Yes, the quality of cricket has not been the best in the tournament. The pitches are not very good. The fielding has been comical. Some players are not taking the tournament seriously. The boundaries in some stadia are very short.

But amidst the pandemic, this tournament has been organized very well.
Credit needs to be given where due.

Some players are visibly playing out of their skins to get noticed or giving their best.

Some players have come off really well and looks to be grabbing the opportunities with both hands.

So let's see the positives and the players we have seen who have put their hands up or have sort of rejuvenated.

1. Haider Ali - without a doubt has been the biggest positive.
2. Abdullah Shafique - Another highly rated cricketer on PP who has done really well.
3. Azam Khan - has silenced majority of calls pointing towards nepotism in terms of his selection.
4. Mohammad Rizwan - Possibly the heart and soul of the tournament. Has been giving his all in the ground, whether it's batting, fielding or keeping. Has been generating positive energy throughout the tournament.
5. Sohaib Maqsood - Since spending the time in obscurity, has shown he is on a path of redemption with a few good knocks.

Any other positives we have seen in the tournament?
What do you guys think?

For me it’s Danish Aziz. His temperament and the skill set of finishing games is what national team requires at the moment. Abdullah Shafiq is another good find but he should replace Hafeez in near future while Danish is ready to replace Malik.

Shadab Khan?

I find him learning new things all the time.

also he seems to be a decent captain.

also haris rauf, has been really good with the new ball, should open with shaheen for national team for next 5 or 6 games to see if the partnership works.

Danish is a case of what confidence can do to a player.
I don't think he would go on to become a great player but his confidence has been paying him off well.

Couple of young batters have really put their hands up and been noticed

Its good to see because historically batting has been the weaker suit for pakistan

1/ Abdullah Shafiq
2/ Danish Aziz
3/ Khushdil Shah

Also Zeeshan Malik, Ali Imran, Azam Khan, Zahid Mahmood, Zafar Gohar and Rizwan

1/ Abdullah Shafiq

Also Zeeshan Malik, Ali Imran, Azam Khan, Zahid Mahmood, Zafar Gohar and Rizwan

Haven't really been impressed by Zafar Gohar here. He doesn't spin the ball as much as he used to. Has majorly been giving away too many runs without getting many breakthroughs.

Abdullah Shafiq Class

Danish Aziz T20 version of Haris Sohail

Hasan Khan finally getting a chance to show his all round skills

Mohammed Ikhlaq's six hitting

Shadab Khans Captaincy

Azam Khan Suprising everyone, Hope he plays FC.

Amad Butt Being one of the only bowlers to Swing the ball

Mohammed Imrans batting

From what I have seen, Haider Ali has been the best looking batsman and Sohail Khan has been the most effective fast bowler. Zahid Mahmood has been the best spinner on show. Rizwan has been the best wicketkeeper on show.

Many highly rated players have been disappointing (Mohammed Ilyas, Mohammed Hasnain, Hussain Talat, Zafar Gohar to name a few).

Khushdil Shah and Danish Aziz both looked good. Khushdil deserves a run in the ODI side but ideally I'd like to see Danish in the PSL.

Loads of talented guys coming up mashaAllah, especially batsmen.

Can make an XI out of uncapped players who have done well in this tournament.

1) Ali Imran
2) Zeeshan Malik
3) Abdullah Shafique
4) Azam Khan (wk)
5) Mohammad Ikhlaq
6) Danish Aziz
7) Hassan Khan
8) Amad Butt
9) Usman Qadir
10) Ahmed Bashir
11) Akif Javed

Apart from that its also been good to see guys part of the national team like Shadab, Shaheen, Haris Rauf, Babar, Haider, Imam and players who've been on the fringes for a while now like Khushdil, Zafar, Musa do well. Its been a good tournament, now lets see how some of these guys develop.

Zahid was pretty poor before today's game, Usman Qadir's been better
Zafar is literally the only left arm spinner to do well, bar Imad. The others have been terrible. Kashif Bhatti in particular is so overrated.

Sohail Khan's days in international cricket are probably over.
36 years old and one of the most unfit guy, don't see him playing another game.

Usman Qadir's leg spinner has impressed me. Spins the ball quite a lot.

Have always like Amad Butt, can swing the ball. In unafraid to bowl fuller and in death. Is very confident with the bat. Has quick reflexes. Could be a good no. 8 in future in LOI's if he further improves.

The people who have impressed me are Abdullah shafique, danish aziz, akif javed, azam Khan and khushdil shah

Really good pakistan A team though I would add rohail as keeper. They should pick these guys to tour nz before national team.

All of a sudden we have an exciting crop of young batsmen all coming through at the same time. Yet i'm not positive for one simple reason.

This is quite frankly the worst possible time to have Misbah at the helm.

Contrary to the OP, the standard of cricket, barring the fielding has been very good and extremely watchable.

OP blamed the pitches for not being good, when in fact they have been fantastic.

You need to cast your memory back to the slow and low pitches we used to get every year in domestic tournaments.

Contrast that to what we have seen in Multan and especially Rawalpind this time around; there has been true bounce, great carry and a little bit of grass to encourage everyone.

The good batsmen have had the ball coming on nicely on to the bat, and the fast bowlers have extracted great life out these tracks whenever they have bowled well with the new ball.

The fielding remains a big problem though but i am sure the standard will improve on that as well in the coming seasons.

I like this new system for t20's. the 2nd xi tournament finishes midway throught yhe 1st xi so swaps can be made, and if you perform in the first xi,where thousands are watching so the pressure is on,the psl draft possibly awaits. A nice 3 tier system.

There some really good young players coming through. The surprising aspect of this Twenty20 competition is that the batsman have been pretty impressive with playing mature knock. No hacks slicing bats around and more proper shots being played and clever cricket being played.

Many good performances...some of the top performers who have shown their class are..

Azam Khan Danish Aziz....Akif Javed....Ahmad Butt ..Zeeshan Malik and Abdullah Shafique.....U Qadir Qasim Akram and Zafar Gohar did decent......
Others who looked good are already in the team or in the national squad like Haider Khushdil Shadab Babar Imam ....... RAuf Musa Hasnain...
Fielding has improved .....baring yesterday's matches....
Good tournament now all eyes on the final showdown
And Qaid e Azam

On the batting front I definitely want Haider Ali and Abdullah Shafiq playing the next few international series (both Odis and T20s) and then have them transition into the test side if they perform well in the FC season. They should become all format players. Azam khan has been very impressive and has immense ability, maybe he needs some time to learn how to build his innings (and continue getting fitter) but he’s another who needs opportunities soon. Zeeshan and Rohail also impressed but I haven’t seen them play much as yet.
Mix in babar, Haris & rizwan in tests/Odis and babar, kushdil and Iftikhar in odi/T20s and we potentially have very good batting line ups in the coming years assuming we give these players proper opportunities.

With the ball it’s great to see Haris Rauf and Akif perform. Shaheen, Haris, Akif and Husnain give us good pace options in the limited formats.

Still need a pace bowling all rounder but didnt seem to get closer to finding one. Yamin is only good for 2 overs with the new ball and hasn’t had opportunities to showcase the batting. Amad s bowling has some bite but didn’t do enough with the bat so the search continues

A huge positive is that for the first time since forever its the batsmen that are impressing. Haider Ali, Abdullah Shafiq, Azam Khan, Danish Aziz, Khushdil Shah. Even the likes of Sohaib Maqsood and Sarfaraz playing well.

Any better that now misbah is not cheif selector
