Should ‘strategic retirement’ be a thing for Pakistan in T20s?

Honest question. Simon Doull has mentioned this word twice in two days. Once for Sarfaraz unnecessarily occupying the crease and today for Shan Masood, who hasn’t hit a six for the past 100+ balls he has faced.

It is clear that Pakistani top order Batsmen since Mickey was sacked tend to overstay their time at the crease, and lack the acceleration to finish an innings off the way Martin Guptill might do so by taking down every bowler once their eye is set.

Maybe it’s time the management considers this route going forward considering Babar may retain his place as captain, or if another captain who idolises the current opening pair is made captain

Thank you for speaking the truth Simon Doull

Yes.

If you are still anchoring after 12 overs with lots of players still to come you should either furiously accelerate or retire.

Can't anchor for the whole 20 overs.

If a batter doesn't score well then he should get out.

Teams strategise to have certain players on strike, if that player just retires to bring another one in then its unfair to the opposition.

Not a great idea from Doull.
