I find him to be one of the smartest cricketers in Pakistan. Despite not being part of the system, he has managed to achieve great success. He's the sole player from Lahore Qalandars' Talent Search who has made a name for himself.

He's a quick learner and on this tour, he was very smart with change of pace. He was undoubtedly Pakistan's finest performer in this tour. Not long ago, he player important role in series wins in Australia and South Africa.

He possesses the jazba that characterized previous Pakistani players. Yet, he is also intelligent, as evident from his calculated responses in the interviews. Considering the next ODI World Cup will be in South Africa, where conditions would suit his bowling, do you guy think it would be wise to consider him as a potential captain?

No

A) He's 31 but likely age fudged a bit, so not a long term option.

B) He's injury prone to a certain extent albeit not as much as naseem or shaheen

C) He more or less supports the lobby and doesn't have much captaincy experience.

Agha with his t20 side is the fight choice. Solid allrounder who consistently reinvents himself, isn't a part of any lobby and is willing to play for the team and adapt to modern standards of the game.

He conducts himself in interviews as well and doesn't make stupid statements and tactically he's a very good leader even if pakistan got thrashed due to an inexperienced side.

He's got all the acumen to be a leader with Saim Ayu following in suit once he hits 27-29 years of age

Tbh bro I’m not sure the guy can last a full series

Plus on the field he gives me vibes of being a bit hot tempered or on the edge. Off the field the guy is quite charismatic and talks sense, chilled out bloke.

Not a bad option, but you need to see him lead somewhere before just handing him the reigns for Pakistan. Ideally LQ should make him their captain first and we can see what he’s all about.

He had kept Pakistan in the Game in the T20 WC 2022 final
Maybe one off game but there is enough data to support he breaks under pressure even in that tournament his over vs India changed the game and all remember his garbage out put in India 23, Westindies 24 and Pakistan 25

You can bring even the greatest captains to this team, but the end result will be the same as what happened to someone of the stature of Gary Kirsten.

PCB needs to be privatized, there is no way in hell it can function like it is doing currently.

No one can function in such an environment, no one.

Most Pakistan players in the current team have crumbled under pressure. Haris is the biggest match winner among the senior players at present.

Brother it will be too risky. Because he’s a fiery pacer sometimes he goes for a lot of runs. At times when he won’t be taking many wickets he will be constantly put under pressure by Anti National media.
can you please elaborate the last part of your post?

This I agree with. But not sure how we can judge Saim Ayub’s captaincy potential at this stage of his career

lol no he is not.. not even close to being a match winner and the last time he bowled well was probably the Aus ODI Series at the end of last year

1. Crumbled against India in 2022 WorlldT20
2. Hammered in Asia Cup 2023
3. Hammered in ODI WC 2023
4. Hammered in CT 2025

You want the biggest spray gun and bottler to become the captain?

His own spot is in danger and he’s a proven match loser with his spray gun pies.

How can you even forget his thrashing in EVERY tournament, most recently in the World Cup in India ? And US too?

He is a big contributor in our losses so far. Some fluke bowling performances in meaningless bilaterals mean nothing.

Not happy with post. The choice is clear.. next all format captain is ready and it's era defining all-rounder Rana Faheem Ashraf. He can take Pakistan to a new glorious era. Champion fighter Nd if you look at his press conferences a sensible man.

No.... I dont think so he is gonna be made captain even for 1 day ..lol...

Haris's only strong format is t20 and he should stick to it as a bowler... Captaincy???

Nay

lol he’s a bottler watch him in an ICC event he falls apart every time under presssure
Pressure is not an issue with him. Problem with Harris Rauf is that he cannot rely on his yorkers. He can't do that because of his short stepped tape ball style runup. A bowler without a reliable yorker will be taken apart in death overs and that is why he can't consistently perform at death overs like Bumrah, Umar Gul or Junaid used to do.

On topic, I don't think he is a captaincy candidate. Salman is a better option although captaincy hardly matters now considering Aqib is selecting playing XIs.

He hasn't made any impact at the international stage in a long time. They need to use him better and give him confidence by batting him higher.

Haris is a proven match winner.

Captain needs to be someone who has leadership qualities and calmness influence what I seen of haris he has none of these in him he is hot headed bit like shaeen afridi.

Means you are happy with the results? And also want Aqib to continue as the coach?
When did i say i m happy with results?

you fill team with kachra, PCB head is kachra, naturally the results will be kachra

We need a new PCB head and we need a free from bias selection process not just for the national team but also at domestic & junior levels. This will naturally result in better players being selected and the results will be better.

The last thing you want to do now is change captain or coach.

PCB head can't be changed unless there's the government wants it.

So we can discuss only on the team. What criteria do you want the selectors to follow for the selection? And which players fit in the criteria?

The head of PCB has appointed a captain whom 68.5% fans on Pakpassion wanted.
Not just this, Gazza was insisting that Rizwan should be made captain and that he was being treated as an Israeli because the PCB were reluctant to do this at first.

You can understand now why the PCB were not sure about this, but they still gave in to the 68.5% clowns here.

Never.
He is a good T20 bowler and Pak should get as much value out of him in this format while he remains fit.

Haris career of 200+ intl wickets is a truly commendable achievement for someone who was never in any formal cricket setup. This should be respected but he is in no way fit for any kind of captaincy or leadership role

Rauf is a tape ball bowler who has zero brains. Shaheen has more talent in his pinky than this guy does. Rauf would struggle to make even Bangladesh team. He should be dropped and kept far away from the side.
Rauf won you a series in Australia. Show him some respect.

He looks like a very angry man, i accept before the melbourne game he looked great but afterwards things didn't work for him, he leaks lots of runs his place in the pakistan lineup is a question mark now a days than how can he be appointed the captain?, you need someone calm as a captain.
