Should Mohammed Amir be persuaded to return back for overseas Test matches?

I think people got too excited with introduction of Naseem, Musa, Shaheen and Hasnain who are still young and need time to find their feet in Test Matches, especially overseas.

It seems Pakistan still needs the services of an experienced Amir to put up a strong resistance in fast bowling department. PCB should request Amir to return exclusively for overseas Tests and promise to manage his workload by not forcing him to play Tests in Pakistan/UAE.

With the next overseas Tours of England and NZ, Amir will be much needed addition to the depleting fast bowling resources.

You can’t force players to play. Amir was a mediocre Test bowler and he is not interested in improving himself.

No.

And he's a finished bowler. He would've been thrashed on this AUS tour as well.

Decent for stopping runs in the T20s still, yes. There's not much left - no pace, hardly swings.

If you get those green mamba pitches like in the UK in 2010, why not?

His peak average of '30' in tests was fantastic.

Why? He’s turned his back on the national Test side.

He averaged 28 in his last 15 Tests, which was the best in his entire career.

Pakistan needs Amir outside Asia much more than Amir needs Pakistan.

No. The results & phainta woul be the same. Amir is not some sort of miracle maker.

What do you suggest? As other than giving Amir a special contract with a special pay package (To which other players might have objections to) i dont think his mind can be changed.

Mickey Arthur recognised that nobody benefited by Amir bowling in Asia, so he had an agreement that he would only play Tests outside Asia.

That’s fine by me: offer him a reduced contract for Outside Asia Tests only.

He's not even that good since he came back from exile. If he doesn't want to make himself available then let him go and find somewhere else to play. Not like his contribution is going to make a difference, does anyone really think him being in the side would make a difference?

Personally quite happy to continue getting thumped with the players we have got.

I am a big fan of Amir, but no - he is not that good to justify your last line. And, he has declined considerably in last 1 year - I read somewhere that he was like 23 in that 2010 tour, when he was listed as 18 - now, I actually not sure .... could be born as 5 years old.

Using manipulative stats isn’t a good idea - his stats are good (in last 15 Tests) for Tests against Ireland & West Indies, if I take average of 29 is great .... you need to check what Indian pacers have done to same WIN or the minnow spinners of minnow Bangladesh. He bowled well in SAF - I also thought so, until Lanka pacers proved what rubbish PAK bowlers did with new ball against same line up.... Amir was just better among them.

Amir has no future for PAK - this is from someone advocating many times for him to be appointed as captain. Guy has lost his heart along with soul and living a borrowed life as pro fast bowler; he even smokes and doesn’t looked to be bothered much - should be dropped from central contract.

I have no issues if he agrees to it but I am not sure if he will. Also will depend how the management negotiates i.e if they do have any such thing in mind.

He’s not coming back. Which is good as don’t need mercenaries like him.

3 of those 15 tests were in Australia where he took 5 wickets at an average of 65+ runs per wicket. So yes, he will make a hell of a difference on an Australian tour.

And that he doesn't need Pakistan is something he realised and strongly believed even 10 years back in England, so yea you are rite again.

NO!
amir should be history.

HARIS RAUF! This guy is a raw young version of waqar younis.
Naseem shah
Shaheen shah afridi
This trio is the future of pak fast bowling!

He shouldn't even playin ODI and his T20 performance has to be monitored as well. he is finished and nothing to offer plus greed has taken over him. I was his big fan but we have to accept the truth.
