"Shoaib Malik, Sharjeel Khan & Shan Masood can play a great role for Pakistan" : Inzamam-ul-Haq

Inzamam speaking to the media

"Pakistan's performance in the Asia Cup 2022 were not that good but what is more worrying is that the middle-order did not step up when they were required to. The conditions of the World Cup in Australia will be extremely difficult and the conditions need to be kept in mind before the selection"

"I think Shoaib Malik, Sharjeel Khan, and Shan Masood can play a great role for Pakistan given the current situation"

He further added that the seven-T20I series will be a good audition for players to make a statement in regards to their call-up for the World Cup later this year

“Yes, it has been after a long time that Babar Azam did not score in a tournament. He’s a big player and can get back his form but the biggest concern for Pakistan should be the middle order which did not work for the team. The middle order needs to be changed. Australia (as world cup host) will be a different ball game and selectors must take this into consideration when they pick the team for the T20 World Cup,”

Yes he is absolutely right.

Malik miya can be extremely good as talent scout for PCB

Shan can be excellent as a motivational speaker for senior team how to keep working hard at skill development despite limitations of talent

Sharjeel can be a great speaker for youth teams to advise them on the perils of avarice and unhealthy eating habits and guide them on what not to do

That made me chuckle! But Sharjeel could do well as he is a back foot player.

Shan masood yes but the other 2 no way ..Thank god this clown is not the chief selector anymore

No sense to keep out Sharjeel Khan

He is a beast T20 opener

Players out of the team are always better than the players in the team. You can select anyone, they can't do jack if your top 3-4 leave you with 70 runs to get off 5 overs against quality bowling, against long boundaries and on pitches where it is not easy to tee off from ball one.

More than changing any of the players, the selectors need to punish and drop players who play for themselves at the expense of the team.

Inzy’s T-20 top 3

Imam
Masood
Malik

Never mind the train taking off, it won’t even start to leave the station !

A legend of Pakistan recommends the selection of Sharjeel Khan.

Armchair experts on Pakpassion who swing cricket bats like Kate Middleton say he’s not good enough for Pakistan.

Hmmm, I wonder which one could be right.

Malik has got to have most games ever by an average player in cricket history. Stunning really when you look at SENA history.

In ODI's:

Australia - 31 average 69 SR in 17 innings
NZ - 10.44 average 55 SR in 10 innings (bro... how is this even possible)
England - 13 average 68 SR in 28 innings (my god... this is even worse considering its nearly 3x the matches in England vs NZ. Played 2019 WC in England too. Amazing really)
SA - 41 AVG 77 SR in 17 innings (not bad and totally shocking)

In T20's:

Australia - 1 match (3 runs off 11 balls) - so much for "experience"
England - 22 average 104 SR in 12 innings
NZ - 24 average 135 SR in only 3 innings
SA - 29 average 128 SR in 12 innings (surprising decent in SA & minnow level elsewhere)

He is super old and can't play pace anymore. In Australia, that is all he will get & bounce. I don't know why anyone thinks Malik should be selected.

What role can a 40 yr old play in t20s Inzy sahib?

Maaf karo hamein pls

Malik in 2022? And that too in Australia. WOW. RIP Pak cricket.

But I can totally see this happening in our cricket though.

Sharjeel
Rizwan
Babar
Shaan
Fakhar
Iftikar
Shadab
Nawaz
Shaheen
Rauff
Naseem

This should be playing XI

Shoaib is bad for team chemistry, Sharjeel is a fixer and Shan is just having an extended purple patch. Won't mind if Shan is included though.

Shoaib Malik is one of the greatest minds to have held a cricket bat in limited overs cricket. The fact that he is still scoring runs for fun at 40 years old shows how good he is. He still walks into the shambles that is our middle order on merit alone.

He would’ve steamrolled Sri Lanka but his haters would be crying as usual. Ungrateful Pakistani fans deserve Iftikhar and Khushdil.

Even if you look past the fact that Malik is a snake, he has an average of 15.9 and SR of 115.6 in T20Is in New Zealand and Australia.

I don't even wanna call these numbers tail-ender like stats because in most cases tail-enders tend to have much higher strike-rates.

If the World Cup was in Asia, Malik would be an obvious pick. In AUS/NZ he is a walking wicket.

Sharjeel is a joke of a cricketer. People who criticize Babar and Rizwan have seen nothing yet. Sharjeel is almost Ahmed Shehzadesque in his utter inability to rotate the strike. He is a total leg-side hack...actually, he is just a hack. The kind of guy who will play one good fluke innings and then follow them with 10 failures.

The fact that his selection is even being discussed tells you how out of touch certain fans and ex-cricketers are with common sense and basic logic.

The reason why Sharjeel doesn't get into the squad is because Sharjeel has to open and Babar and Rjzwan won't allow that and that's the reason why Fakhar is backed more becouse he can bat in different positions.

He also recommended a 40 year old Malik.

Malik couldn't play pace at his prime, what hope does he have in his 40s....and he's not the best person to have in the dressing room too.

Sharjeel can't rotate strike and can't field.
Babar would struggle to hide him on the field in those big Australian grounds.

