains.

If this is a way to remove Shan as captain, then it's even more embarrassing as it shows the board has to go out of their way to allocate a role for such a below-average stooge.

Mohsin Naqvi has officially appointed Shan Masood to evaluate Shan Masood’s form and decide if Shan Masood deserves a central contract—pending Shan Masood’s final approval.

Naqvi is like a cancer and must go.

How can a current player be doing this?

He’s obviously going to do favours for his team mates.
I think obviously they want to move him on from on field cricket. Even the inept PCB realise that our top 3 are weak with Kamran Ghulam being kept out due to players like Abdullah and Shan. So they are finding likely positions for him.

PcB is master of creating confusions, so is Shan an ex player now?or will he continue playing in the test team and do the duties as the duties as new role as well? If he continue as a test player, will there be any conflict of interest? What are his qualifications to take on the new role (though he doesnt merit his place in the team as a test batsman and captain either). Surely speaking english couldnt be the sole criterion.

So Shans disastrous reign as captain will end at
P 14 W 4 D 0 L 10

Clearly he was below mediocre level as well. As consultant I won't be surprised if he proves to be a disaster again

He is not going anywhere.. He will be working full time on both roles..LOL

Shan would have been ideal for this role if he wasn’t made captain, they’ve introduced all kinds of problems through this appointment.

Pakistan government has given Babar the Sitara Imtiaz for owning Zimbabwe
It was such a hopeful moment that Heddie was claiming Babar's status surpasses Quaid - E - Azam.

And no i am joking. I really wish I was though.

Man what a rise for Shan.

The OGs may remember his debut days where he was labelled as a camel with that lanky face/look and also was born somewhere in the middle east.

Not a lot of career high points in Pakistan colors but a very credible FC and List A record. If he's going to be sincere in the new role it can only be a good thing.

I do like him and support him as he is a nice guy and quite sincere, but legit he has failed his way to the top :ROFLMAO:

When Naqvi sees nothing wrong in occupying multiple roles from PCB head, ACC Chairman, Interior Minister, Narcotics Minister, Senator, and probably 50 other posts - then Shan being Test Captain and Director of International Cricket isn't a stretch for him.

As if your youngsters broke the world record? Anyways, the point was to refrain from derailing the thread and not to make them about Babar/Rizwan everytime. Every thread has its own purpose of discussion.
Do I have an issue with you calling yourself Ball Blazer but you love a tuk tuk brand of cricket?

As if your youngsters broke the world record?
What??

Is this sarcasm??

What’s “my youngsters”?? Are they my kids representing Pakistan??

They are my youngsters and RizBar are your elders???

What do you mean by this statement? Did they break records? Well yes they did 🤡

This is a weird appointment. He is captain and as there is no announcement of any change, I am assuming he will carry on. We need the likes of him in the PCB to stop the stupidity totally taking over with Naqvi and clowns. However, having both roles is plain silly

Shan should be named as the PCB chairman itself... Why just an international consultant and captain of the test team.. Make him t20 and odi captain also... Come on Naqvi sahab, you can do it

Reporters are reporting that the PCB is encouraging him to retire from professional cricket and take on the position on a full time basis
