Should Asad Shafiq have been made Test captain instead of Azhar Ali?

In my opinion, Shafiq should have been made captain. He is different to Azhar and seems a bit more aggressive and clever. I also think captaincy could bring the best out of him. He is still in decent touch with his batting and is a vital member of our test team.

hell noooo, shafiq is the longest riding passenger in this pak team. 1 hundred in his last 15 tests and literally no one talks about his place being under threat.

has been years since he top scored in a pak test win. despite being the second most experienced batsmen still plays in the lower middle order.

azhar for all his flaws has never shied away from batting in the more difficult positions and had a few years where he performed very well, asads career is defined by mediocrity, he could retire tomorrow and by next year barely anyone would remember any knocks of his other than the Brisbane 100.

Things are only going to get better. We have to groom someone else as VC who can take over from Azhar when it's time. Someone who also deserves his place in the team, averaging good over a large sample size.

Besides, Shafiq is also too timid.

At least Azhar can open, but this guy has been hiding behind the no. 6 or 5 position for a decade and still can't perform like a senior.

Just compare him to Babar and you would think Babar is the one who has been groomed at 6 for several years, but has been moved up now and is scoring heavily.

This guy is an utter garbage of a batsman.
