Batting Analysis

Fundamental concept of the batting analysis:
We would all agree that in ODI and T20 cricket Average doesn't mean much without SR; and SR doesn't mean much without Average.
Averages and SR are now equally important in LOIs
If you agree with the above then the attached table and graph above shows you the top 25 batsmen who averaged high with a high SR using a simple formula:
SR * Average
Babar Azam - He played just two innings and scored 2 100's averaging 120.5 and SR of 119.9
This performance puts him at the top of this table and the graph shows the distance between the next best batsman in the tournament: Shaan Masood
S.Masood was the top run scorer of the tournament, Avg 109.33; SR 100.45 in 8 innings. Those are some really impressive stats.
I see some very familiar names in the top-10: Fawad Alam, Shahzad, Manzoor, Iftikhar.
Bowling

Fundamental concept of the bowling analysis:
Wicket-taking ability (SR) and Run-leaking Ability (Econ and Avg) are important aspects to judge a bowler.
Its okay to leak a few runs as long as you are picking up wickets CONSISTENTLY some would say.
So here, I am using another simple formula to see the pick of the bowlers in this tournament:
Average * Econ * SR
The lower the value, the better the performance (since low avg, econ and SR are desirable)
Sadly we see two TTF's at the top of the table here: RAHAT ALI and SOHAIL TANVIR
To me this shows the level / quality (or lack of) bowling in this tournament which also creates a level of doubt about the batting quality automatically.
Conclusion
Nothing New here really!
Another Domestic Tournament and another platform for a lot of TTFs like Rahat, Tanvir, Anwar Ali, Iftikhar, Shahzad, Manzoor to shine.
Demonstrates the sad state of our domestic structure and poor competition level.
This is why these TTFs fail so miserably at international level because of the poor quality of oppositions they face in domestic.
Some interesting observations:
- No Kamran or Umar Akmal in there
- Babar is miles ahead of other domestic batsmen available (at least in ODIs)
- Khurram Manzoor scored the most 100s (3), followed by Babar (2 in 2) and Shaan (2 in 8)
- Sadaf Hussain is in the top 4 mainly due to his miserly econ rate of 3.75 only! (Note: This was a batting dominated tournament)
- Mohd Imran (21 yrs old - Medium Fast Bowler) was the pick of the bowlers (Statistically);
- Zia ul Haq (for some reason Cricinfo shows his age as 37) - I am sure he is younger than that
- No 5-fers in the entire tournament. Best Bowling figures were of Raza Hassan (4/27)