He might score good in 1/2 games but ultimately he will cost more runs than he would score in the whole tournament.

Respectfully, your anger and opinion holds no weightage before a World Cup winner, a man with a Test match average of 50, a man who has 11000 ODI runs including 80+ 50s and arguably the greatest batsman of pressure in Pakistan history.

He may be limited in his range but he does score runs You dont become t20 number one bat if your a hack
You become the number 1 T20 ranked player by not being allowed to play IPL, playing every bilateral series against the significantly weakened main teams who have players saving themselves for IPL and teams like Zimbabwe and West Indies

I guess you are one of those people that watch cricket with their eyes closed.

No, he is actually a very fair and neutral observer of international and domestic cricket. He is a very underrated poster here. And he is 100% right, Rizwan is poor on the off-side and has to drag everything to the leg side to have any chance to score runs

Sharjeel can’t rotate the strike but he can score 100 off 50/60 balls

Rizwan can rotate the strike but he will score 60 off 50 balls

I know who I would rather have

I agree I didn't say he doesn't score runs but most of his runs are leg sided.anyways nothing wrong with being a leg side hack.

I have my cricket knowledge and qualifications than he will ever have lol.

Rizwan career in International T20's: 51.13 AVG 127.07 SR in 51 innings
Sharjeel career in International T20's: 22.55 AVG 133.11 SR in 18 innings

Marginally better SR with a massive difference in average.

Can you share Rizwan’s middle order stats as well, the sole purpose he was fast tracked into the side by Misbah?

Stats don’t matter. Ris and these boys are honest blue collar workers, what they lack, they make up for with hard work and determination. No inbred behaviour. This side on paper is one of the weakest ever but they over achieve because of their attitude and work ethic. You rather back these guys then the snakes who have wiped their behind with the great flag

How was he fast tracked? He was a regular in his late 20's after piling up tons of runs in domestics across formats. Pakistan only real wicketkeeper option too after Sarfraz and that still remains as of today.

What great flag? What have we done for Pakistan? We don’t live there, we don’t struggle there. We are only spectators, we are here to be entertained. That’s all.

Rizwan had his chance. He’s had an extended long run in the powerplays. He still hasn’t gained enough confidence in his game to play proper T20 opening strokes. He is the Lucas Toriera of T20 cricket. Has all the grit, skill of a tough competitor, however at some point you just have to move on and let the stronger and more dynamic player come in and do the job.

The problem with Sharjeel is even he goes on to score a 25 ball 50, he'll give 20 free runs every match in the field in the grounds of Australia where the singles turn into twos and twos into threes by batters.
With a fielder like Jadeja, no batter would dare take a chance to run an extra run, but with weak fielders, it won't be the case. That is already going to be the case with our team with their jalebi fielding (even without Sharjeel), but with him, it will get even worse.

For us it may be entertainment, but for the players it's the profession and what matters most is how many matches and trophies they win. Not how much they can entertain.

Whoever gets selected, I just want my team to win.

I think sharjeel will be selected and hopefully after the England series he will be thrown out before the World Cup as he will inevitably fail.

Guess he saw Iftikhar in the side and thought with Malik being a decade younger could do a better job overall.

This....and don't forget the running between wickets, even others will lose out on runs due to his lazy running.

And it's not that he can score 25 ball 50 consistently.

The ship has sailed for Sharjeel...any player who isn't bothered to work hard and get in proper shape doesn't deserve to play.

Things like this is why Inzi is no longer chief selector. Shoaib Malik and Sharjeel Khan are terrible picks for any international cricket tournament at present, never mind a T20 World Cup in Australia! One is too old and the other has the same fitness levels as Inzi currently has.... I suppose if we can get the opposition to agree to take it easy and drop a few catches they might manage double figures.

Maliks greatness is there for all to see in world cups not even 1 innings of substance despite playing umpteen times you’d rather lose with a younger batsman than Malik who’ll be a tailender in Australia.

Speak for yourself, but don’t belittle flag just because your knickers are in a twist :yk2 put some respect on the moon and star :afridi

It says a lot about the folk who favour players that do coke on a daily basis and are the biggest snakes over this honourable bunch. Ris has to play no matter where in the XI, there are few people like him in pak cricket. Which of these dynamos have even half of his character or contributed to high profile wins against rivals, this asia cup was one of the all time great runs for Pak

Actually it does. Because I am talking in ground realities, not perceptions. Sharjeel's performances in the PSL speak for themself and accurately demonstrate the point I am making.

I also couldn't give two effs what yet another ex-cricketer has to say. the same ex-cricketer who had the incredible wisdom of bringing back Ahmed Shahzad and Umar Akmal repeatedly when he was chief-selector.

In Pakistan the opinions of 99% of the ex-cricketers have about as much credibility as this country's currency. So I have no idea why you are touting that as something that holds any kind of meaning lol.

Shoaib Malik in 2022? His career should have ended in 2009, but some people think we should still have a 45 year old Shoaib Malik (who was never that good to begin with) in the team. If Malik plays again for Pakistan, we might as well stop playing cricket.

So did Misbah when he was Head Coach and Chief Selector but I bet you won't have much to say about that will you?
